The fog grew so thick that the narrator could barely see in front of them. Tall men appeared as boys and giants due to the limited visibility. The fog clutched the narrator's throat, making them cough. With nothing but two heavy burning eyes, the narrator lost all sense of distance and space. Street lamps and car lights seemed indistinguishable from stars in the black fog. A passing man led the narrator home after they asked for directions, rapping on the stones in front of the house to reassure the narrator as they followed like a child being led by a blind man.
