This presentation gives a brief introduction about Global software development. Global software development describe pros and cons of the software industry. It also opens new dimensions to capable resource person who can not join big cities due to some personal or other issue.
3. Introduction
Global Software Development is increasingly becoming the normal practice in the software industry.
India is one of the favorite nation for software offshore but since many years India is not alone in market China,
Malaysia, Vietnam, Brazil, Eastern Europe, Russia and many other countries shown sharp competence. To be in the
competition, India companies have to more cost effective,
Client countries like US, Australia, UK and Japan favorite destination is Bangluru while Pune, Delhi, Kolkata,
Mumbai, Hyderabad are also available as options.
Small city companies has not shown that much caliber that can attract GSD client India, such a diverse
country, there may various reasons to grow up the GSD business not only offshore but onshore and near shore
also. This research will focus on systematic approach to identify challenges for Indian organization and solution.
4. Abstract
In recent years, geographic distribution of software development has become a prevalent trend. This
globalization of software development is in the form of offshore outsourcing, and offshore insourcing. The situation
in which the teams are distributed across national boundaries is called Global software development (GSD).
The software companies are shifting their development work towards GSD to yield strategic and economic
advantages . The prospective strategic and economic benefits of GSD include decreased development cost, reduced
cycle time, access to a large pool of competent developers, closer proximity to local market, modularization of
code, and improved record of communication [5].
5. Reasons for Selected Topic
Previous research concentrate on GSD as whole. They have taken case studies of Indian site. They have focused
Global view for GSD growth.

Project Status : Ongoing
Area : Decision Sciences and Information Systems
Abstract : This project aims at providing knowledge and tools for organizations to excel in
software development on a global scale. The two core contributions of this project are (i) to
view cultural diversity as an opportunity for increased innovation, and (ii) to build technologies
that help practitioners to move from an outsourcing model to a collaborative model of global
software development (GSD). The project consists of a strong interdisciplinary and international
consortium of industrial and academic partners with substantial GSD experience - both from an
industrial and a scientific point of view.
