2. Biography
Rene Descartes was a French
Philosopher and Mathematician.
He was born in on March 31
1596 and died at the age of 53
on February 11 1650.
He spent most of his time in the
Netherlands.
He is dubbed as the father of
Modern Philosophy and the
inventor of the Cartesian
Coordinate System.
He founded the Geometry in
which we use in school today.
3. Interpreting and using graphs
Graphs are use to present complicated information and figure in an
accessible and easy to understand the format.
This graph shows that:
• the change in height of a candle as it
burns.
• the unlit candle was 15cm high
• it takes 21 minutes for the candle to
burn down a height of 10cm
• after 40 minutes, the candle is 5.5cm
high
• it takes 63 minutes for the candle to
burn out completely
