Uber is a modern day app which is changing the way we
commuted in our cities. Better known as a ride-share and a cab
service, Uber is headquartered in San Francisco and has
operations in over 400 cities across the globe.
And what thrives their business is their wonderful app that runs
on iOS, Android and Windows Phone, using the phone’s GPS
capabilities, to select a ride/location and its cashless payment
approach that saves one the hassle of cash transactions with
every ride.

3. HOW IT WORKS?
The game is simple. If you wish to take a ride, you have to tap
your app and select your pickup location. As soon as that is
done, you will be able to locate all Uber cars within your vicinity
and available for your service. Once you agree to the ride, a cab
automatically gets selected and is available to you within the
mentioned time frame. So what this app really does is that it
receives your ride requests, and further transmits these trip
requests to the drivers in your vicinity. Killer idea, isn’t it?
While Uber is a success story of our time, it has taken much
time and muscle from its tech team who have exhausted hours
and days in building this picture perfect app, which is getting
the company business, name and fame.

what USPs do make this app, so sort after. Take a note.
➤ GPS, map and routes drawing
No brownie points for guessing that this is the most important
aspect of this ride-share, cab service app. However what makes
this unique is its GPS and map functionality. Once you book
your ride, not only can you see where your driver is, while on his
way to pick you but also you can share your itinerary with a
friend, who can locate you in case you phone battery conks off.

Another feature that ensures you a safe ride is the registration
system. As soon as you request a ride, along with your
confirmation comes the driver details and to the driver
passenger details are also shared. This ensures that you know
the name, vehicle number and driver's’ contact details way
before you commence your journey, thereby ensuring you have a
secure ride.

➤ Notifications and communication
All taxi service apps give you notifications, however since Uber
is based on the GPS systems, it gives you the correct travel time
notifications. Uber also gets a pat on it back for maintaining
passenger confidentiality. Uber does not give the drivers the
passenger’s direct hand phone details and instead makes them
call passengers via a hotline number. This not only maintains
privacy for the passenger but also an assurance against misuse.

➤ Payment System
Dependent on the Credit Card system and largely on local
systems like payment wallets, Uber provides one a cashless
experience, which is a must have for our plastic money
generation. However, to build it market with the traditional cash
carrying gentry, Uber also accepts cash.

And while you as rider, get a chance to rate drivers, drivers too
rate you as passengers and in case you give low rating to a driver
thrice in row, the next time you make a booking Uber ensures,
you don’t select on the same driver. Now that’s what being spoilt
for choices mean.
