2. 1 - Blind Mind Team Building
• What?
Imagine doing a task in a team without any verbal communication whatsoever and
being blindfolded at the same time! Blind Caterpillar is an activity where an entire
team needs to be on a the same page and decide on a strategy of non verbal
communication. Each team member is a leader at some point of the game.
• How?
Participants in a team line up one behind each other, thus forming a caterpillar type
formation while being blindfolded. The last participant guides this team formation
to move around and collect points that are placed in undefined the path below,
without any verbal communication

3. • Why?
Strategic Planning & Effective communication are the foundation blocks of this
activity. Each team member must understand the communication method that will
be used and trust each other to achieve a goal. For building trust, planning from
inception is a must.

5. 2. Balloon Tower
• Objective: Use a bag of balloons and roll of masking tape to build the tallest
freestanding tower possible in the time allotted.
• Time Needed: 20-30 minutes
• Group Size: Any, split into teams of 4-6 people
• Materials (per team):
• 1 bag of balloons
• 1 roll of masking tape

6. • Directions:
• Challenge the teams to make the tallest freestanding tower they can using
only the balloons and tape.
• Allow four minutes of brainstorming and planning. When you say “Go!” the
tower building can begin.
• Let the teams build for 10 minutes, giving time announcements at five
minutes, two minutes and one minute remaining. At the end, whichever team
has the tallest freestanding tower is the winner.

7. 3. EGG DROP
• Type of activity: Energiser
• Participants: 6-50
• Timing: 15-30 Minutes
• Key themes: Teamwork, Creativity, Time Management
• Overview : Teams of between 3 and 5 participants are asked to make a
structure from limited materials, which will prevent a raw egg from breaking
when it is dropped by the facilitator from a height of 10ft.

8. • Equipment and Layout:
• Boxes of plastic drinking straws to enable each team to be issued with approximately 50
straws
• One roll of gaffer/duck/cloth tape
• Raw eggs – allow 2 per team to accommodate breakages during construction
• Step ladders or safe point from which to drop the egg
• Sufficient clear floor/table space for teams to work on their device.
• Running the Activity
• Introduce this as a creative challenge with very few rules
• State that the objective is that each team must design and build a structure that
will prevent their egg from breaking when dropped from a height of 10 feet onto
a solid floor (do not give any guidance as to the style of design, if questioned
simply restate the objective)
• The teams have just fifteen minutes in which to build their structure
• Should more than one team succeed in protecting their egg, the winner will be
determined by the fewest straws used.
• Issue each team with approximately 50 drinking straws, one egg and a 1 meter
length of gaffer/duck tape
• Encourage the teams to work out of sight of one another

9. • During the exercise walk around the teams giving time checks and monitoring
progress
• After 15 minutes call the teams together around the drop area
• As the facilitator, you should drop the eggs but make sure you insist that the
teams are satisfied with how you aim and make the drop
