Imvu hair submission
1. Step 1: Choose a hair to derive from. Go to the IMVU catalog and click the box to show
derivable products or click on the hair you like to go to the product page and then click on the
link for the derivation tree. If you choose to go with the derivation tree this will open a new
product page, at the bottom of the screen choose “Derive from product” to open the creator and
derive the product.
2. Step 2: I have chosen to click on the product “ –G- Tiffani blond. Now that I am on the product
page for this particular hair I can click on the blue link besides “Derived from:”. After clicking the
blue it will take you to the derivation product page.
3. Step 3: I am now on the derivation product page for the “Tiffani” hair. Once on this page go to the
very bottom of the screen, here you will find a blue link that says “Derive from product”. Click on
that link to open up the creator in IMVU to derive the product.
4. Step 4: Now we are in the creator program on IMVU. Here we will change the texture of the hair.
Make sure under “Material Parameters” that “Self Illuminated” is checked beside each texture and
“Vertex Colors” is unchecked beside each texture then “Apply Changes”. You can also go to your
outfits tab and put on a saved outfit to get rid of the default avatar, do not worry if you have other
hair saved to the outfit, the product you are deriving will override that hair.
5. Step 5: We are now going to select a different texture for the hair we are deriving.
Underneath “Texture Assets” click on “Edit” on the texture that is already there (do not
edit or change the opacity map!!). A new box will open showing your pictures folders on
your computer, find the folder that contains your hair textures and choose the one you like.
I will be choosing the texture “Black V1”. Make sure your textures are 256 x 256 in width
and height. Double click the texture and it will be added to the product. Click “Apply
Changes” to see the new texture on the product.
7. Step 6: If you are satisfied with the texture it is now time to save the product. Click on the drop
down menu and chose “Save As” .
8. Once you click save as the IMVU product folder will open on your computer where all IMVU
products that you derive will be saved . Save the product with your personal tag/logo (ex: I use
~TA~) and the product name / color.
So my product is saved as ~TA~ Tiffani Black. Click save to add this to your product list.
9. Final Step: The final step is to upload the product to the catalog after you have saved it. You can
choose to upload the product at another time if you do not have the credits to do so. Once you click
on upload a new box will open to fill out product information, price, tags, general audience/access
pass, product picture, bundability, and derivability. Make sure “Product is Derivable & Bundable
“is unchecked. Choose the appropriate rating for the product (i.e.: General Audience or Access Pass).
Hair is generally “General Audience” unless something inappropriate is on the hair. Product pictures
need to be 100 x 80 in Width and Height, No Bigger. Once you have filled out all appropriate
information click submit. Once the product is submitted to the catalog your browser will open to
your catalog page, here you will see a large red box above the product that says “This product is
Unpublished”, click the blue link that says “Publish this product”. Your product will now go
through peer review. Once the product is deemed worthy for submission you will receive a message in
your inbox saying that the product is now available for sale in the catalog and has passed peer
review.
