1. ENGLISH I AND II EOC
GENERAL INFORMATION—
 There are 50 multiple choice questions (11 for revision, 11 for
editing, and 22 for reading).
 There is one composition.
 There are two short answers (one single selection response and one
paired response).
 Multiple choice questions count for 1 point each or 50 points total.
 Each short answer receives a 0-3, but the score you receive is
multiplied by 3, so each one counts for 9 points (the score X 3);
therefore, the two short answers count for a total of 18 points.
 The composition is scored on a scale of 1-4, but it is graded by 2
people. Then, those two scores are added together, and that score is
multiplied by 3 which makes the composition worth 24 points.
 This all means that there are 92 possible points:
o Multiple choice counts for 50 points
o The two short answers count for 18 points
o The composition counts for 24 points
 In order to pass, you need 48 points for English I and 49
points for English II.
 In order to get commended, you need 76 points for English I
and 77 points for English II.

o The questions are in the order of the passage. Answer the questions as
you read the passages.

2.  WRITTEN COMPOSITION—For English I, it is expository; for English II,
it is persuasive--
o Complete this in four stages.
o First stage—Prewrite. Use whatever prewrite you like. Focus on creating
a GOOD THESIS STATEMENT.
o Second stage—Write a rough draft. Get your ideas into paragraph form.
Make sure you have enough space to write a good conclusion.
o Third stage—Revise and edit your paper
o Fourth stage--Final draft—Write your paper on the answer document.
o TIME ALLOWED—30 MINUTES FOR PREWRITE; 20-25
MINUTES FOR ROUGH DRAFT; 20-25 MINUTES FOR
REVISE/EDIT; 20 MINUTES TO WRITE FINAL DRAFT.
