Texas Natural Resources Information System

The document describes a 3D GIS prototype project for the Austin-Bergstrom International Airport (ABIA) created by a team from Austin Community College and the City of Austin, in collaboration with Zebra Imaging. The prototype integrated LiDAR data, building models, and base layers into a 3D GIS of the airport to enable applications like 3D visualization, airspace compliance, and historical air traffic analysis. It also describes capturing content from the 3D GIS to create a hologram print for visualization and integration into products. Students are invited to explore 3D GIS further in an upcoming ACC course.

The Chicago Region Environmental and Transportation Efficiency (CREATE) Program is a landmark public/private partnership among the City of Chicago, the State of Illinois, six of the nation’s freight railroads and Chicago’s commuter railroad. In order to provide digital mapping and base engineering data to CREATE's many stakeholders, HNTB Corporation was tasked with the development and implementation of the CREATE GIS/Mapping Program and implementation of the CREATE Spatial Portal. This session explores how FME has played a key role in the success in these complex geospatial initiatives. We'll highlight how FME helped HNTB implement an overall solution which includes the provision of secure and centralized existing conditions data (LiDAR, CADD and GIS data) for more than 120 linear miles of rail/transportation corridors in the greater Chicago metropolitan area.

In context of Asset Management, much of digital engineering / building information management emphasis has been on definition, use and handover of asset and project centric information including models, spatial and non-spatial data / information generated through planning, design and construction phases for use and maintain during life cycle of asset. For existing Local Government Infrastructure assets, there is limited established context and case studies for asset management activities around data, systems, technology, processes of Digital Engineering (DE). As our long life infrastructure ‘as intended and built for’ goes through number of renewal and maintenance cycles, LG asset managers will have to equip with elements of Digital Engineering across whole of life cycle across existing asset portfolio. The paper covers lessons learned from case studies and pilot of DE tools explored for existing roads and stormwater projects at Logan City Council.
