Our homes celebrate context and individuality to give shape to the residents’ dreams and aspirations. We explore ways to elevate the quality of life through our understanding of spaces, structure, materials and techniques and imbue it with artisanal craftsmanship and bespoke detailing to create signature Home Architecture Design across scales and locations.
2. About Us
Founded in 2002 by Ambrish Arora, Ankur Choksi and Sidhartha
Talwar, Studio Lotus is acknowledged as a thought leader in the
country for its work in the domain of Architecture and Spatial
Design.
Our work is grounded on the principles of Conscious design, an
approach that celebrates local resources, cultural influences, a keen
attention to detail and an inclusive process. We follow an iterative
and incremental methodology of innovation and root our learning
in history and local context. We aim to craft benchmark solutions
that address society's changing ways of living and working.
We explore ways to engage the user, the way they move through the
space. We like taking design to an extremely conceptual stage. We
find inspiration in ordinary things, everyday events and chance
encounters.

The Plan
The commercial space of the Raro House of Fashion brand
in New Delhi reflects the turning point that women's
fashion is experiencing in the Indian subcontinent,
traditional in materials and details, contemporary in cut
and fit. In this context of transformation, the Raro House
of Fashion brings together two brands: Matsya and Basanti
Ke Kapde, who share the same spirit of innovation which
is then expressed in a different way. The interior design of
the store in New Delhi reproduces this duality, creating
two areas, visually connected to each other, within the
same rectangular space of 930 sq m located on the first
floor of a commercial building in the industrial area of
Naraina, Delhi.

The arrival lobby seamlessly extends the reception into a
lounge, which provides a quite space for he patrons to
unwind. The hotel's public spaces are spread across
three levels, the building's response to the stepped
profile of the site. Key gestures such as a timber and
stone backdrop behind the reception with carving
patterns, adaptation of rows of turn-wood spindles
found suspended on eaves of local roofs, and doorways
for the 6.5 m tall screens in the lobby, are to create a
distinct identity for the zones, expressed using regional
reinterpretations.

6. Architecture
The building orientation and fenestration design ensure
daylight optimization for all spaces, minimizing energy
consumption. Interior surfaces feature multi layered
insulation to regulate temperature and prevent heat
loss during winters. A radiant heating system optimizes
thermal comfort and energy use. The integration of the
native landscape, seasonal water bodies, and tree cover
ensure comfortable ambient temperatures. Hundred
percent of the wastewater is recycled and reused for
horticulture, and other purposes.

The spaces of the campus are thus designed to be
flexible and can be quickly repurposed. A central
semi-shaded spine allows both circulation and
community events. Lines of sight promote open
learning and a fluid experience. A variety of
spaces stimulate interaction and protect
introversion. The fluid design thus permits
surprising transformations, allows for change
over time without being affronted or damaged
and attempts to create a very human experience.
