The subject of three stripes is still apparent in the look, both in the forget that shoot from the logo,

speaks to a percentage of the finest gear that Adidas offers. This logo more than the others should

Company History : Adidas ' 3 Stripes ' Essay
Company History
Adidas was created in 1924 in Herzogenaurach a small town just outside Nurnberg in Germany. The
company's headquarters are still located in Herzogenaurach in Germany with subsidiaries in 60
countries. Adolf "Adi" Dassler was the founder of Adidas and he started to produce his own sports
shoes in his mother's wash kitchen. Adolf's brother named Rudolf Dassler joined the business right
after World War I. The company started in 1924 called Gebruder Dassler OHG, and began to
manufacturing shoes for athletes (www.adidas–group.com). On August 18, 1949 the company
registered the name of Adidas AG from "Adi" (a nickname for Adolf) and "Das" (from "Dassler")
starting again after the brothers split up in 1947. After the brothers split up, Rudolf Dassler created
the firm Puma and they became big business rivals in their own home town.
The registration of the soon–to–become famous Adidas "3 stripes" was done on the same day as the
trademark for Adidas and so they have been ever since. Adi Dassler was known for his big interest
in sports and valued quality and function, he is known for gaining insight from important athletes on
their needs and wants and close collaborations. His mission was to provide athletes with the best
possible equipment. Led by this strategy, Adidas earned at a very early stage a reputation for being
innovative and creative. In 1954, the German national soccer team won the World Cup Final with
their new technology screw–in–studs. This championship

Nike 's Marketing Practises With Puma
This essay begins by discussing the competition between Nike and one of its rivals. This essay will
focus on Puma as they are Nike's rival. Moreover, it will analyse and discuss Nike's marketing
practises with Puma; these two companies will be compared and will be supported by examples and
references that will be shown throughout the essay.
To begin with, Nike is the world's largest sports brand while Puma is currently the third largest
sports company after Adidas in the sports industry. (Heydt, 2013). Nike's brand value is
continuously increasing each year. (Interbrand, 2013). According to Interbrand (2013), Nike carries

(Chris, 2014). Puma and Nike have organised their marketing programs in a very good and
successful way, through all parts of integrated marketing communications, these two brands have
also strengthened their brand image through contracts with athletes and sponsorships as well as
partnerships with groups and players of international repute in football, golf and other well–known
sports and sponsoring mega global occasions. (Nazir et al., 2013).
Understanding customers is the way to provide for them great service; it is important for every
company to understand its customers, including Puma and Nike, to be able to give their customers
good service. To give good customer care, businesses must deliver what they have promised.
However, great customer care includes getting to know the customers well that organisations can
anticipate their customers' needs and surpass their desires and expectations. (Donut, 2014).
Mahadevan (2014) stated that, "The better the business can manage the relationships it has with its
customers, the more successful it will become" this shows that organisations today need to
understand its customers in order to succeed.
Nike and Puma are both focusing on their customers and are strongly committed to marketing.
(Wood, 2013). These sports organisations share a thorough dedication to understanding and
fulfilling the needs of their customers in clearly defined target

Sibling Rivalry
Comp 101
3 October 2013 Sibling Rivalries As people grow up, competition starts to become apparent. With
competition comes many other problems, some of which include rivalries. Rivalries are defined as a
state of competition or antagonism. Sometimes groups of people, or even family members, will
become overly competitive and create these rivalries. Some of the worst types are those within
siblings. Sibling rivalry is often a major problem in households, especially between children close in
age. There are several causes to sibling rivalries. Most of them come down to just plain
competitiveness, but more specifically, factors like sports, school, and even popularity. Sports can
cause a big fight. Usually, both siblings want ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Even friends can cause siblings to fight with one another. Friends sometimes think it is humorous
when siblings argue and fight, just like my biology teacher, and they will make bets or try to make
up little competitions just to see the family members compete against each other. Sibling rivalries
can have a lasting effect on the people involved. They can cause horrible relationships based on
trying to be the better child. Siblings can become angry and start to fight with each other: either
physically or through the use of words. Both ways, though, are still very hurtful and have a lasting
effect on the other sibling. Sometimes, this makes the two hate each other because everything that
they do is a constant competition which isn't always fun: for example, the Dassler brothers. The
Dassler brothers, Adi and Rudi, had an interesting life. They were two boys, living in a small town
of Herzogenaurach, Germany, making shoes out of their mother's laundry room. Adi was the quiet,
craftsmen, while Rudi was the out–going, salesman. The two got Jesse Owens, a legendary track star
to wear their shoes. After he won four gold medals in the 1936 Olympics, the Dassler boys' shoe
sales increased drastically. This made tension between the two grow thick and the fact that they're
wives already did not like each other, made it even worse. One day, during World War II when the
Allies were bombing Herzogenaurach, Adi and his wife climbed into a bomb shelter

that phrase is a backronym; the name is actually a portmanteau formed from "Adi" (a nickname for

Early years and rivalry with Puma
Puma and Adidas entered a fierce and bitter rivalry after the split. The town of Herzogenaurach was

which shoes strangers wore. Even the town 's two football clubs were divided: ASV Herzogenaurach

were called to Rudolf 's home, they would deliberately wear Adidas shoes. Rudolf would tell them
to go to the basement and pick out a pair of free Pumas. The two brothers never reconciled, and
although both are buried in the same cemetery, they are spaced apart as far as possible.[citation

Nike's Offensive Competitive Advantage There are numerous definitions of competitive strategy;
whether, it was defined by a scholar, a textbook, or a dictionary source, it is not the same. A source
may refer to this subject as a competitive strategy or a competitive advantage. Therefore, this subject
is difficult to understand and then apply to a company. The Five Generic Competitive Strategies that
Michael E. Porter developed are not really five strategies, more like five with subsets under them.

Essay On Nike Vs Adidas
Comparing Nike vs Adidas is like trying to compare, LeBron and Jordan, or Messi and Ronaldo.
Both are game changers in athletic wear. The controversy can never be solved because everyone has
their own opinion to which brand they like better. For some, they idolize Nike because of the
athletes that they sponsor. Others, like to rock the urban style of Adidas. Nike and Adidas have been
going head to head for as long as anyone can remember. Nike was founded and established in 1964,
while Adidas was founded and established earlier in 1948. There are lot of differences between these
two companies, but the ultimate deciding factor to which brand customers prefer comes down to
their own opinion. Nike was founded on January 25, 1964, as Blue Ribbon Sports by Bill
Bowerman and Phil Knight (Citation) and was officially named Nike Inc. on May 30, 1971. The
company initially operated as a distributer for Japanese shoe maker Onitsuka Tiger (Citation). Nike
first started making shoes by the help of Bowerman. He made track shoes for Phil Knight, a track
and field athlete, at the time, attending the University of Oregon. In Blue Ribbon Sports first year of
business, they sold 1,300 pairs of running shoes. In 1966, Blue Ribbon Sports opened their first
retail store located in Santa Monica, California next to a beauty salon (Citation). Then the infamous
Nike swoosh was created in 1971 by Carolyn Davidson (Citation). The company has been
flourishing ever since opening and is showing nothing, but upside for its consumers. Adidas was

It is a pragmatic exercise to ensure that changes in the external environment do not take the firm by
surprise. The external environment consists of a set of forces that originate beyond a firm's operating
situation. To illustrate an example, when the German national football team faced the unbeatable
Hungarians in 1954 World Cup final, they won far beyond only a trophy because they used Adidas'
football shoes, gaining tonnes of reputations and being recognised by the general public. These
comprise of political, economic, social, technological, and legal forces which create opportunities,
threats, and constraints for the firm. Adidas is competing with other sports apparel stores including
the world leaders Nike, Puma, and Fila. The rivalry among existing competitors is pretty high due to
abundant number of sports and compared to other similar industries. Adidas has adopted several
strategic measures for their market growth such as an acquisition of an existing competitor, building

Michael De La Rosa Lynn University History and Subsidiaries Adidas AG, headquarters in
Herzogenaurach, Bavaria, was registered on August 18th, 1949 by Adolf(Adi) Dassler. As of today,
adidas stands and the world's second largest sportswear manufacturer in the entire world, following

After returning from WW1, Adolf Dassler began producing shows out of his mother's wash kitchen,
following in his father's footsteps. In 1924, after some success, his brother Rudolf (Rudi) joined his
business, which then became Gebrüder Dassler Schuhfabrik (Dassler Brothers Shoe Factory).
Together the business prospered and by 1936, Adi had driven to the Olympic village and persuaded
Olympic sprinter, Jesse Owens, to use them. This proved to be a pivotal moment for Adi's business
as it was the first sponsorship for an African American, and Owens would go on to win 4 gold
medals, thus cementing the business with a good reputation. After the Olympics, business flourished
and sales hit an all–time high. Everything seemed to be going well for the Dassler Brothers until
WWII. High tensions during the war caused a great rift between the brothers and by 1947 Rudi left

Furthermore, due to yearly sporting events such as UEFA Champions league, Super Bowl and the
enormous interest in sport generally, the demand for sport products are high. The sports apparel
industry is perceived to be a difficult industry to enter. The high degree of competiveness and the
need of innovating thinking are undeniable. In addition, several incumbents have reached large–
scale production and as a result it will be expensive for new entrants to fight for market share. Many
of the producers use famous athletes to front their products. The market powers of such athletes are
priceless and help boost their sales. With regard to the financial crisis, looking at profitability ratios

sense that their sales decreased compared to previous years. However, due to the FIFA world cup in

Compare And Contrast Nike And Adidas
In this review, I decided to compare two athletic clothing brands to each other. The idea popped into
my mind one afternoon while deciding what articles of clothing to wear for my workout. As a
member of the soccer team at Nicholls State University, all the clothing provided to us is Adidas
because Adidas sponsors Nicholls Soccer. As anyone would expect, my opinion is biased because I
wear Adidas clothing most of the time. Nike and Adidas have become two very dominant brands of
athletic clothing throughout the world. Nike was founded by Bill Bowerman and Phil Knight on
January 25, 1964. Nike's manufacturing originated in the back of Phil Knight's car but eventually
grew to be manufactured all over the world. Bill Bowerman requested a more durable but lighter
shoes for racing for his runners at University of Oregon ("Nike History"). Adidas was founded on
August 18, 1949, and it was originated in Herzogenaurach, Germany. At the age 49, Adolf Dassler
started production in a small town, and with 47 workers began manufacturing a shoe that would
soon be famous (Golden). The company is fifteen years older than Nike, therefore it has more
experience with making products. Adidas still mainly focuses on shoes but is also known for its
clothing: whereas, Nike focuses on more their clothing than their shoes. Though each manufacturing
company has a main focus of their own, they do not fall short of expectations on their other
products. The brand symbols differ from each other and are

Adidas : Marketing Strategy With Hip Hop Rapper Kanye West
Adidas, the brand with the three stripes, has to be a brand that is well sought after by consumers.
The company has been established since 1949 in Herzogenaurach, Germany (Adidas–Group),
however, the brand has soared in the past couple of months. This is because Adidas has recently
paired up to collaborate with well known western musicians, like Kanye West and Pharell Williams.
That is not to say that Adidas has never collaborated in the past, in fact the brand is known to be one
of the biggest companies to collaborate with artists (Adidas–Group). These artists includes Rick
Owens, Yohji Yamamoto, Raf Simons, etc. However, Adidas has climbed up to the top as a result of
their collaboration and marketing strategy with hip–hop rapper Kanye West. It is the brand's
encoding of the music/rap culture and idolizing West, which is the very reason their profit has
skyrocketed. Adidas has encoded their products to shape its consumers to become, or to feel as if
they are Kanye West himself with their newest sneaker called the "Yeezys." The Yeezys are West's
personal design used with Adidas' "boost" technology, and not only are the sneakers eye–boggling
for its consumers, but it's also marketed as comfortable and for everyday–wear. On top of that,
Adidas and West have decided that the sneakers should be limited, which they then announce a

In the report, suppliers of leading brands like Puma, Nike, Adidas and Reebok have forced their
employees to work overtime and denied them the rights to form trade unions. In addition, some of
the workers work without being paid while others are underpaid after working for long hours (Clean
Clothes Campaign, 2004).
Similar findings were also reported by the Play Fair (2008) report. The report findings showed that
workers manufacturing sportswear items in form of apparel, footwear and soccer balls faced similar
problems. These include: abuse of employment contracts, violation to the freedom of association
and collective bargaining, and employment insecurity. Consequently, workers who attempt to form
trade unions are dismissed, denied the chance to negotiate and the facilities with unionized workers
get closed. In addition, the rise in factory closures has led to job insecurity among workers and this
reduces the likelihood of workers to seek better employment conditions. The Play Fair report also
argued that buyers tend to disregard facilities that are compliant with labor practices and such
facilities end up being shut down (2008). The report also highlighted the rise in short–term
employment contracts and precarious employment that undermine labor regulations and the rights of
workers to social security and freedom of association (Play Fair, 2008).

Internal Assessment Of Puma
Ibrahim Yarow
Internal Assessment Question: How can a popular brand, such as PUMA, increase sales?
Introduction
PUMA is a German Sportswear company that produces and sells sporting and casual apparel to
athletes and the average person all over the globe. PUMA is technically a later version of the
German sports footwear store, "Dassler Brothers Shoe Factory", founded by the brothers Rudolf and
Adolf Dassler in the early 1920's. Dassler Brothers shoe factory very popular in the 1920's. They
had a great amount of exposure. Famous Athletes wore their products and they were worn in events
that were really a big deal. For example, at the Olympic Summer Games in Amsterdam in 1928, a
lot of the German athletes wore Dassler spikes. In 1936, Jesse Owens won four gold medals at the
Olympic Games in Berlin wearing spikes made by Dassler. Approximately seven gold medals and
five bronze medals were won by world class athletes wearing Dassler shoes and two World and five
Olympic records were broken. The actual company was called "Ruda" but then changed to "PUMA"
was officially founded and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
One opportunity that opened up in recent times is advanced technology. Through technology, PUMA
is able to get their products out there through websites, and social media acoounts. Social media is
the best way to get the younger generation. This helps build their market, audience, and gain
sponsors for their brand. It also helps build on strengths like branding and strengthening their
management side. Once PUMA gets ahead and uses things like technology, things will increase. Just
the internet alone is a powerful source. Technology can also improve the quality of their products.
no matter if it is designingactually putting it together, technology helps get it done. The more
appealing the product, the easier it is to get the product out there, and the easier it is to sell

Thesis Statement For Nike
"Just Do It.". Do you feel like products don't live up to their advertisement? did you know that on
average pharmaceutical companies spend twice as much on advertising as they do on product
research? This lead me to most products do not measure up to the claim of their advertisement, such
as, Nike and Adidas.
Nike, inc. is the largest and most successful brand of shoes, sports equipment, clothing, and
controlling more than 60% of the market and becoming a pop culture icon. More so, founded by Bill
Bowerman and Phil Knight. Did you know the company now has outlets in almost every part of the
world? Now in days, nike products are known for its quality, style, trend and perfection. Perfection
is the action or process of improving something until it is faultless or as faultless as possible.
Although Nike has worked hard to be the largest most successful company, shoe wises, they still
have slips and miscommunications. According to the China Central Television broadcast, the annual
program said Nike had falsely advertised basketball shoes. The sporting–goods giant, claimed the
sneakers had Zoom Air sole cushions inside when ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Nike basketball shoes, designed by a famous NBA player named Kevin Durant, were purchased
by me a few weeks after release date. According to the shoes description, KD 7 are suppose to have
an 4.5 star rating, which means thats these particular basketball shoes are very durable and very
difficult to ruin the shoe all together. Four day after purchased, me and friends went to a recreation
center to play basketball. Two games in, I went up for a rebound, then suddenly I heard a massive
popping noise. My Air–Max inside my shoe popped. Not being the only incident, I've bought 5 more
KDs (KD 8,9, and 10). In the story above, the same thing happened again, and in buying new year
shoes, fabrics and materials are more advanced and fundamentally sounded. But not in this

Siblings can become angry and start to fight with each other: either physically or through the use of words. Both ways, though, are still very hurtful and have a lasting effect on the other sibling. Sometimes, this makes the two hate each other because everything that they do is a constant competition which isn't always fun: for example, the Dassler brothers. The Dassler brothers, Adi and Rudi, had an interesting life. They were two boys, living in a small town of Herzogenaurach, Germany, making shoes out of their mother's laundry room. • 60. Compare And Contrast Nike And Adidas In this review, I decided to compare two athletic clothing brands to each other. The idea popped into my mind one afternoon while deciding what articles of clothing to wear for my workout. As a member of the soccer team at Nicholls State University, all the clothing provided to us is Adidas because Adidas sponsors Nicholls Soccer. As anyone would expect, my opinion is biased because I wear Adidas clothing most of the time. Nike and Adidas have become two very dominant brands of athletic clothing throughout the world. Nike was founded by Bill Bowerman and Phil Knight on January 25, 1964. Nike's manufacturing originated in the back of Phil Knight's car but eventually grew to be manufactured all over the world. Bill Bowerman requested a more durable but lighter shoes for racing for his runners at University of Oregon ("Nike History"). Adidas was founded on August 18, 1949, and it was originated in Herzogenaurach, Germany. At the age 49, Adolf Dassler started production in a small town, and with 47 workers began manufacturing a shoe that would soon be famous (Golden). The company is fifteen years older than Nike, therefore it has more experience with making products. Adidas still mainly focuses on shoes but is also known for its clothing: whereas, Nike focuses on more their clothing than their shoes. Though each manufacturing company has a main focus of their own, they do not fall short of expectations on their other products. The brand symbols differ from each other and are ... These include: abuse of employment contracts, violation to the freedom of association and collective bargaining, and employment insecurity. Consequently, workers who attempt to form trade unions are dismissed, denied the chance to negotiate and the facilities with unionized workers get closed. In addition, the rise in factory closures has led to job insecurity among workers and this reduces the likelihood of workers to seek better employment conditions.
