Editor's Notes
Character Background Information: Ever since she was a child, Kirielle Laroque acquired the uncanny ability of communicating with the dead. Her Mother, Helene Laroque, believed they were just imaginary friends and thought nothing more of it until Kirielle passed the point of such company. Helene reprimanded her daughter harshly, disapproving such nonsense. The two hardly got along to begin with, Helene still bitter and lonely from her Husband’s desertion. Kirielle tried to cope with the unwanted guests, growing as an aloof, tomboyish teenager in the tree-lined, charming neighborhood of Oakenshawe in Baltimore, Maryland. The cries of the dead grew more urgent and fierce as Kirielle grew older and more resistant, the ghosts wanting their pain to be heard and felt. They retaliated to Kirielle’s negligence, to the point where it consumed both her and her Mother’s otherwise normal life. At the age of twenty-two and under her Mother’s wishes, she was admitted to the enigmatic St. Bermann Psychiatric Hospital in the quiet town of Bermann, diagnosed with Schizophrenia. Kirielle hauls from one prison and into another. During her stay, Kirielle gains a growing suspicion of the in-patients, the facility, and the Doctor. The ghosts are especially restless in the facility, and she wonders why.Archetypal Information: She gains the title of The Hero for more than just being the main protagonist of this story. Kirielle is ripped away from her (almost) comfort zone to a strange, bleak place that sends slimy shivers down her spine. Despite it, she makes the most of her new situation. She could succumb to the more accepting belief that she is schizophrenic, but she knows in her heart that she’s not, and confidence is an acquired strength. She isn’t gallant or noble in the traditional heroic sense. Kirielle is a knight that rattles in her dull armor, terrified, but takes the step forward in spite of her fears. She isn’t immune to the ghosts that haunted her life, but learns to cope with it for the most part, and even then she’ll have weak spells, which makes her even more human. The most important part is that she recovers. As the story progresses, she will learn to grow as a character, to abandon her aloofness and warm up to people. PMAI Information: The Destroyer is a predominant archetype in Kirielle’s life. She is accustomed to the various destructions impacting her, whether it was her Father deserting her and her Mother, to the inevitable broken relationship with her Mother, to the spiritual apparitions that disturb her daily life. She falters, but makes the most of each situation, choosing to survive rather than drown in her despair. Kirielle strives to be normal despite her paranormal circumstances. More often than not, she becomes defensive when her motives and ideas are questioned. Kirielle is the opposite of The Lover. Maybe it was the way she had been raised, without her Mother’s love or normal relationships besides wailing ghosts, but she doesn’t keep relationships well intact, nor pursues one. She is kind without a hidden agenda, only an act of common courtesy. The idea of love is strange to her, repulsed by its depiction in rosy novels and films, its promiscuous twin in magazines. She is simply disinterested, the act of a kiss just two lips bumping into each other, not one spark ignited.Image Source, link, or reference: http://images4.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb20120412195446/residentevil/images/c/c5/2a2jpe.jpg
Character Background Information: At the age of nineteen, Mimi becomes the victim of a horrendous car crash, resulting the death of her parents, her brother and a drunk driver. Surviving with a serious blow to her head, she wakes up in her neighborhood hospital with post-traumatic amnesia. “My brother and I survived.” She told the nurse, referring to him as Luka Fara. The hospital concluded that she acquired Dissociative Identity Disorder. Luka appears in Mimi’s most vulnerable moments, like when she is afraid or tired. With no other family nearby to claim her, Mimi was admitted into St. Bermann’s Psychiatric Hospital. The Doctor took an unusual liking to Luka, who appeared almost every evening. Mimi’s male persona acquired a sixth sense, as he commented hearing various wails and screams throughout the night. Throughout the day, the Doctor tells Mimi that Luka resides in Block C of the institution, as there could only be one patient per room, even if they are siblings. This gives her the excuse of not being able to see her brother until the evening. However, before Luka takes over her body, she remarks warmly, “My brother is so sweet. There’s not one day where he doesn’t wish me sweet dreams.”Archetypal Information: Mimi regards to Kirielle warmly, which Kirielle finds pretty contagious. The two befriend each other, although Kirielle becomes curious of this Luka. It wasn’t until the first night when she saw Luka, his coolness melting away Mimi’s gentle disposition like a warm knife through butter. He immediately distances himself from Kirielle, and soon Mimi becomes less chatty with our Hero, wanting to adhere to her brother’s wishes. However, Mimi adores Kirielle and reaches out to her despite Luka’s efforts. The Herald Archetype comes into play on one night. When Mimi falls asleep, Luka reveals himself to be a ghost to Kirielle, possessing Mimi in her frailest states, justifying it with a mere, “I just want to protect my sister.” He explains to Kirielle of the Doctor’s true intentions with the patients of the facility, and he wishes that she would escape with Mimi before it’s too late. This sets Kirielle to take a course of action. Because of Kirielle, soon, Luka will be able to finally move on, knowing his sister will be safe with Kirielle.PMAI Information: The Innocentarchetype suits her. Her optimism and amiability reaches to even the shadiest character, something she knows that will more than likely set her up for heartbreak, but old habits are harder to break, so to speak. She seeks the silver lining within the confinement of her physical and (heedless) mental prison. Unfortunately, this often puts her into a childlike mind frame, having a tunnel vision of greener pastures and rose tint life. The truth of the matter is unwanted, naturally rejected, and harder to grasp. Although she knows Luka isn’t the friendliest of the two, she still loves him wholeheartedly and speaks nothing but kind words about him. “You’ll love him once you get to know him. He’s the best big brother I could ever ask for.” She would say. You could say Luka is her opposing archetype, The Orphan. Luka acknowledges the reality of their situation, choosing to protect Mimi, choosing to alienate themselves from everyone else. He feels it is the both of them against the world and that is it. Luka possesses a cynical disposition and hardly gives his trust to anyone, comfortable in his isolating cocoon with Mimi.Image Source, link, or reference: http://24.media.tumblr.com/tumblr_l84p4lkeIU1qzok3qo1_500.jpg | http://cdn3.mixrmedia.com/wp-uploads/ningin/blog/2011/12/exo-kai-10.jpg
Character Background Information: Prior to St. Bermann Psychiatric Hospital, Hajime Yoh lived a relatively normal life with his parents in the quiet town of Bermann. He was the golden child, practicing his cello and absorbing himself in books, acing his exams and term papers. He gained a mysterious, reserved disposition because of his obsession with perfection, not having many relationships during his high school years. It was not until his late teens where he began to have frequent, very severe nightmares. The nightmares consisted of people he has never seen, experiencing their pain and death. Unbeknownst to him, Hajime became an unwanted channel for the dead. He was admitted to the Hospital, diagnosed with Dream Anxiety Disorder and scheduled to have sessions with a psychiatrist, Dr. Ophidian. The Doctor eventually realized the truth of these dreams and began to do further testing with Hajime, resulting in his untimely death. The false story described Hajime’s final days to be filled with agony, not being able to handle the stress from his nightmares any longer and committing suicide. Hajime wanders around the institution as a ghost, not being able to leave.Archetypal Information:Hajime acts as Kirielle’s guide. Having eleven years worth of knowledge of the institution and its residency, he is able to tell her all she needs to know. He communicates with Kirielle, keeping her alert while hinting to her ways of survival as she stays in St. Bermann’s. He is also quite protective of Kirielle, developing a disarray of warm feelings for her, which startles him. Could a spiritual apparition become affectionate? Even so, he becomes shielding to the point of holding back some secrets, if only to keep her company a little while longer. Ultimately, he does help Kirielle to escape the facility.PMAI Information: The Sage is a predominant archetype in Hajime. He immerses himself in a vast amount of knowledge and enjoys discovering how a clock ticks, so to speak. He is perceptive and slow to anger, analyzing before acting in each situation. He retains a robotic demeanor, his mannerism precise and civil. As opposed to The Sage, Hajime is not much of a Warrior. He lacks the initiative of stepping forward and taking action, choosing to hide himself within his comfort zone. He isn’t much of a confrontational person, and that is a weakness he is ashamed of. Change is unwanted, which leads to him making selfish actions in order to keep everything structured, mostly for his benefit.Image Source, link, or reference: http://24.media.tumblr.com/tumblr_m4rkgrGqUe1qiy6g0o6_r1_400.jpg

Character Background Information: Archetypal Information: Adonis is Kirielle’s primary love interest, the two eventually forming an alliance to escape the facility.PMAI Information: The archetype prevalent in Adonis is The Seeker. He views the therapeuticfacility as a prison, both mental from the prodding nurses to physical, detaining his freedom. He denies conforming albeit in a more silent manner, paying attention to the details that leads to any means of escaping. He often alienates himself from the other patients that find a sense of serenity in the facility, feeling, as it is himself against the world, which he could only succeed with his own hands. As an ally, he is trusting and hardly falters from any given task, resolute and goal-oriented. Innocence had been ripped away from him in his early stages of life. Although he seeks freedom and a sense of joy altogether, he knows it will not be handed to him on a silver platter. It must be fought for, and there are cruel people that make the fight difficult, the same people that threw him into this hospital.Image Source, link, or reference: http://ic.pics.livejournal.com/forgottenyears/1867577/74466/74466_original.jpg
Character Background Information: Cecilia Konno, preferring the endearment of Cecil, lived her teenaged life of petty crime and excitement, rebellious by nature. Unbeknownst to her, her Father, Matsuda Konno moonlighted as a drug lord. After another night of drinking and fooling around, Cecil stumbles upon the massacre of her home and family. One of Matsuda’s connections, Deimos Ophidian, contacts Cecil and offers his protection. Cecil resides in St. Bermann’s as a nurse, under the persona Lotte Luft, her late Mother’s stage name. “You’re going to die soon, old man.” Cecil remarks to Deimos one evening. She bears a type of sixth sense, Precognition, and is able to see when a person dies by their touch. The two of them protect one another, although Cecil knows the Doctor’s intention isn’t one of a simple act of kindness, nor a promise to her Father. Even so, she plays nice.Archetypal Information:Lotte Luft is the brief break from tension. She is comedic relief, one to submit to crude and cheeky humor. Her survival skills are often dependent on street smarts and deceit, a perfectionist when it comes to sweet talk and batting her eyelashes. In this facility, under the Doctor’s eye, she is nearly untouchable. Cecil regards Kirielle with a bat of her eyelashes and a relaxed smile. She surprises her in her laidback disposition in an otherwise strange, hostile environment, keeping Kirielle guessing whether she is a friend or a foe. “You won’t last long here,” Cecil tells her one night, touching her wrist. Her mouth forms a smirk. “It’s pretty obvious. But I like you, that’s why I’m telling you this. You’re welcome.”PMAI Information: The Jester resonates within Cecil. The daughter of a late drug lord lives in the moment, less concerned of what others may perceive her as. She couldn’t give a care in the world about what others think, to be honest. She uses her charm to her advantage, manipulating in such a way that you believe there isn’t any better alternative than hers. Cecil is laidback, smiling and enigmatic. She is a wild bird, untamable, refusing to live in a cage of the mundane and regulation. From what she experienced early in her life, she is far from Innocent. Throughout her teenaged years, she well acquainted herself with drugs, shoplifting, and fornication. She is hardly naïve of some of the cruel intentions of other human beings, so she is defensive and not so easily trusting. Not that Cecil is a portrait of goodness. To her, the world is hardly a safe place to blindly prance in, a theory proven to her on the night her family was brutally murdered. In spite of this, she does not mope or pity herself. Above all, life is meant to be enjoyed.Image Source, link, or reference: http://i178.photobucket.com/albums/w258/pradit25/MikaNakashima2.jpg
