On November 10th, 1775, the Continental Congress passed a resolution that stated "two Battalions of Marines be raised", which established the
Continental Marines, and is now considered the birth date of the Marines. The newly formed Continental Marines served on both land and sea, and
took part in many major engagements, which helped establish them as an important branch of the Armed Forces. The first Commandant of the
Continental Marines was Captain Samuel Nicholas, who was born in Philadelphia in 1744. He was commissioned to be a "Captain of Marines" by the

Shortly after, Captain Samuel Nicholas is promoted to Major. In December 1776, the Marines joined Washington's army at Trenton to help slow
the progress of British Troops through New Jersey. Washington was unsure what to do with the Marines, so he added them to a brigade of
Philadelphia militia. Although the Marines were unable to arrive in time to greatly affect the Battle of Trenton, they played a part in the
American victories in both the Battles of Assunpink Creek and Princeton. At the end of the American Revolution in 1783, both the Continental
Marines and Continental Navy were disbanded. The Alliance was sold, and the last official act of the Continental Marines was to escort a stash of
French silver crowns on loan from Louis XVI from Boston to Philadelphia. Some individual Marines stayed on the few American naval vessels
left, but the last Continental Marine was discharged in April. In 1798, the Marines are reformed as the Unites States Marine Corps, with William
Ward Burrows as the Second Commandant. Under the "Act for establishing and organizing a Marine Corps", which was signed by President John
Adams on July 11th 1798, the new Marine Corps was to be made up of a battalion of 500 privates, who would be lead by a Major and a group of

Today's Navy, according to the Navy's official website, navy.mil, consist of over 300,000 active duty personnel, over 100,000 reserve personnel, 430
total ships and over 3700 aircrafts. According to the Navy's New Recruit Handbook, "The mission of the United States Navy is to protect and defend the

The Revolutionary soldier and the modern soldier battled for similar reasons but the resources available to them such as rations, uniforms and
weapons were very different indeed. As you can imagine, the resources in 1775 were much more limited than that of today 's interconnected
networks which provide fast and seemingly unlimited resources to the soldiers of the modern armed forces. During the revolutionary war, the
soldiers were not only battling the invading British forces, but a limited supply stream due the infancy of the nation they were fighting to protect.
The modern soldier fights wars all across the world and can receive supplies seemingly as easy as you or I could buy bread from the grocery store.

Introduction.
Rathlin Island located just off the North coast of Northern Ireland (NI) has been selected as a suitable location for the Government to place a new
windfarm. As the Government tries to move away from non–renewable energy sources this proposal for the windfarm will provide electricity to the
towns of County Antrim. The Northern Ireland Environment Agency (NIEA) are concerned that the marine cable route should have as little impact on
the natural and cultural environments, this is because the EU believes that the natural and cultural environments and the heritage they contain are an
important resource for economic growth and employment (European Commissions, 2016). As such have assigned the task of identifying a suitable low
impact route for the cable from Church Bay (Rathlin Island) to Ballycastle (Co. Antrim).
To produce a marine cable that has a minimum impact on the natural and cultural environment the NIEA has given several guidelines that need to be
followed.
The cable must:
1.Be trenched and re–filled at a depth of 2m, this means as much bedrock should be avoided as this will be a costly and timely process.
2.Avoid all shipwrecks
3.Avoid all slopes that exceed angles of 40В°
4.Avoid all mobile substrates exceeding mean spring flows of 50cm/s

plains and contain soil types of marine sediments. The ASS's tend to lay dormant under alluvial soils or dunes until they are disturbed either by

Hillbilly Elegy Summary
In the fifth reading assignment of Hillbilly Elegy, the chapters highlight J.D's time in high school, the Marines, and college.
The start of chapter seven dealt with the death of Papaw. I think this death took a toll on J.D largely because Papaw was the closest thing to a
stable father figure he had. I love the relationship that Papaw and J.D had, and I'm sure it was one that J.D cherishes to this day. Reading about
Papaw's funeral was especially tough for me because I have been exactly where J.D was in that moment. My grandfather passed away in the summer
of 2015, and I also spoke at his funeral. I was extremely close with my Grandpa, or Papa as I called him, and reading about J.D's experience brought up
some tough feelings for me. I noticed that J.D's mother took the loss of her father extremely had. She was thrown into a prescription drug induced
tailspin. This is yet another example of the loss of a loved one completely derailing the life of one of their loved ones. Her story reminded me of
Scott from Evicted. This also made me feel for J.D, he had just lost his beloved grandfather, and now he had to worry about his mother struggling with
her addiction.
Later in the chapter, I was happy to read that Lindsay had a great life going for her. She is one of my favorite characters in this book, and I was
joyed to read that she had found a great husband. I also thought it was completely selfish for J.D's mother to ask him to move to Dayton with her
newest boyfriend. I was also sickened to read that J.D's mother sent him to a therapist just so she could interrogate him about how he acted towards
his mother. I think if J.D saw an actual therapist, he could have really benefited from it. I also really respected that Lindsay dropped everything she
was doing to go pick up J.D from Dayton. I think this really speaks to their relationship, and how much she cares for her brother. I was also stunned to
read that J.D's mother agreed to marry a man she had only known for one week. I knew that she had relationship issues, but this still shocked me. I
think J.D eventually became numb to the amount of partners his mother brought home. The story of J.D's mother begging for his clean urine was
extremely sad to me. I think

1776, during the American Revolutionary War. This event is considered to be the first move in a sudden attack done against the German Hessian allied

What is an albatross? A albatross is a oceanic–bird that has long narrow wings some species have wingspan greater than 10 ft. They are mainly found
in the southern oceans, while in the North there is only 3 king of species. In the story "Rime of the Ancient Mariner" talks about an Albatross
flying over a sailor's boat, suppose the mariner of the ship believes is the bird brining the breeze and the mist and the ice trap,that has been created.

The mariner moved and he could not feels his limbs. For a second he thought he had died in his sleep and was eventually going to become a ghost. As
time continued the mariner could hear wind blow to his ear, but there wasn't no wind coming his way. Quietly the ship began to sail on,the dead

Samuel Taylor Coleridge's "The Rime of an Ancient Mariner" is a poem, in which a Mariner tells his story of a supernatural encounter with spirits and
a higher being identified as God to an unsuspecting wedding guest. The Mariner is able to tell his story through a pattern of God's aid, wrath and
forgiveness. Through the use of a higher beings aid, wrath and forgiveness the poem demonstrates a moral which can mostly be confirmed with
symbols throughout the poem. The poem demonstrates the aid of a higher being when the Albatross is introduced in lines 63–66 stating "At length did
cross an Albatross, Thorough the fog it came; As if it had been a Christian soul, We hailed it in God's name." These lines explain how the presence
of the Albatross was seen as a good omen and was praised as if it was sent from God. An alive Albatross could very well have been seen as a
heavenly figure because it has characteristics that embody holy symbols. A white albatross can be compared to peace, serenity, and safety; these
characteristics can be accurately confirmed because it brought good luck to the sailors. This is confirmed in lines 69–72 stating "The ice did split with a
thunder–fit; The helmsman steer'd us through! And a good south wind sprung up behind; The Albatross did follow,". The good fortune of the shipmates
and their journey are confirmed in lines 71–74 stating "And a good wind sprung up behind; The Albatross did follow, And every day, for food or play,
Came to the mariners' hollo!". This also shows that when the sailors decided to protect the Albatross all of them were protected as well. The
Albatross is not only a symbol of good fortune, but also God's aid because it was seen as a help to the sailors when they were in trouble.
The wrath of a higher being is demonstrated in the poem following the death of the Albatross. The Albatross is killed by the Mariner in lines 81–82,
which say "With my cross–bow I shot the Albatross". The Mariner shooting the Albatross with his crossbow on impulse is not only a sign of evil but is
