4. Who made it?
The engineer behind the Wankel
engine is Felix Wankel, a German
engineer born on the 13th of August
1902 in Lahr, Grand Duchy of Baden,
German Empire. Who was a part of
many radical antisemitic
organizations in the early 1920
5. When and where was it made?
•By 1951, He began
development of the engine at
NSU Motorenwerke AG, On 19
January 1960, the rotary
engine was presented for the
first time to the press at the
Deutsches Museum in Munich.
6. Why was it made?
• One of his friends, made the official garage for
DKW and Cleveland motor bikes in 1927, where
Wankel worked from time to time until his arrest
in 1933.
• At age 17 he told friends that he had dreamt of
constructing a car with "a new type of engine, half
turbine, half reciprocating. It is my
invention!". True to this prediction, he conceived
the Wankel
8. Human
Benefit
Advantages
Increased power outputs as the engine can
handle larger amounts of fuel
A motor design which utilises fewer moving
parts which is mechanically better in an
engine
A smoother ride compared to a piston engine
is why people still enjoy driving the Mazda
series
9. Human Benefit
DISADVANTAGES FUEL EFFICIENCY GETTING 12.2-
12.6L/100KM COMPARED TO A MID-SIZED
SUV 6-7L/100KM
RELIABILITY WHICH THE APEX SEALS TEND
TO WEAR OUT, THE ENGINE NEEDS TO BE
REBUILT EVERY 130,000-160,000KM
