around 20,000-25,000 children begging in Kinshasa, its capital
most hospitals and health centres poorly equipped
only 1 doctor and 5 nurses/midwives for every 10,000 people in DR Congo

Why Poverty?
● microfinance in rural areas almost non-existent
● low agriculture productivity as a result of traditional cultivation methods
● insufficient use of inputs such as improved seeds, planting materials and
fertilizers
● vehicles, access roads, crossings and navigation channels are in very poor
condition which makes transport and other costs high
● difficulties in marketing because of weak collection and distribution
