Pugs Are The Best Breed Of Dog
Pugs Are the Best Breed of Dog!
Did you ever wonder what the overall best breed of dog is? Although there are many breeds of dogs, I think pugs are the greatest. They are a specific
breed of dog that originated from china, they are funny and smart. They have a lifespan of 12–15 years (average). Also they are considered to be in the
toy section of dogs but are said to be the biggest toy dog out of all of the dogs says the American Kennel Club (A.K.C). One reason I think pugs are the
best breed is that they have the most character, they are very playful, and are one of the smartest dog breed in the world.
First of all, Pugs have character. In the many years that people have had pugs they have been said to have character. They are said to be... Show more

Although pugs "have a lot of body in a small amount of space" says Latin pug owners. They are one of the most playful dogs. They can run, play
fetch, tug of war, and many other forms of playing. Pugs can even play with more character than other dogs. They can be ferocious, mean, and vicious
while playing too. This was one reason that I think Pugs are one of the greatest dog breeds.
Lastly, Pugs are the ninth smartest breed of dog. They are very smart. They can learn to do many tricks such as sit, lay down, roll over, paw, and
many others. But pugs can learn the tricks much faster than average dogs. They can also learn more tricks at a time than other dogs can. Queen
Elizabeth l had a pug that learned to do many tricks such as even sitting in her lap, and the pugs have learned in their own way how to be royal just
like their queen. This was one reason why I think pugs are the greatest dog breeds.
In conclusion I think pugs are the best breed of dog. Overall they have great character, also they are great players, and are the ninth smartest breed
of dog. In the many months that I have had a pug I think they are the best. They are the sweetest dogs I ever met. And I even see them react to our
feelings too. Like if we are sad they come to you and cuddle with you to make you feel better. Overall if we didn't have pugs no one would want to buy

Essay On Breed Banning
Most dog owners and lovers would agree that pets are like family. Each animal with their own personality, responses, and personal temperament. It is
nearly impossible to create broad generalizations based just on one breed. Breed specific legislation, or breed banning, is an ordinance passed by local
government basically outlawing a specific breed or group of breeds of dogs that are considered dangerous.
Banning specific breeds is not an effective method for keeping the public safe from dog bites or attacks. The ban does not account for differences in
each dog's temperament, socialization, or behavior displayed by individual dogs, but groups all dogs of specific breeds as dangerous. Breed banning
does not control the problem of dangerous ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I myself own a two year old female American pit bull. She has never shown any kind of aggression, yet, it is nearly impossible for me to live in any
apartment home due to these breed restrictions.
Although these dogs are stereotyped as being "dangerous", bite statistics, when accurately reported, do not back up those claims. The first thing is to
find out which dogs are doing the biting. Dundee Hospital in the UK conducted a study designed to analyze bite reports and medical attention required
by bite victims over a three month period before and after the implementation of a breed ban specifically targeting pit bulls. The results indicated no
change in the number of bites reported. Banning pit bulls did nothing to change the amount of dog bites.
Most breed laws are poorly written and do not take into account the individual temperaments of the dogs considered vicious. Mandatory leash laws
are much more effective in controlling dog bites, when the proper resources are available to enforce the laws. Mandatory leash laws do not
stereotype dogs based on their breed and put the responsibility back in the hands of the owner. Some cities have bans so strict that if a specific breed,
usually pit bulls, and or pit bull mixes is within city limits that have the breed ban, the dogs are confiscated and

Breed Specific Legislation
Everyday, animals worldwide are discriminated upon strictly because of their appearances. Could you imaging your beloved chihuahua being
taken out of your home and killed for the sole reason of it looking "aggressive"? For many, this vision is a harsh reality. Dogs of several breeds are
becoming banned and illegal to own because some consider them an aggressive breed or a threat to the safety of others around them. This
discrimination is inhumane and should ultimately be stopped. Breed Specific Legislation (BSL) is the law that bans or restricts certain types of dogs
based on their appearance, usually because they are perceived as "dangerous" breeds or types of dogs. In many cases, the classification of these breeds
are incorrect. The University... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
They aren't born aggressive. A dog's breed has far less to do with aggression than owner–dependent factors such as how a dog is trained. If a dog was
raised to fight or was brought up in a poor home environment, the dog is more likely to be aggressive regardless of its breed. The American
Temperament Test Society evaluated the temperaments of various dog breeds, 85.3% of American Pitbull Terriers passed the test whereas other
breeds such as Border Collies and Old English Sheep Dogs ranked in the 70th percentile. In many cases, the influence of owners have no effect on
the conduct of the dog. Take Lilly, for example. Lilly was a Pitbull gifted to an alcoholic as a method of sobering her up. As any humans can infer,
living with an alcoholic is no easy vocation, even for a dog. However, Lily's hard home life didn't clog her judgement. One night, Lilly's owner passed
out on a pair of train tracks with a train hot in pursuit. Thanks to none other than Lilly, her owner was pulled off the tracks just in time. Although her
owner escaped without scratch, Lilly wasn't as fortunate. Even with life–threatening injuries, Lilly remained by her owner's side until help arrived.
Ultimately, Lilly had to undergo several serious surgeries and ended up losing a leg. Lilly, a pitbull, put her inattentive owner's life above her own.
Even today, Lilly and her owner remain best friends even though that commitment almost cost her her

Essay about Breeds for the Khajijit: A Type of Feline...
The Khajiit are a type of feline humanoids who are a beast race found in Tamriel. Their cat–like stature and influence is due to their facial features.
Their bodies are also exceptionally agile for appearing like that of a human. One of the main characteristics of the Khajiit is they are light–footed. This
means they are stealthy which makes then well–suited to be thieves and assassins.
The total number of breeds for the Khajijit is estimated to be at 17. However, the only breed which can be found in the game is the Suthay–raht. This
breed of Khajiit makes an excellent warrior for their skill with a blade. The Khajiit have a love of wealth a sense of adventure, and are quite outgoing.

This meant that lucrative trading was frequent and is a main skill which is passed down through each generation.
The year 1E 2260 marked the beginning of the Thrassian Plague which decimated many of the Khajiit kingdoms. This plague was spread deliberately
by a race called the Sload. There is no written record to the extent this was done. There were only two Khajiit kingdoms which survived this onslaught.
This is the reason for the alliances that exist today.
The rulers of the two surviving kingdoms discovered their chances for ultimate survival were to merge their two kingdoms. The Kingdom of Pellitine
being ruled by Eshita needed to unite with the Kingdom of Anequina that was ruled by Keirgo. The result of this unification was the province of
Elsweyr. After the kingdoms were merged there was a blending of cultures. This often led to increased tensions. Each culture was vastly different and
total assimilation took a further 15 years.
Compromise was reached when the merged kingdom decided the seat of power should circulate so the leadership would rotate among many. This
was a way to establish a fair way of ruling and to eliminate any tension created due to one class feeling inferior. All concerns among the Kajiit could be
taken into account equally. This system was implemented by Mane Rid–T'har–ri'Datta and would be governed by the phases of the moon.
History would eventually repeat itself as another plague ravaged the Khajiit race in 2E 560. A

Essay on Choosing the Best Dog Breed for Your Family
For millions of years dogs have remained a constant companion of man. Bred from the aggressive and formidable Gray Wolf tens of thousands of years
ago the domestic dog now lives in many homes across the world. Where in the far distant past the domestic dog was bred as a guard animal, a beast of
burden, and even a food source the dogs of today are bred for a far more endearing purpose–companionship and love. Finding a pet dog that is more of
a joy than a chore is necessary when asking: How much is that puppy in the window?
"The American Kennel Club recognizes 150 different breeds of dogs and that number can soar to more than 400 if you count mixed breeds" (Sarah
McCurdy). So how does a family decide on just one particular dog when ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Newfoundland is categorized as a large breed of dog in the AKC Working Group. "Newfs" can range between 22 to 28 inches tall from the
shoulder and normally weigh 100 to 150 pounds. Their coat coloring can be either solid or landseer and come in Grays, Browns, or Black, or a
White base coat with Black markings. The history of the breed is thought to originate from a Canadian island for which the Newfoundland is
named. Used as a workhorse and fishing aid, the Newfoundland's job was to pull angler nets to shore, haul wood from the forests, and power
blacksmith's bellows (American Kennel Club). The temperament of the dog is best described by its nickname, "The Gentle Giant" patience,
intelligence, and docile manners, make him an ideal family dog. Newfoundland's require daily exercise and should be brushed regularly to
maintain their beautiful coat. Fourth on the list of top dogs, The Pug, is well described by the phrase "multum in parvo" which means "a lot of
dog in a small space" (American Kennel Club). Categorized as a small breed in the AKC Toy group, the Pug normally gets 11 to 14 inches tall from
the shoulders and weighs 14 to 18 pounds. The Pug is known for its "mask" around the mussel and the color of the coat can be either Black or Fawn.
The history of this particular breed of dog originates from Asia where they were used mainly as companion dogs to Buddhist monks. AKC states that
the breeding purpose of Pugs was mainly for companionship and

Breed Discrimination Research Paper
What exactly is breed discrimination? Good question. Also known as Breed Specific Legislation, (BSL) it is the targeting towards dogs based off
of their appearance. Remember when our teachers told us to never judge a book by its cover? Society is doing just that to the innocent dogs who are
neglected because of history and abusive owners. How do people know what something is like until they have given it a chance? Society is judging
dogs like Pitbulls, German Shepherds, Rottweilers and more, based on what they have heard about the dog. The over exaggerating news creates a
vicious picture in the human minds about these innocent breeds of dogs, even though the people that judge have never actually owned one of these
dogs before. There are

Animal Breeders : A New Dog Breed
If you are allergic to dogs, the Goldendoodle or Groodle is the perfect fit for you! This lovable and playful breed is a cross between a Poodle and a
Golden Retriever. Ready to learn more? Here are some amazing facts about Goldendoodles:
Goldendoodles Are Considered Newbies
Did you know Goldendoodles are a relatively new dog breed? They first appeared in North America and Australia in the 1990s after breeders realized a
larger poodle hybrid would appeal to people who wanted a bigger hypoallergenic dog.
This Designer Dog is Naturally Vigorous
Most Goldendoodles are a first generation hybrid or "designer dog". Animal breeders use the term 'hybrid vigor ' to refer to a certain vivacity and
resilience displayed in the first generation 's behavior due to breeding two purebred dogs. This is especially true when the parents are very different dog
breeds. Dogs with hybrid vigor are usually far healthier than either of the dog 's purebred parents. They can also benefit from having the best qualities
of both breeds. Hybrid vigor gradually disappears over successive generations.
Got Allergies? Don 't Grab a Kleenex, Grab A Goldendoodle!
Just like most poodle hybrids, Goldendoodles do not shed very much. This makes the dog a great choice for people who are mildly allergic to animals.
A Goldendoodle 's coat is shaggier than a Golden Retriever but not nearly as curly as a Poodle 's coat. The color of a Goldendoodle 's coat can vary and
may appear orange, cream, dark brown, gray,

Dog Breeds That Are Discriminated Against Unfairly
There are some dog breeds that are discriminated against unfairly. For example, Pit–Bulls and associated mixed breeds are known to have targets on
their backs. This is thanks to vague and poorly founded Breed Specific Legislation or "BSL". I am against Breed Specific Legislation, in my opinion,
it a product of the miseducation of the public at large. As well as, a misrepresentation of entire breeds by a few dogs who, due to circumstances beyond
their control acted out in a violent way. These actions unfortunately, have often brought harm to a human or other living creature.
When you turn on your television you may see a dog food commercial with a happy puppy with its head tilted to one side, you may also see a car
commercial where the boy and the happy–go–lucky dog grow up together as dad drives the same car year after year. Rarely if ever is the dog in such a
scenario of a Bully or Wolf–Hound breed. This is often attributed to the fact that these particular canine types look a certain way, exhibit certain
behaviors, or maybe they just are not as "cuddly" as other dog breeds. For reasons as silly and illogical as this, many dogs, and specifically many
Pit–Bulls are put to death, often without cause.
As a kid in the early 90's, I recall that Rottweilers were the "dangerous breed" of the time. Pit–Bulls and other breeds, now find themselves under that
same scrutiny. The fact is, that all dogs can be dangerous and are capable of harm. It will not be too long until the laws

Essay on With the Old Breed Book Report
"With The Old Breed" begins with the start of the author's military career. Eugene Sledge was a freshman at Marion Military institute, his family
pushing for him to eventually become an officer in the United States Army. But the authors desire to serve his country in battle with the enemy before
the war was over was strong enough to make him end his college career and begin anew in the Marine Corps. Already while reading this book I felt
closer and more understanding of the, because I too left college in the fear that if I didn't join now, I would never have another chance to serve my
country. Eugene sledge started school at Georgia Tech to eventually become an Officer. But realizing that he would spend most of the war sitting in...

It is here that he learns the true chaos, confusion, and terror of war. His experiences from this point on in the book are something that members of
any branch of service can learn from when seeking knowledge on what war is like, especially during the pacific campaign. Sledge and his company
spends three days on Peleliu before they are relieved and sent to another island, but during these three days he witnesses the first aspects of war. On one
occasion he witnessed a Marine kill another Marine at night after the Japanese broke through their lines. I think that this is something that unfortunately
happens more often than it should on the battlefield, both in the past and modern day. Situations like that can only be avoided through a more constant
focus on the situation and situational awareness. Eugene Sledge is greatly disturbed by this event and it causes him to realize the waste and cruelty of
war. Although perceived by the author as a terrible thing, the Pacific Campaign showed Eugene Sledge several things a normal man usually wouldn't
notice. Throughout the book marines are seen on litter duty; volunteering to run into the midst battle with a stretcher to carry out dead or wounded
Marines. This mindset of never leaving someone behind is still taught today. What it comes down to at its basic level is the love and loyalty that
brothers in arms share with one another. Examples of such selflessness can be seen today still, with the

The Highland Breed
Highland cattle are a breed of beef livestock that originated in the remote rugged Scottish Highlands. Two distinct classes originally existed: the
slightly smaller black Kyloe, and a larger animal red in color, but due to crossbreeding of the two strains, only one type exists today and is
registered as the Highland. The extreme conditions of Scotland created a process of natural selection in which only the fittest and most adaptable
animals survived to carry on the breed. The Highland's subtle changes over the past 200 years have resulted in a breed that is known for its
exceptional qualities: hardiness, maternal abilities, reproductive efficiency, and beef quality. Through natural selection, the Highland breed has been
through only slight changes in appearance to result in its characteristics today. Described as a frugal breed, the Highland requires minimal
management and care. Their double hair coat (long, coarse outer layer and soft wooly inner layer) is one of the most notable differences of the breed
in comparison to others, as it reduces the need for expensive barn housing. Highlands do not need a heavy layer of back fat for insulation, which
allows the cattle to marble naturally on low input forage while producing lean, low fat, high... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The book states the following of the Highland: "No cattle in this country have retained in greater uniformity the same characteristics as a distinct breed
than the Highlanders have done." Around that time, American cattlemen recognized the qualities of the breed and imported them to improve the blood
lines of their herds. As a result, the Highland contributed tremendously to the success of the American cattle industry. Since the business of beef
livestock is the amount and quality of the beef it produces, and today's market is demanding premium lean meat, the Highland carcass is ideally suited

Don’t Discriminate the Breed
How would you react if you became next to or close to a stray dog? Would you respond by running, yelling, or even kicking or hitting the animal?
Would you respond calmly, call animal control or even walk away? Just because the dog is mean doesn't make it aggressive. Aggression is such a
broad term and it's not all bad. The four types I am going to address are protective aggression, territorial aggression, fear–motivated aggression, and
pain–induced aggression. Aggression that happens when a mother protects a family member whether it is human or another animal is called
protective aggression. Dogs that want to protect/defend their home or area is territorial aggression. An example is when you dog chases up and down
the fence line. When a dog is scared it may protect itself for their own safety. That is known as fear–motivated aggression. This often occurs most then
a dog is stuck or cornered. Pain–induced aggression is when a dog is in pain it can respond aggressively. When they do that it is to try and help their
selves but it may injury someone else. That is why when you are approaching a wounded animal you do so with caution. A lot of people say
aggression is random but it's not. Aggression can be triggered many ways. It is also always response to something in the dog's environment whether it
is an action of a human or the appearance/attitude of another dog. Cesar Millan says any breed can cause trouble. The difference between an
aggressive small breed like a Chihuahua

Book Report on With the Old Breed by E.B. Sledge In the book, With the Old Breed, Eugene B. Sledge, shares his recollections from the perilous
and triumphant events of World War II, while serving in the U.S. Marine Corps. During his time as a Marine, he fought two major battles against
the Japanese, on the Pacific islands of Peleliu and Okinawa. Throughout the book, E.B. Sledge illustrates his encounters during the war and how
they left an everlasting effect on his mind and view of life. As a member of the Company K, 3rd Battalion, and 1st Marine Division he illustrates the
pride he developed in his division with the members he worked alongside. Nicknamed "Sledgehammer", Sledge also described the strong sense of
camaraderie he developed and shared among his fellow soldiers. At the beginning of the memoir, Sledge describes his feelings and situations as a
young adult enlisting into the military for World War II. Eventually after some weeks into his infantry training of becoming a U.S. Marine, he learns
the skills on how to become a strong and dependable soldier against the unforgiving army of the Japanese. During his time in combat, Sledge describes
the strong and brash personalities of the Marine personnel he fights alongside and their persistence in working together to defeat the enemy. These

person who needs a constant companion and something special in a dog is the Weimaraner because they are very adoptable, the most intelligent,
most beautifully structured and athletic, and have the best overall warm, sweet, fun, loving, loyal, and sometimes even the kookiest personalities of
all dogs. The physical structures and athletic prowess of Weimaraners are superior to that of all dogs in the best individuals of the breed. Their
strength is based on their tall, lean, and athletic structure, as the best of the breed is never thick or bulky in any part of their physiology. Their

The Two Breed Crossbreeding System
b) Three breed cross: In this system of crossbreeding three breeds are used. The bulls of three breeds are used in rotation in successive generations of
crossbred females of the previous generation (37,55). This is thus called the rotational crossing. This system is practiced to maintain heterozygosity and
to utilize heterosis for maternal ability of the crossbred dams (55). Three breed cross requires the input of three separate breeds (55). Along similar
principles as with backcross, all first cross male progeny are sold. First cross females are joined with bulls of a third unrelated breed, instead of with
one of the parent breeds as in the backcross. All progeny of F1 dams are sold for slaughter (55). This system takes advantage of both... Show more

This system is an excellent choice as it produces maximum heterosis in both the calf and cow (51). As such, calves obtain the additional growth
benefits of hybrid vigor while heterosis in the cows improves their maternal ability. The terminal cross system is one of the simplest systems to
implement and achieves the highest use of heterosis and breed complementarities (17,44). All calves marketed will have the same breed composition.
A 24% increase in pounds of calf weaned per cow exposed is expected from this system when compared to the average of the parent breeds.
3) BREEDING FOR COMPOSITE –
Development of a composite or synthetic breed results from the crossing of two or more existing breeds (43). There are many examples of this in
Queensland: Santa Gertrudis, Drought master, Braford, Charbray, Brangus and Belmont Red. The primary advantage of forming composite breeds is
that after the initial crosses are made, management requirements are the same as for straight breeding. McDowell

Breed Specific Legislation Against Pitbulls
Dogs seem to be one of the most common and beloved pets in our society. Many even consider their dog to be a family member. One thing that is
especially great about dogs is that there are many different breeds of dogs out there that have different characteristics, and traits. Which gives people
the option to choose the type of dog that is right for them, but one breed in particular has been banned in various places, and discriminated against that
breed being pit bulls. Breed specific legislation targets pit bulls based on misconceptions, appearance, and poor knowledge about the breed. Breed
Specific Legislation and discrimination in general are not justifiable against pit bulls. Pit bulls have not always been viewed as the vicious killer. ...

News, and the media are very biased they are more interested in covering a story of a pit bull attack over any other breed. We generally hear in the
news of pit–bull attack but we never hear anything about other breeds of dog that have been involved in attacks. Holland notes an AlterNet article that,
When an Arizona woman was killed by one or more dogs identified as Labrador retrievers, one local newspaper reported the story. But that same year,
when a California man was killed by one or more pitbulls, the incident was reported "by at least 285 media outlets, both nationally (in 47 U.S. states)
and internationally (in eight other countries).
It is unfortunate that the media uses pit bulls to gain attention. Media promotes negative attention toward pit bulls just because pit bulls have a false
reputation of being aggressive, and dangerous. Another example of this is when a Siberian husky killed an infant, and only 12 news outlets covered
the story. But in a separate event where an infant was killed by what looked like a pit bull in the same month over 200 media outlets covered the story

bulls are dangerous, and that maybe they should be banned since they attack people. When in reality other breeds of dogs bite and attack just

First, we will look at the meaning of BSL.
Body
I.What exactly is BSL?
A.According to the National Canine Research Council, "Breed–specific legislation (BSL), also referred to as breed–discriminatory legislation (BDL), is
a law or ordinance that prohibits or restricts the keeping of dogs of specific breeds, and/or dogs presumed to be mixes of one or more of those breeds."
1)Most extreme case of BSL, is a complete ban, but it can also be any laws that impose separate requirements such as: mandatory spay/neuter,
mandatory muzzling, special liability insurance, special licensing, etc.
B."Breed specific" means certain breed.
1)Breed generally targeted are: American Bulldog, American Staffordshire Terrier,American Pit Bull Terrier, Bull Terrier, Cane Corso, Chow Chow,
Doberman Pinscher, Dogo Argentina, German Shepherd Dog, Miniature Bull Terrier, "Pit bull" (please note that "pit bull" is not a breed of dog), Presa
Canario, Staffordshire Bull Terrier, Rottweiler, and wolf–hybrids.
2)Also target any dogs suspected of being a mix of any these or even look like these breeds.
Now that we know what BSL is, let's look at the arguments of those who support it.

Breed Specific Legislation Research Paper
Pitbulls and the Breed Specific Legislation Breed–specific legislation is not as functional or as useful as it was intended to be. According to Fred Kray
of StopBSL.com, "Breed specific legislation (BSL) is a law that bans OR restricts certain types of dogs based on their appearance, usually because
they are perceived as 'dangerous' breeds or types of dogs". These restrictions include total exclusion of certain breeds from individual cities, muzzle
requirements for dogs in public, the requirement of purchasing liability insurance for dog bites or even the requirement of placing a "vicious dog"
tag on the dog's collar just to name a few. BSL causes the bully breeds (breeds considered dangerous and most importantly, have a Pitbull terrier
appearance) to become more dangerous, leads to the discrimination of individual breeds, and causes Pitbulls to be put down when surrendered to

Legislation Of Breed Specific Legislation
In a perfect world there would be no need to create legislation to control dogs, because all dogs would be perfectly trained and would never attack
humans. However, we do not live in a perfect world, we live in a world where dogs do attack and do cause harm. We do have legislation that has been
passed to try and control certain breeds of dog called Breed Specific Legislation (BSL). It has proven to be a kind of murky area for most people, as
those against it believe that targeting certain breeds does not help control the fact that dogs of all breeds have the ability to attack and/or bite.
While they are not against finding a way to gain control over these attacks, they are against the idea that just a couple of breeds should be singled
out for the legislation's use. I feel that Breed Specific Legislation (BSL) should not be the only plan we have in place to help keep dogs from
attacking. There have been studies done that show that Breed Specific Legislation does not work as well as originally thought. I propose a plan
that I feel would help bring about a bigger change than breed specific legislation, because it includes all breeds of dog not just certain breeds. I
propose that we instill a process that all people who want to adopt or own any breed of dog must go through. This plan includes different classes,
testing, and training of both the dog and owner as well as yearly checkups.

While I love the stray, mixed breed dog (always appreciative of what you offer them in a home) as well as the pure breed dogs I have owned such as
Poodles, German Shepherds, Pekingese, and Yorkshire Terriers, it is the SHIH TZU (pronounced SHEET

me; an impression that guarantees that I will always maintain at least one of this breed in my home at all times. If there is a more adorable puppy
body on the planet than the Shih Tzu, I have not seen it. Golden Retriever puppies are Americana, Maltese pups are breathtaking, and bulldogs are regal

them from harsh weather. They come in many colors from white, sable, black, spotted, tri colored, and beige. Their shaggy ears and big eyes give
them a cute appearance, as well as their rounded black or brown nose. Aidis have a very friendly look to them which make them perfect household
pets. Temperament Aidis are energetic and love to get exercise, especially since herding and guarding is in their blood. They are always alert and
ready to enjoy their day with their masters. These dogs have a keen sense of smell and are usually found sniffing anything they come by. They can
be very sensitive and they need attention from their loved ones when they appear lonely or are not acting themselves. Aidis love to chase, catch,
and run with their owners at any given chance. Grooming Like with any thick coated dog, they need special grooming two times a week or else
they will shed much more than usual. A bath should be at least a month and special shampoo for double coat dogs should be used. They should be
trimmed nicely around the summer months as extensive heat can be very uncomfortable for them. Health They need their daily exercise in the form
of running or walking, as when they stay indoors they are not as active as they should be. They can live up to thirteen years if no health problems

The Pit Bull Is The Most Misunderstood Breed Essay
If you owned an animal, would you love and take care of it or would you deliberately and maliciously inflict pain upon it? Dog fighting is one of the
most heinous forms of animal cruelty, and it continues to occur in every part of the country and in every type of community. The pit bull is the most
misunderstood breed that has such a bad reputation today due to the percentage of people that idolize the breed and common misconceptions against
them. Dog fighting is an insidious underground organized crime that deserves much legal and political investigation. The blood sport is embraced by
medieval gentry and later promoted by colonial and Victorian miscreants, is now completely outlawed in the United States. As a result, the absolute
prohibition in America, it has reached epidemic proportions in all urban communities and continues to thrive in many rural areas as well. The blood
sport of dog fighting involves a contest between two dogs, primarily pit bulls, fighting each other in front of spectators for entertainment and
gambling purposes. Dogfight's are stages in a variety of settings. In rural areas, they are often staged in barns or outdoor pits. In urban areas, fights are
staged in garages, basements, warehouses, and abandoned buildings. Before the match, the dogs are weighed and washed to ensure that they are not
covered in poison. During the match, the dogs quietly maul each other until a 'turn' is called. Matches end when a dog quits or dies, when a handler

Eugene B. Sledge, With The Old Breed: At Peleliu and Okinawa, (Novato, California: Presidio Press, 1981)
With The Old Breed is an amazing narrative about the triumphs and defeats of the Kilo Company, Third Battalion, Fifth Marines in which Private
First Class (PFC) Eugene B. Sledge is apart of while on the islands of Peleliu and Okinawa during World War II. Both of these battles were known
for their bloody and brutal fights. Sledge gives incredible descriptions of his personal experiences dealing with the climate and conditions of which he

The battle for Okinawa was the ultimate test of the fortitude of men in combat. Their resolve was tested daily as the fight consumed men and energy
at a rate never experienced in fighting in the Pacific. For the infantry units, the losses were hard to comprehend, when compared to what are
considered heavy losses by today's standards. Sledge describes the challenges of climate as the Marines deal with cold, rain and heat, all the while
engaging the enemy in fierce combat. The sustained exposure to the stresses of combat, push the men to their limits and beyond as they fight for
control of the island. Almost when he thinks he can't take anymore fighting or any more deaths of his friends. They get news on June 21st 1945 that
the island is finally secured and they will soon be leaving the island. You can tell this immediately gives hope and reassures Sledge that he wont lose
it psychologically like he had seen happen to many of his fellow comrades. Sledge stops and breathes for a moment and eats some fresh fruit, smokes
his pipe and looks out over the beautiful open sea.
Throughout all the turmoil that Sledge went through during the war, he was able to keep his sanity along with a compassionate optimism for humanity
and that to me tells you that he truly was a great Marine.

Breed-Specific Legislation Essay
In order to effectively enforce breed–specific legislation, the focus should be more on the owners of the dogs rather than dogs themselves. Although it
is the dog performing the aggressive actions, through harsh enforcement of laws and consequences, owners will become more responsible for their
dogs' actions. Without breed–specific legislation, dog owners will simply be able to avoid penalties and consequences caused by their dog. For
instance, in the early 1980s, the number of fatalities and injuries caused by certain breeds like pit bulls brought the public's attention "a perceived need
for more stringent laws governing restraint of dogs" (AVMA).
Promoting laws that educate owners the consequences of owning an aggressive dog such as a pit bull and will significantly reduce the number of dog
attacks. Additionally, possessing an aggressive breed should be stricter since there are many uneducated people in our society who will take a
random breed without understanding its background and potential to harm other people and dogs. There are many dog attacks in societies, however,
there are many cases where there is no conviction of the owner which is why BSL is crucial to serve justice for the victim of the dog attack. Many

Racial profiling had existed since biblical times, and is still present in today's society. Recently in history we had the tragic terrorist attacks on
September 11, 2001. It did not take long for the fear of anyone from the Middle East to ripple through America. Wearing a turban in public would get
people falsely accused of being a violent terrorist. Over and over again people foolishly stereotype and judge individuals based on their race or
appearance. One of the most recent victims of profiling is the pit bull. Simply looking like or being a pit bull gets many loving creatures falsely
accused of being violent, uncontrollable monsters. Pit bulls are the major target of legislation that bans or restricts certain types of dogs based solely ...

When BSL is enacted in a community it gives the citizens a false sense of security. They believe that all the "dangerous" dogs are done away with.
Breed–specific laws have a tendency to compromise rather than enhance public safety. When limited animal control resources are used to regulate or
ban a certain breed of dog, without regard to behavior, the focus is shifted away from routine, effective enforcement of laws that have the best chance
of making our communities safer: dog license laws, leash laws, animal fighting laws, anti–tethering laws, laws facilitating spaying and neutering and
laws that require all owners to control their dogs, regardless of breed.
BSL fails at make communities safer from dog bites and attacks. There has been no conclusive data that even suggest that BSL has prevented dog bites
or attacks. An Australian study conducted in 2006 entitled,Breed–specific Legislation and the Pit Bull Terrier: Are the laws justified?, concluded that
the data collected in the United States to support the theory that pit bulls posed a unique danger to the public is flawed by methodological

Who Is The Shih Tzu Dog Breed
The Shih Tzu dog breed survived a tragic history to become one of the most popular toy breeds around today. Shih Tzu historical information reveals

are no restrictions on how law enforcement is supposed deal with retrieve the animal, it targets a specific breed, it targets a specific breed and there are
no restrictions on how to return a dog.
First, there is no true way on how to take an animal in or how to deal with the animals. In certain parts in New Mexico, they are allowed to open
your car or enter your house when you're not there and take your dog. "In the city of Albuquerque, New Mexico you are required to register your

Third there are no restrictions returning the dog in any state. If your dog happens to not be a Pit Bull and it is taken it is your job to prove that your dog
is not a Pit Bull. If you cannot they have the right to put the dog down. "If your dog escapes and kills a livestock you must put the dog down and pay

Breed Specific Legislation refers to a law or set of regulations applicable to certain types of dog breeds. The law forbids the possession of certain
dogs believed as dangerous to both the owner and the general public (Walden). BSL allows punishment of innocent animals while owners never fault,

The Breeds Of The Breed
There are many misconceptions about the canine breed "pitbull." Though believe it or not, there is no such thing. Typically, there are around three to
five different breeds that are considered pitbulls. The American Pit Bull Terrier, American Staffordshire Terrier, Staffordshire Bull Terrier, American
Bulldog, and the Bull Terrier are the breeds that are considered pitbulls (Alvarado. 2016). The Staffordshire Bull Terriers' biological background will be
the highlight of this research. Specifically, their taxonomic group, characteristics of the species, developmental process, behavior, and some diseases
that can/will affect the animal. Many things can be reconsidered after obtaining information about this uncertain animal.
The first category that will be explained is the taxonomic group. Canines are listed under the family Canidae, which includes only dog–like mammals.
For example, coyotes, foxes, wolves, and jackals. Going further down the taxonomic scale, there is the genus Canis. The Canis is specific to canines,
while the species Canis lupus only includes wolves and family dogs. Finally, the subspecies Canis Lupus Familiaris, particularly family dogs, which
includes multiple breeds, all with their own characteristics and traits ("Levels of classification," n.d.). There are many characteristics of the Canis

The Poodle: Breed Standards
Describing the Poodle as an individual breed is best articulated by whats called a "breed standard." This specific standard is compared with what
genetics determine – a dog's physical characteristics, such as height, weight, body type, color, or coat. Breed standards also spell out the breeds desired
temperament, personality, and faults. Breed standards assigned by a kennel or dog club may vary slightly from nation to nation, and can change over
time.
In a nutshell, the breed standard paints a picture of what the ideal Poodle should look like and how it should act, making it distinct and special from
other breeds. Only those dogs that most closely meet the standard receive championship status or are elected to be bred, at least in theory. The first

the shoulder, Miniatures are 15 inches or less, and Standards are 15 inches or taller.
These three are the only sizes recognized by the American Kennel Club, though prospective Poodle buyers may find "teacup" (very small Toys) or
"royal" (very large Standards) Poodles as one of their choices. However, these are not AKC–accepted

Dog Breed Specific Legislation Essay
Dog Breed Specific Legislation Imagine someone has just moved to a different town and the townspeople decide that the person that just came to
town is a threat, so the town creates rules that say the new person is not allowed to do certain things or go to certain places. This is how I suspect the
following dog breeds feel nowadays: Pit Bull, German Shepherd, Rottweiler, Jack Russell Terrier, Spaniel, Collie, Saint Bernard, and Labrador
Retriever. A lot of people feel strongly for our furry friends and when they found out about this legislation they wanted it shut down completely.Dog
Breed Specific Legislation is a problem that not many people know about and I wanted to make it known to hopefully help stop this controversy. We
should not legislate ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Using the death based approach, 66 out of 76 of the Pit bull type were purebreds and the rest were crossbreeds, 17 out of 27 were purebreed German
Shepherd dogs, 7 out of 8 were purebreed Saint Bernards, and 1 out of 5 were Labrador Retrievers (Stacks et al. 838). The rest of the totals were cross
breeds. Using the dog–based approach, 98 out of 118 were purebred Pit bull–type, 24 out of 41 were German Shepherd, and 7 out of 8 were purebreed
Saint Bernard (Stacks et al. 838). Out of all these studies, they found out that 24% were deaths involved with unrestrained dogs off the owner's
property, 58% were unrestrained dogs on the owner's property, and 17% involved restrained dogs on the owner's property, and 1% involved a
restrained dog off the owner's property (838). This however can be justified, most of these dogs bite for a reason just like people may lash out on
other people if they are mad or angry. In an article done by the American Veterinary Medical Association they said that " Based on behavioral
assessments and owner surveys the breeds that were more aggressive towards people were small to medium– sized dogs (2)". They mentioned that
since they are small they are less likely to inflict serious bite injuries. Pit bull owners deal with dogs with a strong breed stigma, which basically means
that they need more time to be played with and attention to them. They are the ones that get the most attention when they are on news stations because
they are a bigger breed and the

Pugs Are The Best Breed For Their Character And Intelligence

  • 1. Pugs Are The Best Breed Of Dog Pugs Are the Best Breed of Dog! Did you ever wonder what the overall best breed of dog is? Although there are many breeds of dogs, I think pugs are the greatest. They are a specific breed of dog that originated from china, they are funny and smart. They have a lifespan of 12–15 years (average). Also they are considered to be in the toy section of dogs but are said to be the biggest toy dog out of all of the dogs says the American Kennel Club (A.K.C). One reason I think pugs are the best breed is that they have the most character, they are very playful, and are one of the smartest dog breed in the world. First of all, Pugs have character. In the many years that people have had pugs they have been said to have character. They are said to be... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Although pugs "have a lot of body in a small amount of space" says Latin pug owners. They are one of the most playful dogs. They can run, play fetch, tug of war, and many other forms of playing. Pugs can even play with more character than other dogs. They can be ferocious, mean, and vicious while playing too. This was one reason that I think Pugs are one of the greatest dog breeds. Lastly, Pugs are the ninth smartest breed of dog. They are very smart. They can learn to do many tricks such as sit, lay down, roll over, paw, and many others. But pugs can learn the tricks much faster than average dogs. They can also learn more tricks at a time than other dogs can. Queen Elizabeth l had a pug that learned to do many tricks such as even sitting in her lap, and the pugs have learned in their own way how to be royal just like their queen. This was one reason why I think pugs are the greatest dog breeds. In conclusion I think pugs are the best breed of dog. Overall they have great character, also they are great players, and are the ninth smartest breed of dog. In the many months that I have had a pug I think they are the best. They are the sweetest dogs I ever met. And I even see them react to our feelings too. Like if we are sad they come to you and cuddle with you to make you feel better. • 2. Essay On Breed Banning Most dog owners and lovers would agree that pets are like family. Each animal with their own personality, responses, and personal temperament. It is nearly impossible to create broad generalizations based just on one breed. Breed specific legislation, or breed banning, is an ordinance passed by local government basically outlawing a specific breed or group of breeds of dogs that are considered dangerous. Banning specific breeds is not an effective method for keeping the public safe from dog bites or attacks. The ban does not account for differences in each dog's temperament, socialization, or behavior displayed by individual dogs, but groups all dogs of specific breeds as dangerous. Breed banning does not control the problem of dangerous ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I myself own a two year old female American pit bull. She has never shown any kind of aggression, yet, it is nearly impossible for me to live in any apartment home due to these breed restrictions. Although these dogs are stereotyped as being "dangerous", bite statistics, when accurately reported, do not back up those claims. The first thing is to find out which dogs are doing the biting. Dundee Hospital in the UK conducted a study designed to analyze bite reports and medical attention required by bite victims over a three month period before and after the implementation of a breed ban specifically targeting pit bulls. The results indicated no change in the number of bites reported. Banning pit bulls did nothing to change the amount of dog bites. Most breed laws are poorly written and do not take into account the individual temperaments of the dogs considered vicious. Mandatory leash laws are much more effective in controlling dog bites, when the proper resources are available to enforce the laws. Mandatory leash laws do not stereotype dogs based on their breed and put the responsibility back in the hands of the owner. Some cities have bans so strict that if a specific breed, usually pit bulls, and or pit bull mixes is within city limits that have the breed ban, the dogs are confiscated and ... • 3. Breed Specific Legislation Everyday, animals worldwide are discriminated upon strictly because of their appearances. Could you imaging your beloved chihuahua being taken out of your home and killed for the sole reason of it looking "aggressive"? For many, this vision is a harsh reality. Dogs of several breeds are becoming banned and illegal to own because some consider them an aggressive breed or a threat to the safety of others around them. This discrimination is inhumane and should ultimately be stopped. Breed Specific Legislation (BSL) is the law that bans or restricts certain types of dogs based on their appearance, usually because they are perceived as "dangerous" breeds or types of dogs. In many cases, the classification of these breeds are incorrect. The University... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... They aren't born aggressive. A dog's breed has far less to do with aggression than owner–dependent factors such as how a dog is trained. If a dog was raised to fight or was brought up in a poor home environment, the dog is more likely to be aggressive regardless of its breed. The American Temperament Test Society evaluated the temperaments of various dog breeds, 85.3% of American Pitbull Terriers passed the test whereas other breeds such as Border Collies and Old English Sheep Dogs ranked in the 70th percentile. In many cases, the influence of owners have no effect on the conduct of the dog. Take Lilly, for example. Lilly was a Pitbull gifted to an alcoholic as a method of sobering her up. As any humans can infer, living with an alcoholic is no easy vocation, even for a dog. However, Lily's hard home life didn't clog her judgement. One night, Lilly's owner passed out on a pair of train tracks with a train hot in pursuit. Thanks to none other than Lilly, her owner was pulled off the tracks just in time. Although her owner escaped without scratch, Lilly wasn't as fortunate. Even with life–threatening injuries, Lilly remained by her owner's side until help arrived. Ultimately, Lilly had to undergo several serious surgeries and ended up losing a leg. Lilly, a pitbull, put her inattentive owner's life above her own. Even today, Lilly and her owner remain best friends even though that commitment almost cost her her ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Their cat–like stature and influence is due to their facial features. Their bodies are also exceptionally agile for appearing like that of a human. One of the main characteristics of the Khajiit is they are light–footed. This means they are stealthy which makes then well–suited to be thieves and assassins. This meant that lucrative trading was frequent and is a main skill which is passed down through each generation. The year 1E 2260 marked the beginning of the Thrassian Plague which decimated many of the Khajiit kingdoms. This plague was spread deliberately by a race called the Sload. There is no written record to the extent this was done. There were only two Khajiit kingdoms which survived this onslaught. This is the reason for the alliances that exist today. The rulers of the two surviving kingdoms discovered their chances for ultimate survival were to merge their two kingdoms. The Kingdom of Pellitine being ruled by Eshita needed to unite with the Kingdom of Anequina that was ruled by Keirgo. The result of this unification was the province of Elsweyr. After the kingdoms were merged there was a blending of cultures. This often led to increased tensions. Each culture was vastly different and total assimilation took a further 15 years. Compromise was reached when the merged kingdom decided the seat of power should circulate so the leadership would rotate among many. This was a way to establish a fair way of ruling and to eliminate any tension created due to one class feeling inferior. All concerns among the Kajiit could be taken into account equally. This system was implemented by Mane Rid–T'har–ri'Datta and would be governed by the phases of the moon. History would eventually repeat itself as another plague ravaged the Khajiit race in 2E 560. • 5. Essay on Choosing the Best Dog Breed for Your Family For millions of years dogs have remained a constant companion of man. Bred from the aggressive and formidable Gray Wolf tens of thousands of years ago the domestic dog now lives in many homes across the world. Where in the far distant past the domestic dog was bred as a guard animal, a beast of burden, and even a food source the dogs of today are bred for a far more endearing purpose–companionship and love. The history of the breed is thought to originate from a Canadian island for which the Newfoundland is named. The temperament of the dog is best described by its nickname, "The Gentle Giant" patience, intelligence, and docile manners, make him an ideal family dog. Also known as Breed Specific Legislation, (BSL) it is the targeting towards dogs based off of their appearance. Remember when our teachers told us to never judge a book by its cover? Society is doing just that to the innocent dogs who are neglected because of history and abusive owners. How do people know what something is like until they have given it a chance? Society is judging dogs like Pitbulls, German Shepherds, Rottweilers and more, based on what they have heard about the dog. This lovable and playful breed is a cross between a Poodle and a Golden Retriever. Ready to learn more? Here are some amazing facts about Goldendoodles: Goldendoodles Are Considered Newbies Did you know Goldendoodles are a relatively new dog breed? They first appeared in North America and Australia in the 1990s after breeders realized a larger poodle hybrid would appeal to people who wanted a bigger hypoallergenic dog. This Designer Dog is Naturally Vigorous Most Goldendoodles are a first generation hybrid or "designer dog". Animal breeders use the term 'hybrid vigor ' to refer to a certain vivacity and resilience displayed in the first generation 's behavior due to breeding two purebred dogs. This is especially true when the parents are very different dog breeds. Dogs with hybrid vigor are usually far healthier than either of the dog 's purebred parents. They can also benefit from having the best qualities of both breeds. • 8. Dog Breeds That Are Discriminated Against Unfairly There are some dog breeds that are discriminated against unfairly. For example, Pit–Bulls and associated mixed breeds are known to have targets on their backs. This is thanks to vague and poorly founded Breed Specific Legislation or "BSL". I am against Breed Specific Legislation, in my opinion, it a product of the miseducation of the public at large. As well as, a misrepresentation of entire breeds by a few dogs who, due to circumstances beyond their control acted out in a violent way. These actions unfortunately, have often brought harm to a human or other living creature. When you turn on your television you may see a dog food commercial with a happy puppy with its head tilted to one side, you may also see a car commercial where the boy and the happy–go–lucky dog grow up together as dad drives the same car year after year. Rarely if ever is the dog in such a scenario of a Bully or Wolf–Hound breed. This is often attributed to the fact that these particular canine types look a certain way, exhibit certain behaviors, or maybe they just are not as "cuddly" as other dog breeds. For reasons as silly and illogical as this, many dogs, and specifically many Pit–Bulls are put to death, often without cause. As a kid in the early 90's, I recall that Rottweilers were the "dangerous breed" of the time. Pit–Bulls and other breeds, now find themselves under that same scrutiny. The fact is, that all dogs can be dangerous and are capable of harm. It will not be too long until the laws ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Eugene Sledge was a freshman at Marion Military institute, his family pushing for him to eventually become an officer in the United States Army. It is here that he learns the true chaos, confusion, and terror of war. His experiences from this point on in the book are something that members of any branch of service can learn from when seeking knowledge on what war is like, especially during the pacific campaign. Sledge and his company spends three days on Peleliu before they are relieved and sent to another island, but during these three days he witnesses the first aspects of war. On one occasion he witnessed a Marine kill another Marine at night after the Japanese broke through their lines. I think that this is something that unfortunately happens more often than it should on the battlefield, both in the past and modern day. Situations like that can only be avoided through a more constant focus on the situation and situational awareness. Eugene Sledge is greatly disturbed by this event and it causes him to realize the waste and cruelty of war. Although perceived by the author as a terrible thing, the Pacific Campaign showed Eugene Sledge several things a normal man usually wouldn't notice. Throughout the book marines are seen on litter duty; volunteering to run into the midst battle with a stretcher to carry out dead or wounded Marines. This mindset of never leaving someone behind is still taught today. What it comes down to at its basic level is the love and loyalty that brothers in arms share with one another. • 10. The Highland Breed Highland cattle are a breed of beef livestock that originated in the remote rugged Scottish Highlands. Two distinct classes originally existed: the slightly smaller black Kyloe, and a larger animal red in color, but due to crossbreeding of the two strains, only one type exists today and is registered as the Highland. The extreme conditions of Scotland created a process of natural selection in which only the fittest and most adaptable animals survived to carry on the breed. The Highland's subtle changes over the past 200 years have resulted in a breed that is known for its exceptional qualities: hardiness, maternal abilities, reproductive efficiency, and beef quality. Through natural selection, the Highland breed has been through only slight changes in appearance to result in its characteristics today. Described as a frugal breed, the Highland requires minimal management and care. Their double hair coat (long, coarse outer layer and soft wooly inner layer) is one of the most notable differences of the breed in comparison to others, as it reduces the need for expensive barn housing. • 11. Don’t Discriminate the Breed How would you react if you became next to or close to a stray dog? Would you respond by running, yelling, or even kicking or hitting the animal? Would you respond calmly, call animal control or even walk away? Just because the dog is mean doesn't make it aggressive. Aggression is such a broad term and it's not all bad. The four types I am going to address are protective aggression, territorial aggression, fear–motivated aggression, and pain–induced aggression. Aggression that happens when a mother protects a family member whether it is human or another animal is called protective aggression. Dogs that want to protect/defend their home or area is territorial aggression. An example is when you dog chases up and down the fence line. When a dog is scared it may protect itself for their own safety. That is known as fear–motivated aggression. This often occurs most then a dog is stuck or cornered. Pain–induced aggression is when a dog is in pain it can respond aggressively. When they do that it is to try and help their selves but it may injury someone else. That is why when you are approaching a wounded animal you do so with caution. A lot of people say aggression is random but it's not. Aggression can be triggered many ways. It is also always response to something in the dog's environment whether it is an action of a human or the appearance/attitude of another dog. Cesar Millan says any breed can cause trouble. Sledge, shares his recollections from the perilous and triumphant events of World War II, while serving in the U.S. Marine Corps. During his time as a Marine, he fought two major battles against the Japanese, on the Pacific islands of Peleliu and Okinawa. Throughout the book, E.B. Sledge illustrates his encounters during the war and how they left an everlasting effect on his mind and view of life. As a member of the Company K, 3rd Battalion, and 1st Marine Division he illustrates the pride he developed in his division with the members he worked alongside. Nicknamed "Sledgehammer", Sledge also described the strong sense of camaraderie he developed and shared among his fellow soldiers. At the beginning of the memoir, Sledge describes his feelings and situations as a young adult enlisting into the military for World War II. Eventually after some weeks into his infantry training of becoming a U.S. Marine, he learns the skills on how to become a strong and dependable soldier against the unforgiving army of the Japanese. During his time in combat, Sledge describes the strong and brash personalities of the Marine personnel he fights alongside and their persistence in working together to defeat the enemy. This system is practiced to maintain heterozygosity and to utilize heterosis for maternal ability of the crossbred dams (55). Three breed cross requires the input of three separate breeds (55). Along similar principles as with backcross, all first cross male progeny are sold. According to Fred Kray of StopBSL.com, "Breed specific legislation (BSL) is a law that bans OR restricts certain types of dogs based on their appearance, usually because they are perceived as 'dangerous' breeds or types of dogs". These restrictions include total exclusion of certain breeds from individual cities, muzzle requirements for dogs in public, the requirement of purchasing liability insurance for dog bites or even the requirement of placing a "vicious dog" tag on the dog's collar just to name a few. • 21. Legislation Of Breed Specific Legislation In a perfect world there would be no need to create legislation to control dogs, because all dogs would be perfectly trained and would never attack humans. However, we do not live in a perfect world, we live in a world where dogs do attack and do cause harm. We do have legislation that has been passed to try and control certain breeds of dog called Breed Specific Legislation (BSL). It has proven to be a kind of murky area for most people, as those against it believe that targeting certain breeds does not help control the fact that dogs of all breeds have the ability to attack and/or bite. While they are not against finding a way to gain control over these attacks, they are against the idea that just a couple of breeds should be singled out for the legislation's use. I feel that Breed Specific Legislation (BSL) should not be the only plan we have in place to help keep dogs from attacking. There have been studies done that show that Breed Specific Legislation does not work as well as originally thought. I propose a plan that I feel would help bring about a bigger change than breed specific legislation, because it includes all breeds of dog not just certain breeds. I propose that we instill a process that all people who want to adopt or own any breed of dog must go through. This plan includes different classes, testing, and training of both the dog and owner as well as yearly checkups. Shih Tzu historical information reveals that the breed has roots in royalty. The Empress bred her dogs for traits like loyalty, good disposition, and perfect facial features. She gave Shih Tzu puppies as gifts to Chinese nobility and foreign diplomats. Tragically, when the Empress died, her successor resented the dogs and the era they represented, and many dogs were killed. Information about Shih Tzu survivors indicates that the dogs began to appear in England and Scandinavia during the late 1920s and early 1930s, spreading in later years to the United States and Canada. Some of the dogs immigrated to North America after World War II, when soldiers... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Shih Tzu dogs have flat faces, bulging eyes, bowed front legs, and fierce facial expressions. The Shih Tzu's long, wavy coat adds elegance to its appearance. Acceptable colors for the breed's coat are solid gold or black, or a variety of multi–colored combinations. Diligent daily grooming is required to keep the coat from tangling and matting, but the results are well worth the effort, as the Shih Tzu's coat is a hallmark of the breed. The dog makes an excellent family pet but is equally content to be a companion for a single owner or a couple without children. The Shih Tzu is happiest when it is the center of attention, so families with infants or very young children are advised to wait until the children are a bit older before purchasing a Shih Tzu, to avoid potential problems with jealousy. The Shih Tzu breed survived a dangerous period in the twentieth century to become the one of the twenty–first century's most popular dog. The Shih Tzu is the ninth most popular registered breed in the American Kennel Club's 2006 most popular breed list, and this little dog's popularity continues to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 32. Breed Specific Legislation (BSL) 1.BSL stands for Breed Specific Legislation. BSL is a law that bans OR restricts certain types of dogs (based on their appearance), usually because they are perceived as "dangerous" breeds or types of dogs. 2.I support laws that protect people from harm and dogs which is what the BSL law is supposed to do, but the problem what the BSL is that there are no restrictions on how law enforcement is supposed deal with retrieve the animal, it targets a specific breed, it targets a specific breed and there are no restrictions on how to return a dog. First, there is no true way on how to take an animal in or how to deal with the animals. In certain parts in New Mexico, they are allowed to open your car or enter your house when you're not there and take your dog. • 33. Breed Morphs Marketing Plan Company: My company will be located in a Pennsylvania warehouse. Warehouse space is cheaper in Pennsylvania than in New Jersey, more space equates to more animals, which ultimately leads to more money. My company will specialize in breeding morph turtles and lizards. Morph means that the reptiles can have various colors and patterns. Some of them can even be albino, which will increase their worth because of how rare they are. This company is unique because I will be breeding turtles and lizards in morph form. People do not normally breed morphs in big businesses because they do not have the space. Morphs sell out quick, as one can almost count on them being sold in two months or less after birth, for a hefty price. Market opportunity: I will build my company through instagram by taking pictures daily of all the animals eating and close ups of their colors. I would house these and hornworms which only need a dark place to grow and can sell for 30 for 70 dollars. The pet store i was going to always ran out of crickets, which is bad. I would have a program where you could get weekly or monthly combined insects all for a lower cost than what the stores would sell. They cost nothing to maintain, which would be a profit. • 35. Breed Specific Legislation Breed Specific Legislation refers to a law or set of regulations applicable to certain types of dog breeds. The law forbids the possession of certain dogs believed as dangerous to both the owner and the general public (Walden). BSL allows punishment of innocent animals while owners never fault, giving the specific breed a bad name. According to the American Kennel Club Web site, an appellate court in Ohio ruled BSL as unconstitutional. No correlation between animal aggression and human aggression exists. Most dogs that live in at a shelter or safe house go through temperament testing. The study reliably identified seven factors potentially within the control of dog caretakers that co–occurred, in various combinations, in the overwhelming majority of the cases examined.14 It is based on investigative techniques not previously employed in dog bite–related fatality studies, which had relied primarily on media reports.15,16 This current study utilized sources more complete, verifiable and accurate than media reports. The researchers identified a co–occurrence of multiple, controllable factors: no able–bodied person being present to intervene (87.1 percent); the victim having no familiar relationship with the dog(s) (85.2 percent); failure to neuter/spay the dog(s) (84.4 percent); a victim's compromised ability, whether based on age or physical condition, to manage interactions with the dog(s) (77.4 percent); the owner keeping dog(s) as resident animals rather than family pets (76.2 percent); prior mismanagement of the dog(s) (37.5 percent); and abuse or neglect of the dog(s) (21.1 percent)" (4). This specific standard is compared with what genetics determine – a dog's physical characteristics, such as height, weight, body type, color, or coat. Breed standards also spell out the breeds desired temperament, personality, and faults. Breed standards assigned by a kennel or dog club may vary slightly from nation to nation, and can change over time. In a nutshell, the breed standard paints a picture of what the ideal Poodle should look like and how it should act, making it distinct and special from other breeds. Only those dogs that most closely meet the standard receive championship status or are elected to be bred, at least in theory. The first American Kennel Club official standard for the Poodle was approved in 1901. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In an article done by the American Veterinary Medical Association they said that " Based on behavioral assessments and owner surveys the breeds that were more aggressive towards people were small to medium– sized dogs (2)". They mentioned that since they are small they are less likely to inflict serious bite injuries.
