Experiment 4
1. Science Fair for Young Children
Guided Experiments
EXPERIMENT: 5
Title of the experiment : Decoration on Plant Leaves
Problem : Why do leaves need sun light?
Aim/ Objective : The important of the sun light to the plants.
Hypothesis : Blocking light makes leaves unable to produce
food. It loses the chlorophyll, which gives leaves their
green colour.
Apparatus : A green plant, scissors, 3-by-5-inch piece of
construction paper, potted geranium and masking
tape.
Variables : Identify which variables are fixed/ manipulated/
responding variables.
Procedures : 1. Using scissors cut any shape out of the paper.
Trim so that a little smaller than one of the
plant’s largest leaves.
2. Make a loop of the tape and stick it to one side of
the shape.
3. Use tape to stick the shape to the upper surface of
the leaf.
4. Place the plant in a sunny location and wait for 5
days.
5. Remove the paper to reveal the pale shape
underneath.
Creativity : Try with 3 different colour of leaves.
Records / Data collecting : Summary should be written on the observation.
Calculation/ Graph (if have) :
Result : Please state your observation.
Conclusion : On your observation, based on relevant scientific
theory.
