Ruby Bridges Paragraph
I am going to prove that Ruby Bridges stood up for what she believed in 1960. Ruby Bridges stood up for what she believed in. Paragraph 2 will be
about how Ruby Bridges stood up for what she believed in 1960. Next, My 3 paragraph will be about how Ruby Bridge's family is poor, so she did not
have the money to go to a private school, this means Ruby Bridges did not have the best education. To continue, My 4 paragraph will be about how
Ruby Bridges was a brave 6 year old and no one today would ever be that brave. Lastly, My 5th paragraph will be about how Ruby Bridges matters
because if it weren't for her we wouldn't be able to have white and black children in the same school. Do you want to know more, keep reading for
more facts.
Did you know that Ruby Bridges was only six and Ruby Bridges stood up for what she believed in? Ruby Bridges stood up for what she believed in
1960. According to social studies for kids, "6–year–old Ruby Bridges began attending William Frantz Elementary School." Back then whites and
blacks were not allowed in the same school. Second of all, Ruby Bridges had permission to go to a white school. Finally, No one liked that Ruby
Bridges was in there school, so everyone left but, one teacher volunteered to teach Ruby Bridges they were the only people in the class/school. Lastly,
Most people would have left and went back home, but not Ruby Bridges she still had confidence in her beliefs.

Narrative Essay About Luna
Once upon a time, there was a girl named Luna. Luna was raised by her evil step–family, her father had died a few years ago and she never knew what
happened to her mother. Luna wasn't normal, and she knew it, She had incredibly pale skin, red eyes, and two of her teeth were pointed and sharp.
She wasn't allowed to leave her room until night, so her step–family wouldn't have to look at her. Her step–sister was the worst part of her family. She
only made Luna food with garlic in it, which she was allergic too, and gave her a special type of water, which she could not drink. Her step–mother
would then hit her when she "wasted food." Luna's only company was a black cat, which found its way into her room through a hole in the floor. So
every night she would leave and play with the little kitten. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Her step–sister, Amelia, was overjoyed by the news, and ran to her mother for permission to go. Amelia was given permission, but Luna was not.
"Why on earth should I let you go embarrass our family?" Her step–mother exclaimed. Luna begged and begged but she was not going to that dance.
She ran back to her room, already in trouble for leaving it in the day, and started crying. Then the little black kitten came. "I really want to go to that
dance!" she cried to the kitten, the kitten gave a sympathetic "meow" in return. The little kitten went around town gathering things for Luna, and
returned with a dark purple dress, black shoes, black gloves, make–up, a brown wig, and a ruby crescent moon necklace. Her step–sister and
step–mother left for the dance, as they were leaving Luna pulled the stuff out from under the bed. Using contacts to make her eyes sky blue, the wig to
make her long black hair short and brown, the make–up making her skin appear darker, and putting on all the beautiful clothes. She headed out to the
ball, but when she reached her door, a voice in her head said, be back by

The Assassination Of John F. Kennedy Essay
The book I chose to read is The Assassination of John F. Kennedy by Lauren Spencer. It was published in 2002 by The Rosen Publishing Group, Inc. It
contains 64 pages. This book not only provides information on the killing of President Kennedy, but also information on his life, the arrested murderer
's life, and more interesting background information and details.
This books main objective is to go deeper into the case of John F. Kennedy 's assassination, to discuss personal information about suspects and
background information that play as factors to one of the most looked at events. It begins with describing the basics: John F. Kennedy went to visit
with the people of Texas. When he arrived, he was escorted down the streets in a convertible automobile with no top. This led to the devastating
shooting of Kennedy. From here, details were more specific. The story went on to tell about Kennedy 's surgery. The UPI News was the first to
announce of his death. Television and radio broadcasts were filled with nothing other than Kennedy 's assassination whereabouts. Once Kennedy died,
Vice President Johnson moved up in his place. The book went on to the real question: Who is responsible? Marrion Baker reported that he heard
gunfire from the depository, where police immediately began to search. Police spotted Lee Oswald, continued to search until finding bullets and a gun,
and then could not find Oswald anymore. People left statements of seeing a guy hurry along in a taxi that

Ada's Metamorphosis to Independent Woman in Cold Mountain
As Ada arrives at Black Cove, she and her father are completely unprepared for a life of independence. The ride there becomes the first of their
problems. A new horse and cabriolet were purchased for the trip, but that was their first mistake. "The rain fell aslant, coming at their faces so that
the top of the carriage did little good in sheltering them from it" (55). Monroe, Ada's father, had no idea on how to get to Cold Mountain, and "At
each fork, Monroe simply guessed at the route they ought to take" (55). Ada's life in Charleston was one of aristocracy. She enjoyed balls, parties, and
suitors, none of which helped her in any way at Black Cove. Ruby comments that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
"Ada told Ruby that she envied her knowledge of how the world runs" (137). Ruby also teaches Ada about home remedies and new ways of doing
things around the house.
Ada learns from Ruby about the nature of the world. "You commence by trying to see what likes what, Ruby said. Which Ada interpreted to mean,
Observe and understand the workings of affinity in nature" (138). Slowly Ada learns how to run the farm and live off its offerings. She begins to see
things that she might not have noticed before. As a heron flies over her head she wonders if the sighting is "A blessing? A warning beacon? Picket of the
spirit world?" (193). She jots down the incident in her journal, drawing pictures of the bird and maybe other associated objects. She even says to
herself "I am living a life now where I keep account of the doings of particular birds" (239). She is observing, and learning from, nature in its purest
forms.
It is easily seen that Ada acquires something of an understanding of nature in its purest forms. She is no longer afraid to do things that might seem
'unladylike'. Ruby dangled her feet over the edge of the hayloft. Ada had never known a grown woman to do that, but "Ruby looked at her with
some amusement, as if to say, I can do this because I have never been proper, and you can do it because you have recently quit being so" (288). The

A Hero As A Hero
Heroes come in several shapes and sizes, a tall man in a top hat, a little girl ostracized because of the color of her skin, and a man working to
remove the burden of slavery from his people. Heroes are everywhere. A hero is a person who is willing to stand up and fight for what they believe is
right, no matter what others think and no matter the consequences. Heroes are brave, determined, and intelligent. Whether it's big names or small
people, everyone can be a hero. Determination, bravery, and intelligence are key parts of heroism, and Frederick Douglass, Abraham Lincoln, and Ruby
Bridges displayed these traits as well as others.
To begin, Frederick Douglass displayed determination, bravery, and intelligence throughout his life, those traits and his actions combined are what
makes him a hero. "It was life or death with me. But I remained firm, and, according to my resolution." (Douglass). Douglass was determined to get
away from slavery and knew he would die if he was caught. He is saying that even though he knew he could die he would stay on his path no matter
what. "I felt assured that if I failed in this attempt, my case would be a hopeless one – it would seal my fate as a slave forever." (Douglass). He knew
that his plan could only go one of two ways; he could become a free man, or he could be captured and die a slave. Frederick Douglass was brave
because he could be apprehended and taken back to what he was trying to escape. "I was afraid to speak to anyone for fear

We Can Then Continue For Graphing
We can then continue to graphing: Even though we can see that the damage multiplier goes down as you acquire more Armor or MR. From the
Effective Health formula we can see that EH increases linearly with Resistances, because even though there is a fraction, it still fits with the y = mx +
b format, where in the example, the y–intercept is 500 and the slope is 5, if we expand the equation. Additionally, the domain is x > 0 because it is
impossible to have less than 0 Resistances in the game and the range is y > 500, because that is what I set the base to be. We can see that there is a 1%
increase in EH per point of Resistance, a linear increase in EH. In the instance of the example graph, I used 500 Health and 0 Resistances as a base. At...

We can convert those values into terms of Gold per stat point to get: 1 Gold per 0.05 Armor 1 Gold per 0.056 Magic Resist 1 Gold per 0.375
Health Using that we can then generate an equation to find the values of when the cost of a Resistance is equal to the cost of Health. Therefore
telling us when to buy more Health versus when to buy more Resistances, depending on the value of the other. Since 1 Gold of HP grants a person
EH equal to 0.375 + (0.375 Resistances100), and 1 Gold of Armor grants EH equivalent to 0.05100Health Points, equating these two will allow us
to find out when they are of equal value, like so: 0.375 + (0.375 Resistances100) = 0.05100Health Points We can then rearrange this equation in
terms of HP to become: Health Points = 750 + (7.5Resistances) Then create a table of values: Resistances Health 0 750 100 1500 200 2250 300
3000 400 3750 And graph to become: The line produced by the linear graph represents when the cost of HP and Resistances are equal, telling us
that when one's HP is above the line, buying HP grants less EH for the same cost, compared to buying a Resistance, and when a player's HP is below
the line, buying HP would be grant more EH per Gold than buying Resistances. With all characters in the game having a starting maximum HP of
between 478 and 626, and starting Resistance values between 16 and 31, it is clear that because all characters have statistics that can be plotted under
the line, at

Personal Narrative Reflection
My third visit to Mrs. Casanova's class has thus far been my most productive, in terms of applying something I have learned both from this class and
UCF in general. With the end of the middle of the second nine weeks rapidly approaching so too are classroom summative assignments. During my
visit on the twentieth I was able to both see the test creation process in a PLC and participate in the creation of some questions. Two of the three
teacher I have been able to spend time with in the classroom, the first being in internship and the second, Mrs. Casanova with service learning. Both
teachers employ direct instruction as their primary means of conveying information, with Mrs. Casanova using it more than the honors and AP
teachers. However, within the PLC the test questions were being created for all classes, rather than having separate questions for AP, honors, and
regular classes, with the only difference being the written response questions being more challenging in upper classes. Due to this, content evidence
was very important, especially for the upper classes, as they technically would be getting the same test as a regular. Beyond this however, the instruction
leading up to the test also had to be evaluated as the questions were made with AP in mind. According to the book, content evidence connects to state
standards and what the students need to know based off this, which should be reflected within the instruction (pg. 396).

Ruby And Sapphire Character Analysis
Indeed, it can be argued that, since Ruby and Sapphire are in a romantic relationship, there is no need to include other and different types of LGBT
couples. Pearl is in love with Rose but is ultimately rejected as her romantic interest is assimilated into the heteronormative, leaving her bitter and
resentful. Therefore, if, on one hand, the otherness of Rose as an alien is assimilated and normalized as she enters the heteronormative by beginning
a relationship with the human male character Greg, Pearl's deviousness as not only alien but also homosexual character condemns her to remain
unhappy and alone. Still bound to her idealized vision of Rose and unable to overcome her issues, Pearl develops a crush for a human that looks just
like her lost lover: the mysterious girl of Last One out of Beach City. Their story, however, has not been resolved yet: the mysterious girl's presence

The Story of the Winchesters
When Sam Winchester was just merely a few months old, and his brother Dean Winchester was only four years old, their mother, Mary Winchester,
was killed. Her husband, John, saw blood dripping onto Sam's cradle, looked up, and found his wife pinned to the ceiling, her stomach sliced open.
She burst into flames, John told Dean to take baby Sam outside and tried to make a desperate and futile attempt to save his wife while the house was
consumed by flames.
After a psychic told John that something of the un–natural was responsible for his wife's death, he became obsessed with finding and destroying the
thing that killed his wife and in the process trained his sons to recognize, defend others and themselves against supernatural entities. At a young age,
both Sam and Dean became resourceful "hunters" and experienced fighters assisting their father in his quest for revenge, to destroy dangerous
creatures and find the Demon that was responsible for killing their mother. However, Sam rebelled against the lifestyle his father chose for him,
eventually having a big fight with his father and leaving to live a semi–normal life. He attended Stanford University on a full scholarship and lived
with his girlfriend, Jessica Moore, in an apartment near campus. But when Dean, after two years of not talking, appears one night at Sam's apartment

people in strange ways. It's probably also my fault when that happens because I would miss the clues. "Well a man was found with his heart
missing. Sound like a werewolf to you?" "Yup." I say while packing my clothes into a small duffelbag. You see, the hunting life has its limits. We

like he 's always scanning his surroundings for something awry. "Alright, let 's go." He says while walking out towards the car. We stroll to the
car, bags over our shoulders, and Chad fumbles with the keys. I laugh and shake my head. I open the door and lean my seat back so I can sleep. I

Jfk Assassination Book Report
Critical Book Report When I first heard about the assignment I thought to myself, I need to get something to read that I know a little about so I
could have a sense of what was going to happen. As soon as I saw JFK my brain just went, ding, winner winner. I had always been fascinated in
how it happened. I thought to how Lee killed Kennedy and people thought more people were involved but they were just conspiracies. It in was
Dallas, the shot was from behind, and he had a communist background. Yet, even though I thought I knew a lot about the assassination I was still
interested in learning more facts on what led up to Oswald pulling the trigger. The assassination was never really resolved to me just at the fact that
Oswald had a semi communist past, this didn't seem to be a big enough reason to kill The President of the United States of America. In the back of
my mind I had wondered before what all of the conspiracies were and why so many people had believed them. To resolve all of my questions I picked
this book to hopefully have them answered. In Case Closed: Lee Harvey Oswald and the Assassination of JFK Posner goes into depth about Oswald's ...

Projects Before Php Fog Essay
Projects Before PHP Fog
When I started PHP Fog, I did none of the steps that I would recommend now. Most of the time, I didn't use a bank account or think about ideal
customers. I just had an idea that I thought was a good idea, and as a programmer, I started building the idea. I didn 't validate if it was a good idea. I
thought, "I want that, so it must be something people want," or "I think that 's clever, so I think I 'll build it, and other people will sign up for it." I
would spend weeks or months doing this on the side as my night project.
I would work on programming a project for a few weeks, and ninety percent of the time, I would get bored and give up on it. Ten percent of the time,
I would finish a project, launch it, and nobody would sign up. Then I would give up on it. I did that for many years.
Finding a problem
The first time I did anything different was with PHP Fog. There was a cool platform called Heroku, which was a service for developers to build apps
easier. I started moving my own applications to Heroku, which used applications programmed in Ruby on Rails. I had lots of Ruby applications, so I
said to myself, "I 'm moving all of my stuff to Heroku, this is great!" Unfortunately, I also had PHP applications. At the time, Heroku didn 't use
PHP applications, only Ruby. So then I said, "Here 's a problem: I want to move everything to Heroku, but I can 't because I have PHP applications." A
light bulb went off in my head. "Okay, PHP Fog," I said. I

Hsu, of course, was the young man who committed adultery and was an accessory to the murder of Bee Hsun, the husband of Mrs. Djou. Instead

whereas if it were a normal person the punishment would have been far more severe and painful. Respect for the actions of a person's elders is

Dee Versus Maggie: A Struggle For Self-Understanding Essay
The twenties, a time marred by prohibition and television's implantations, were widely known as a time of struggles such as the Great Depression
and the beginning of what later became known as women's rights. However, presumably the greatest struggle was that of В‘colored' people. Because
of limited resources, limited speech, and limited economic opportunities many В‘colored' people sought ways to escape В‘everyday' life and the
hardships they often faced. One of these ways came by beginning to express themselves more freely. In addition, as a result, the Harlem Renaissance
formed. In "Everyday Use", Alice Walker, one of the frontrunners of the Harlem Renaissance, tells the story of an oppressed and under

When Dee returns from school with her male companion, she has changed her name to Wangero. This is the first instance of cultural confusion that
is delivered to the reader. She claims it is done in an effort to reject the oppression of the taking on of American names by the struggling В‘colored'
people. She states "I couldn't bear it any longer being named after the people who oppresses me" (455). However, to Dee's mother, the name is
symbolic of family unity. Dee's mother traces the name back to Dee's aunt, Dicie. The name holds a symbolic value to Dee's mother because it
belongs to a love one. Walker uses this strategy to show that Dee has little or no understanding of her heritage, and if she took the time to accept her
people's way of life, she would have a better understanding. Dee changing her name shows how she tries to mask her true culture with bits and pieces
of her knowledge of her ancestors. However, this fails because Dee's heritage does, in fact, encompass the very struggles of her people that she chooses
to forget.
During the family dinner, Dee's confusion about the meaning of her heritage also emerges in her attitude toward other household valuables. Dee
praises the hand–carved benches that were made when the family could not afford to buy chairs. Though she rejects the family name given to her, she
readily values their goods. In Dee's perspective, the benches and the churn are souvenirs or aesthetic objects, and they have no

gypsy's illnesses, many people often helped the Blanchard's either financially or through organizations. Many would describe the pair as loving, kind,
and inseparable. People would never see one without the other and thought they were dependent on each other. Once the case opened, many people
were shocked to find that this family was not what they thought. The countless diseases that Gypsy was thought to have were fictional. Depending on
what type of doctor Gypsy would see, Dee Dee would lie about Gypsy's condition and family history. Dee Dee manipulated everyone, even doctors,
into believing that Gypsy was sick. This resulted in a multitude of redundant surgeries and medications that gypsy had to endure. And because of many
medications Gypsy had, many of the doctors thought that the symptoms they were seeing were what they were trying to treat. Though Dee Dee was a
good manipulator, Dr. Benardo Flasterstein and Dr. Marc Feldman had their doubts. Dr. Marc Feldman, a clinical psychologist, believed Gypsy was a
victim of Munchausen by proxy syndrome. Stating that most of the things that Dee Dee was saying wasn't matching with Gypsy. Dr. Benardo
Flasterstein, pediatric neurologist, put in one of

Ruby Mine Short Story
"Ruby Mines, please come to the office." A voice said over the intercom. Even though Ruby was my best friend, I wasn't worried. Calls down to the
office are just usually minor things. That's what I thought. But, as I was about to discover, they could also be major.
Ruby ran up to me after school that day with her face creased with worry. She explained that she was suspected of stealing the 7th grade student
files, a crime that was committed a day earlier. I knew she never did it. She said that Lexi Marker, a girl in our grade was the one that turned her in.
Lexi was a very popular girl, but loved attention (too much), and so probably just wanted to put the spotlight on her. I really didn't want to have to be

were the one that stole your phone." I retorted. "No..." she started, but stopped when Mr. Johnston glared at her. "Silence." he said. "Rose, thank
you. I'll talk to you later." The next half hour was Lizzi trying to get out of confessing. Eventually, he found out that she was behind it all just
because she wanted to get Ruby kicked off the basketball team. Lizzi was so annoying! She said she didn't like how good Ruby was because she
didn't want Ruby to take her spot on the A team. This was probably the only logical thing she ever did, although it was mean. I'm sure Ruby will be
a little scared when she hears that Lizzi thought she was good enough to kick her off the team! Lizzi was forced to hand everything over, including
her spot on the basketball team, but I couldn't sit and ponder that long. I was wondering was how long I would have to wait before telling Ruby
everything. Although, I really considered running to tell her right then, I discovered it wouldn't be worth the trouble. Right after Lizzi was sent home

Judge Dee : A Good Magistrate Using Confucian Values

How Judge Dee Was a Good Magistrate Using Confucian Values
The Celebrated Cases of Judge Dee takes place in Tang Dynasty China and it revolves around Judge Dee (Dee Goong An). Judge Dee was a
magistrate (or a judge), who solved different crimes around China. In this book, it includes three main crimes and Judge Dee examines them all. Judge
Dee included both Legalist and Confucian methods to help move along each case and eventually solve them. He used these different techniques to help
him solve each case, but three certain Confucian values helped him truly become a good magistrate. The three Confucian values were Ren, XiГ o, and
Li. Judge Dee used all of these values in order to become a good magistrate.
The first reason why Judge Dee was a good magistrate was because he used the value Ren, or humaneness. According to the Oxford English
Dictionary (OED), Humaneness is defined as "having or showing compassion or benevolence". A moment when Judge Dee used Ren is when Hoo
Dso–bin is kneeling before the judge and begging for his innocence against the murder of Mr. Hua's daughter. Hoo says that although he was not acting
well at the wedding and was saying rude comments, he did not murder Mr. Hua's daughter. From this, Judge Dee thinks to himself,
"Mrs. Lee and Mr. Hua, seeing their daughter lying there dead on the bridal couch, naturally were beside themselves with anger and grief, and
immediately pounced on the first likely suspect. But the young man Hoo had all the marks of an elegant literary student. His explanation sounded
plausible and entirely in character. He doubted that young Hoo had committed this crime" (147).
Since Judge Dee uses Ren, he saw the honest reactions of the parents of the bride and he realized that they were possibly affected because of anger,
meaning that there was a chance that their arguments were wrong or biased. Also, he saw that Hoo did not seem like the type of person to commit
this crime and his explanation of the story seemed truthful. Because of this use of Ren, or humaneness, Judge Dee thought that Hoo was a very
unlikely suspect and allowed himself to move the case along to check on other suspects. This use of Ren helped him deduct a suspect from his case.

Frank Zappa really called it. As I was listening to him speak, I found myself in agreement with everything he said in the clip shown in Blackboard;
much of what he, John Denver and Dee Snider said echoes my sentiments. I especially agree with his comments that the basis for the PMRC was a
distraction from other issues that the Senate was attempting to sneak by an unsuspecting American public; furthermore, I believe this served as a
means to further Al Gore's political agenda. Tipper Gore resigning from the PMRC in 1992 after Al became vice–president proves just that.
Additionally, I too believe that the Senate Committee hearings were an abuse of power, and also a major conflict of interest to head or preside as a

Does the 1st amendment protect their freedom of speech? Again, absolutely and resoundingly, yes. John Denver stated this eloquently, saying that
suppression should not be tolerated in society and censorship is the first step to suppression; he continues on likening it to Nazi Germany; which
banned and burned books.
Is their material "pornographic"? Explicit language, most definitely, pornographic, in my opinion, no. However, to others, maybe; since the word
graphic can be used to mean illustrative, pictorial, drawn, diagrammatic, visual, in this sense, not necessarily. Used in the context of the other meanings
of graphic; such as, explicit, lifelike, realistic, vivid, striking, detailed, full, clear, leaving nothing to the imagination, than I would say yes it could be
considered pornographic.
Is the 2LC album cover derogatory towards women? I do not believe it is, the cover depicts women in thong bikini swim suits; which you see women
wearing on beaches everywhere in the world.
Can you think of any example of men being placed in a sexist role similar to the depiction of women on the 2LC album cover? Yes, I can. On the

such as Playboy, founded in 1953; and Penthouse, founded in 1965; which we all know featured similar photos of women.

Maggie's Dynamic Character In Everyday Use By Alice Walker
"Everyday Use", by Alice Walker, is a story of Mrs. Johnson and her two daughters, Dee and Maggie, whose personalities are totally different. In this
story, Walker uses two hand–stitched quilts to symbolize the inheritance. Walker explain her characters as someone who accept African–American
heritage and appreciate its values. The mom is a dynamic character because of the change in her way of judging her two daughters and finally
acknowledging the beauty of Maggie. Maggie, too, is a dynamic character compared to Dee because Dee's character remains the same throughout the
story. Walker has written "Everyday Use" with a historical touch, especially when Mrs. Johnson speaks about Maggie receiving the quilts her ancestors
made. However, Dee, Maggie's... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The story takes place at Mrs. Johnson's house, where Mrs. Johnson and Maggie are waiting for Dee to come over for a visit. Mrs. Johnson raised two
daughters on her own. She does not see herself as a bright and beautiful woman but takes pride in being able to work like a man. She is proud of her
yard and the hard work she and Maggie have done to make it look when Dee comes to visit. Mama is portrayed as a "large, big–boned woman with
rough, man working hands" (Walker). She also makes reference in being able to "kill and clean a hog as mercilessly as a man" (Walker). These
assertions do not portray her as being the typical elegant and aesthetic mother but women who can do anything to make her daughters delighted and
joyous. She does, nevertheless, enjoy doing countless things. She also dreams of having a prosperous life. Mama and Maggie are both more
fascinated in the practicality of objects around them more than anything else. Alice Walker draws images through her words of three women in afamily.
Mrs. Johnson is affable and tough. Mrs. Johnson's inner monologue suggests us a glimpse of the limits of a mother's unconditional love and her
devotion towards her children. Mama is a practical character. When she says, "But of course all this does not show on television", it can inferred that
though she dreams of things she wanted to do, she is a person with her both feet on the ground. She knows that those things sound good only in
imagination but they are not conceivable. Critic David White advocates, "Mama takes pride in the practical aspects of her nature and that she has not
spent a great deal of time contemplating abstract concepts such as heritage... [but her lack of education] does not prevent her from having an inherent
understanding of heritage" (White). She is a spiritual woman. She characterizes one of her actions in

Maggie Dee Character Analysis
Question 5: Some characteristics of each character that review them in good and bad terms can be symbolically expressed in many ways. For
example, Mama is a hard working women that has seen a lot of hardship in her life that truly reflects on what she knows and how she uses that
knowledge to pass on to her children. This idea can be expressed from the book stating that Maggie knows how to quilt, which was taught to her by
Mama and her parents or Maggie's grandparents. Mama also shows how hardship can lead to good things because they are grateful for the nice things

In the story, Mama directly asks Dee what she wants the quilts for and Dee directly tells Mama that she wants to use them for decorative hangings I
her new life. Dee also tells Maggie and Mama that she isn't truly showing the heritage that needs to be shown from the quilts because she anticipates
that Maggie will surely use them for everyday use. The quilts are very important to Maggie as well because she is the second daughter in the family
who doesn't have the direct choice on what should happen to the quilts because she is younger and has a great respect for her sister Dee. The quilts
represent value to Maggie in terms of enjoyment because she can use these to know that she is still an important figure in the family even though Dee
almost gets everything she wants from Mama and others around her. Even if Maggie uses the quilts for everyday use, she can still have that feeling of
respect from her mother. In the book, this happiness can be proven from the time Maggie actually smiles after Mama sticks up for Maggie and tells
Dee that she can't have those two important quilts.
Question 7: Mama makes the choice to give the quilts to Maggie for two main reasons. The first reason is because Dee has already asked to take
some very important items from the house that Maggie couldn't express her feeling on and Mama thinks that Dee, a grown women, should be able to

was raised on two principles: hunting and taking care of Sam. He feels it is his job and duty to do everything in his power to protect Sam. Dean's
family is his world, and after his father dies, all he has left is Sam. In every situation where Sam is hurt or in danger, Dean loses any inhibition or
fear in order to save him. As Sam grew, Dean did his best to shield him from the world they knew so that he could be a normal happy kid.
Flashbacks throughout many episodes show viewers their lives as they grew up. What Dean wants most is to be able to work and survive without
Sam so that he can lead a normal, happy life. He knows it is too late for him. Later in the series, Dean gets involved with an old flame and her son.
He constantly struggles to maintain their relationship while at the same time protect them from the hazards of his lifestyle. He eventually gives them
up to keep them out of harm. The constant conflict he faces prevents him from becoming close with people. Therefore, occasionally he has to remind
Sam that they are all they have. Every episode tends to include and end with some emotional scene in which Dean is rarely open or agreeable to

Sherman produced her History Portraits during the late eighties and early nineties, nine of which are displayed at the museum. In her portraits she uses

Development Of Artificial Minerals And Its Effects
Development of Artificial Minerals
From the start of civilization, man has demonstrated intriguing interest in natural crystals including gems (Kesler & Simon, 2015). Later, man used
natural minerals such as mica, diamond, corundum, and quartz for different applications including cutting abrasion, and electrical appliances among
others (Kogel, 2006). During the Second World War, the demand for natural minerals in technical applications increased significantly and endangered
the supply. However, this situation alongside technological advancements had a positive impact because it led to the birth of synthetic crystals
(Goodman, 2013). In the synthetic crystal industry, the disciplines of geology, physics, chemistry, ceramics, and metallurgy merge to enable man create
a wide variety of synthetic minerals (Degryse & Elsen, 2003). Over the years, scientists have used different methods to develop synthetic minerals. The
development of artificial minerals has many benefits as discussed in this report.
Artificial minerals are minerals made in the laboratory (Jayaraman, 2000). Despite being artificial, these minerals have the same chemical, optical, and
physical features associated with natural minerals (Degryse & Elsen, 2003). Even though large scale manufacture of synthetic minerals started after the
Second World War, the practice traces its history to the late 1800s when syntheticruby was first produced (Weldon, 2016). Different man–made

One more essential feature is the database tables mapping to the objects of Ruby named as models. The running database along with the application
code, already it contain everything Ruby on Rails needs to know, that's why there is no need to deal with the inner deep details.
In Ruby on Rails, the striking feature is known as scaffolding. With the Ruby on Rails scaffolding, automatically, it create the operations of CRUD
complete set (i.e., Create, Retrieve, Update, as well as Delete), along with the database table views. Then, they can modify it according to your

Ophelia, daughter of Claude, was born to be leader of the...
Ophelia, daughter of Claude, was born to be leader of the Edean tribe–the descendents of dragons. The tribe had a sacred temple that could only be
opened with a special ruby crystal, which was made into a necklace that hung on the neck of Princess Ophelia.
As a child, Ophelia was full of curiosity. She gaped at the ancient statues of her ancestors and would spend hours reading the tales of the noble Edean
warriors. But out of all, she loved the legend of Arcadia–the Dragon Lord, who was once the notorious King of Edea. However it is no longer the
unified tribe it used to be, for all fell apart when Arcadia disappeared. Ophelia swore that one day, she would pick up the scattered pieces, unite the
tribe of Edea and reach greatness; ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Ophelia swore to make Edea rise again, and with that, she followed her childhood vision. Holding on to the ruby crystal that hung on her neck, she set
out to find the sacred temple. Ophelia spent days on foot, and found herself deep in uncharted territory. She had not eaten for days and she was
depleted to the point where she could not take one more step. "What should I do now?" she said to herself
Just when she thought all hope was lost, she came across a clearing. There she found a small pagoda. Ophelia burst through the clearing and
opened the door . There she found a plaque with the words "The Dragon Lords' Sword" engraved on it. Behind it stood an almost perfectly ornate
sword, but one thing was missing. She took off her ruby crystal and embedded it on. She then grasped the sword from its stand, and a great power
flowed from the legendary weapon into Ophelia, rejuvenating her and giving her great vitality. She closed the door of the temple, and kneeled in front
of it; thanking Arcadia for the ancient weapon. Gripping Arcadia's sword tightly in her hand, she returned to Edea to seek the revenge she so craved
for. When she returned to Edea, she saw the people in black cloaks searching through the wreckage of her home. When they spotted

Astrology : A Constant War Between Ancient And Modern...
There is a constant war between ancient and modern methodology. Some people see astrology as merely a superstition, while others have given
scientific reasons behind it. Astrology is spreading throughout the modern era and has a wider acceptance now more than ever. We see celebrities,
business tycoons, and many everyday citizens wearing stones to either enhance luck or fend off peril.
It is said in Hindu mythology that when the demon king Bali was killed, gems came out of his body as a symbol of victory of gods over demons.
Diamonds were found from his bones, pearls from his teeth, ruby from his blood drops, emerald from his gall bladder, blue sapphires from his eyes,
lapiz lazuli from the juice of his heart, cat 's eye from his nails, coral from his flesh, and yellow sapphire from his skin.
The story continues. From these gems, the sun took away the rubies, the moon picked up the pearls, Mars took away the coral, Mercury grabbed the
emeralds, Jupiter scooped up the yellow sapphire, Venus took the diamonds, Saturn collected the sapphires, Rahu took away zircon, and Ketu lifted up
the lapis lazuli. The energy from the stones is said to enhance the power of the planets.
Each month is associated with a gemstone. Here 's a month–to–month guide so that you can find the perfect stone to suit your soul.
ARIES (March 21–April 19):
Stone: Diamond

Steven Universe Research Paper
In Steven Universe, there are a variety of different gem types introduced throughout the series. So many, that it would be impossible to list them all
here. Therefore, I will be taking those that are the most archetypal or ones that are the most relatable and explaining their characteristics and
personalities. Note that not all the same types of gems act the exact same way–– I'm simply listing the stereotypical personalities we have seen from a
portion of the same–gem population: Amethysts– These Quartz soldiers are a riot. Abused by their superiors, their alliance will always be toward a
fellow Amethyst. They love to play pranks on others and hate being bossed around, even if they're forced to take it. Being a whole lot kinder than the
likes of their Agate bosses, Amethysts will not hesitate turn against Homeworld and fight for their freedom.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Only people with great accomplishment and status may own a pearl, and there is a hierarchy of them. Pearls have a multitude of personalities
depending on which diamond they serve. Pearls under Yellow Diamond's court tend to be cocky and devious. Meanwhile, Pearls in Blue Diamond's
court are usually quiet and proper. It is unknown, as of now, what a Pink or White Pearl would act like. Rubies– Rubies are the common Homeworld
foot–soldiers. The more rare a gem type is, the higher they are in society; Rubies are extremely common, making them one of the lowest forms of
gems. They are known to be fiery no matter what diamond they serve. They are an "eternal flame", which is an advantage in the heat of battle...
Literally. Not only can they actually produce heat, but their anger and ability to fuse (every Gem can fuse, but Homeworld only allows same–gem
fusions) makes them great assets for the colonization of pre–inhabited

Luna was raised by her evil step–family, her father had died a few years ago and she never knew what happened to her mother. Luna wasn't normal, and she knew it, She had incredibly pale skin, red eyes, and two of her teeth were pointed and sharp. She wasn't allowed to leave her room until night, so her step–family wouldn't have to look at her. Her step–sister was the worst part of her family. She only made Luna food with garlic in it, which she was allergic too, and gave her a special type of water, which she could not drink. Her step–mother would then hit her when she "wasted food." Luna's only company was a black cat, which found its way into her room through a hole in the floor. So every night she would leave and play with the little kitten. ... She ran back to her room, already in trouble for leaving it in the day, and started crying. Then the little black kitten came. "I really want to go to that dance!" she cried to the kitten, the kitten gave a sympathetic "meow" in return. The little kitten went around town gathering things for Luna, and returned with a dark purple dress, black shoes, black gloves, make–up, a brown wig, and a ruby crescent moon necklace. It contains 64 pages. This book not only provides information on the killing of President Kennedy, but also information on his life, the arrested murderer 's life, and more interesting background information and details. This books main objective is to go deeper into the case of John F. Kennedy 's assassination, to discuss personal information about suspects and background information that play as factors to one of the most looked at events. It begins with describing the basics: John F. Kennedy went to visit with the people of Texas. When he arrived, he was escorted down the streets in a convertible automobile with no top. This led to the devastating shooting of Kennedy. From here, details were more specific. The story went on to tell about Kennedy 's surgery. The UPI News was the first to announce of his death. Television and radio broadcasts were filled with nothing other than Kennedy 's assassination whereabouts. Once Kennedy died, Vice President Johnson moved up in his place. The book went on to the real question: Who is responsible? Marrion Baker reported that he heard gunfire from the depository, where police immediately began to search. Police spotted Lee Oswald, continued to search until finding bullets and a gun, and then could not find Oswald anymore. People left statements of seeing a guy hurry along in a taxi that ... Ada's Metamorphosis to Independent Woman in Cold Mountain As Ada arrives at Black Cove, she and her father are completely unprepared for a life of independence. The ride there becomes the first of their problems. A new horse and cabriolet were purchased for the trip, but that was their first mistake. "The rain fell aslant, coming at their faces so that the top of the carriage did little good in sheltering them from it" (55). Monroe, Ada's father, had no idea on how to get to Cold Mountain, and "At each fork, Monroe simply guessed at the route they ought to take" (55). Ada's life in Charleston was one of aristocracy. "Ada told Ruby that she envied her knowledge of how the world runs" (137). Ruby also teaches Ada about home remedies and new ways of doing things around the house. Ada learns from Ruby about the nature of the world. "You commence by trying to see what likes what, Ruby said. Which Ada interpreted to mean, Observe and understand the workings of affinity in nature" (138). Slowly Ada learns how to run the farm and live off its offerings. She begins to see things that she might not have noticed before. As a heron flies over her head she wonders if the sighting is "A blessing? A warning beacon? Picket of the spirit world?" (193). She jots down the incident in her journal, drawing pictures of the bird and maybe other associated objects. She even says to herself "I am living a life now where I keep account of the doings of particular birds" (239). She is observing, and learning from, nature in its purest forms. It is easily seen that Ada acquires something of an understanding of nature in its purest forms. She is no longer afraid to do things that might seem 'unladylike'. Ruby dangled her feet over the edge of the hayloft. Ada had never known a grown woman to do that, but "Ruby looked at her with some amusement, as if to say, I can do this because I have never been proper, and you can do it because you have recently quit being so" (288). A Hero As A Hero Heroes come in several shapes and sizes, a tall man in a top hat, a little girl ostracized because of the color of her skin, and a man working to remove the burden of slavery from his people. Heroes are everywhere. A hero is a person who is willing to stand up and fight for what they believe is right, no matter what others think and no matter the consequences. Heroes are brave, determined, and intelligent. Whether it's big names or small people, everyone can be a hero. Determination, bravery, and intelligence are key parts of heroism, and Frederick Douglass, Abraham Lincoln, and Ruby Bridges displayed these traits as well as others. To begin, Frederick Douglass displayed determination, bravery, and intelligence throughout his life, those traits and his actions combined are what makes him a hero. "It was life or death with me. But I remained firm, and, according to my resolution." (Douglass). Douglass was determined to get away from slavery and knew he would die if he was caught. He is saying that even though he knew he could die he would stay on his path no matter what. "I felt assured that if I failed in this attempt, my case would be a hopeless one – it would seal my fate as a slave forever." (Douglass). He knew that his plan could only go one of two ways; he could become a free man, or he could be captured and die a slave. Frederick Douglass was brave because he could be apprehended and taken back to what he was trying to escape. "I was afraid to speak to anyone for fear ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Additionally, the domain is x > 0 because it is impossible to have less than 0 Resistances in the game and the range is y > 500, because that is what I set the base to be. We can see that there is a 1% increase in EH per point of Resistance, a linear increase in EH. In the instance of the example graph, I used 500 Health and 0 Resistances as a base. At... We can convert those values into terms of Gold per stat point to get: 1 Gold per 0.05 Armor 1 Gold per 0.056 Magic Resist 1 Gold per 0.375 Health Using that we can then generate an equation to find the values of when the cost of a Resistance is equal to the cost of Health. Therefore telling us when to buy more Health versus when to buy more Resistances, depending on the value of the other. Since 1 Gold of HP grants a person EH equal to 0.375 + (0.375 Resistances100), and 1 Gold of Armor grants EH equivalent to 0.05100Health Points, equating these two will allow us to find out when they are of equal value, like so: 0.375 + (0.375 Resistances100) = 0.05100Health Points We can then rearrange this equation in terms of HP to become: Health Points = 750 + (7.5Resistances) Then create a table of values: Resistances Health 0 750 100 1500 200 2250 300 3000 400 3750 And graph to become: The line produced by the linear graph represents when the cost of HP and Resistances are equal, telling us that when one's HP is above the line, buying HP grants less EH for the same cost, compared to buying a Resistance, and when a player's HP is below the line, buying HP would be grant more EH per Gold than buying Resistances. With all characters in the game having a starting maximum HP of between 478 and 626, and starting Resistance values between 16 and 31, it is clear that because all characters have statistics that can be plotted under the line, at ... Personal Narrative Reflection My third visit to Mrs. Casanova's class has thus far been my most productive, in terms of applying something I have learned both from this class and UCF in general. With the end of the middle of the second nine weeks rapidly approaching so too are classroom summative assignments. During my visit on the twentieth I was able to both see the test creation process in a PLC and participate in the creation of some questions. Two of the three teacher I have been able to spend time with in the classroom, the first being in internship and the second, Mrs. Casanova with service learning. Both teachers employ direct instruction as their primary means of conveying information, with Mrs. Casanova using it more than the honors and AP teachers. However, within the PLC the test questions were being created for all classes, rather than having separate questions for AP, honors, and regular classes, with the only difference being the written response questions being more challenging in upper classes. Due to this, content evidence was very important, especially for the upper classes, as they technically would be getting the same test as a regular. Beyond this however, the instruction leading up to the test also had to be evaluated as the questions were made with AP in mind. According to the book, content evidence connects to state standards and what the students need to know based off this, which should be reflected within the instruction (pg. 396). Ruby And Sapphire Character Analysis Indeed, it can be argued that, since Ruby and Sapphire are in a romantic relationship, there is no need to include other and different types of LGBT couples. Pearl is in love with Rose but is ultimately rejected as her romantic interest is assimilated into the heteronormative, leaving her bitter and resentful. Therefore, if, on one hand, the otherness of Rose as an alien is assimilated and normalized as she enters the heteronormative by beginning a relationship with the human male character Greg, Pearl's deviousness as not only alien but also homosexual character condemns her to remain unhappy and alone. Still bound to her idealized vision of Rose and unable to overcome her issues, Pearl develops a crush for a human that looks just like her lost lover: the mysterious girl of Last One out of Beach City. She states "I couldn't bear it any longer being named after the people who oppresses me" (455). However, to Dee's mother, the name is symbolic of family unity. Dee's mother traces the name back to Dee's aunt, Dicie. The name holds a symbolic value to Dee's mother because it belongs to a love one. Walker uses this strategy to show that Dee has little or no understanding of her heritage, and if she took the time to accept her people's way of life, she would have a better understanding. Dee changing her name shows how she tries to mask her true culture with bits and pieces of her knowledge of her ancestors. However, this fails because Dee's heritage does, in fact, encompass the very struggles of her people that she chooses to forget. • 25. Judge Dee : A Good Magistrate Using Confucian Values Reef Evora 7:30 How Judge Dee Was a Good Magistrate Using Confucian Values The Celebrated Cases of Judge Dee takes place in Tang Dynasty China and it revolves around Judge Dee (Dee Goong An). Judge Dee was a magistrate (or a judge), who solved different crimes around China. In this book, it includes three main crimes and Judge Dee examines them all. Judge Dee included both Legalist and Confucian methods to help move along each case and eventually solve them. He used these different techniques to help him solve each case, but three certain Confucian values helped him truly become a good magistrate. The three Confucian values were Ren, XiГ o, and Li. Judge Dee used all of these values in order to become a good magistrate. The first reason why Judge Dee was a good magistrate was because he used the value Ren, or humaneness. According to the Oxford English Dictionary (OED), Humaneness is defined as "having or showing compassion or benevolence". A moment when Judge Dee used Ren is when Hoo Dso–bin is kneeling before the judge and begging for his innocence against the murder of Mr. Hua's daughter. Hoo says that although he was not acting well at the wedding and was saying rude comments, he did not murder Mr. Hua's daughter. From this, Judge Dee thinks to himself, "Mrs. Lee and Mr. Hua, seeing their daughter lying there dead on the bridal couch, naturally were beside themselves with anger and grief, and immediately pounced on the first likely suspect. But the young man Hoo had all the marks of an elegant literary student. His explanation sounded plausible and entirely in character. He doubted that young Hoo had committed this crime" (147). Since Judge Dee uses Ren, he saw the honest reactions of the parents of the bride and he realized that they were possibly affected because of anger, meaning that there was a chance that their arguments were wrong or biased. Also, he saw that Hoo did not seem like the type of person to commit this crime and his explanation of the story seemed truthful. Because of this use of Ren, or humaneness, Judge Dee thought that Hoo was a very unlikely suspect and allowed himself to move the case along to check on other suspects. This use of Ren helped him deduct a suspect from his case. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 28. Maggie's Dynamic Character In Everyday Use By Alice Walker "Everyday Use", by Alice Walker, is a story of Mrs. Johnson and her two daughters, Dee and Maggie, whose personalities are totally different. In this story, Walker uses two hand–stitched quilts to symbolize the inheritance. Walker explain her characters as someone who accept African–American heritage and appreciate its values. The mom is a dynamic character because of the change in her way of judging her two daughters and finally acknowledging the beauty of Maggie. Maggie, too, is a dynamic character compared to Dee because Dee's character remains the same throughout the story. Walker has written "Everyday Use" with a historical touch, especially when Mrs. Johnson speaks about Maggie receiving the quilts her ancestors made. However, Dee, Maggie's... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The story takes place at Mrs. Johnson's house, where Mrs. Johnson and Maggie are waiting for Dee to come over for a visit. Mrs. Johnson raised two daughters on her own. She does not see herself as a bright and beautiful woman but takes pride in being able to work like a man. She is proud of her yard and the hard work she and Maggie have done to make it look when Dee comes to visit. Mama is portrayed as a "large, big–boned woman with rough, man working hands" (Walker). She also makes reference in being able to "kill and clean a hog as mercilessly as a man" (Walker). These assertions do not portray her as being the typical elegant and aesthetic mother but women who can do anything to make her daughters delighted and joyous. She does, nevertheless, enjoy doing countless things. She also dreams of having a prosperous life. Mama and Maggie are both more fascinated in the practicality of objects around them more than anything else. Alice Walker draws images through her words of three women in afamily. Mrs. Johnson is affable and tough. Mrs. Johnson's inner monologue suggests us a glimpse of the limits of a mother's unconditional love and her devotion towards her children. Mama is a practical character. When she says, "But of course all this does not show on television", it can inferred that though she dreams of things she wanted to do, she is a person with her both feet on the ground. She knows that those things sound good only in imagination but they are not conceivable. Critic David White advocates, "Mama takes pride in the practical aspects of her nature and that she has not spent a great deal of time contemplating abstract concepts such as heritage... [but her lack of education] does not prevent her from having an inherent understanding of heritage" (White). She is a spiritual woman. She characterizes one of her actions in ... For example, Mama is a hard working women that has seen a lot of hardship in her life that truly reflects on what she knows and how she uses that knowledge to pass on to her children. This idea can be expressed from the book stating that Maggie knows how to quilt, which was taught to her by Mama and her parents or Maggie's grandparents. The quilts are very important to Maggie as well because she is the second daughter in the family who doesn't have the direct choice on what should happen to the quilts because she is younger and has a great respect for her sister Dee. The quilts represent value to Maggie in terms of enjoyment because she can use these to know that she is still an important figure in the family even though Dee almost gets everything she wants from Mama and others around her. Even if Maggie uses the quilts for everyday use, she can still have that feeling of respect from her mother. In the book, this happiness can be proven from the time Maggie actually smiles after Mama sticks up for Maggie and tells Dee that she can't have those two important quilts. Development Of Artificial Minerals And Its Effects Development of Artificial Minerals From the start of civilization, man has demonstrated intriguing interest in natural crystals including gems (Kesler & Simon, 2015). Later, man used natural minerals such as mica, diamond, corundum, and quartz for different applications including cutting abrasion, and electrical appliances among others (Kogel, 2006). During the Second World War, the demand for natural minerals in technical applications increased significantly and endangered the supply. However, this situation alongside technological advancements had a positive impact because it led to the birth of synthetic crystals (Goodman, 2013). In the synthetic crystal industry, the disciplines of geology, physics, chemistry, ceramics, and metallurgy merge to enable man create a wide variety of synthetic minerals (Degryse & Elsen, 2003). Over the years, scientists have used different methods to develop synthetic minerals. The development of artificial minerals has many benefits as discussed in this report.
