This document provides information about phenol and phenyl compounds. It discusses their chemical formulas and properties. Phenol contains a hydroxyl group, whereas phenyl does not. The document also describes how benzene can be converted into phenol through a two-step chlorination and hydrolysis process. Finally, it lists several applications of phenol, including as a precursor to plastics, explosives, and disinfectants.

3. Basics
Phenyl is a group of
atoms with the
formula C6H5. This
group derives from
benzene, therefore,
has similar properties
as benzene. However,
this differs from
benzene due to lack of
a hydrogen atom in
one carbon.
Phenol is an aromatic
hydrocarbon compound
having the chemical
formula C6H5OH. This
compound exists as a
white crystalline solid at
room temperature. And
also it is a volatile
hydrocarbon
The key difference between phenol and
phenyl is that phenol has a hydroxyl
group (-OH) whereas phenyl has no
hydroxyl group3
4. “▸ What is the appropriate method
to turn Benzene Phenol?
▸ Benzene can be converted into phenol in
two following steps:
Step 1: When benzene undergoes
chlorination in presence of sunlight,
ChloroBenzene is formed.
Step 2: When thus obtained
chlorobenzene is treated with aq. NaOH,
OH replaces the Chlorine in
the benzene ring and thus Phenol is
formed.

Phenol finds applications as an
industrial cleaner for machinery parts
and electronic devices; as a starting
material for plastics and explosives
such as picric acid; as a raw material in
the manufacturing of drugs and
antioxidants; as a basic material in wood
preservatives such as creosote; for
making intense colored dyes; and in
everyday products such as mouthwash,
liquid detergents, inks, floor cleaners
and disinfectants.
7. White
Phenyl
White phenyle is used as a
cleaning product to remove
odors and kill bacteria. It
can be made simply by
combining pine oil and an
emulsifier.7
White phenyle (sometimes written
as phenyl) is a disinfecting agent
made from pine oil. It is made by
using an emulsifier- a compound
that allows an oil to stably make a
solution with water.
Without the addition of
an emulsifier, the oil
and water would
continuously separate
if the solution sits for
too long.
8. Making Concentrated
White Phenyl
▸ Required: pine oil concentrate (between 22%-26%), an emulsifier
such as Emulsifier OP-95 or Pine Oil Emulsifier, a graduated cylinder or
measuring cup, and a bottle to contain the finished product.[2]And

▸ Combine the pine oil with the emulsifier and stir them together. In a bottle large
enough to hold both volumes, combine the measured volumes of pine oil and
emulsifier. Stir well until the solution clears.[3] The emulsifier will mix with the
pine oil and together they will create a clear solution that has a brownish-yellow
tint to it.

10. Black phenyl
(sometimes written as phenyl) is
a dark brown or black liquid that
is manufactured as a powerful
disinfectant.
Black phenyle is most often used in
hotels, hospitals, military facilities,
homes, and animal farms, among other
places. Black phenyle is very powerful
and can effectively disinfect even when it
is very dilute

11. Start with castor oil
Castor oil will be the base
solvent for your soap solution.
Roughly ninety percent of the
soap solution will be
comprised of castor oil. Pour
the oil into a container that is
safe to heat on the stove top
or over a bunsen burner.
How to Formulate Black
Phenyle Disinfectant
▸ Prepare and add rosin
▸ Add caustic soda
▸ Heat the mixture
▸ Adding Antimicrobials
▸ Remove the mixture from
heat.
▸ Add creosote oil
▸ Use chloroxylenol.
▸ Pour into water.

Phenyl Making Market Potential
Phenyl has already a large market. And the demand is
increasing too. Some of the major reasons are
increasing population and hygiene awareness.
Nowadays, almost every homeowner use phenyl for
regular floor cleaning purpose.
Government authority uses phenyl to clean public areas
like the bus stop, railway station, airport, hospitals etc.
Additionally, private medical organizations like
hospitals, clinics, nursing homes use phenyl on the
regular basis. So, entering the market for a new phenyl
brand is highly lucrative.
