1. Unit 30 Task 4
Identifying Potential Problems
We have ensured through primary research that the idea is unique and
no lynx advert is similar to this. As of now we’re determining whether
the advert will need music as the plot is thick enough to sustain the
audience enough to become engaged with the narrator comically
explaining what’s going on.
We’re sure we will not be doing any false advertisement and we will
check this by doing research into what we are going to say and ensure
it’s true. Many are in the style of comedy, but none relate to our
advertisement, so we know we will be given the all clear on this aspect.
The music within the advert will be taken from a non-copyrighted music
site; this means that we will not get into issues for the music either.
3GA's advertisements for a digital jukebox called Brennan JB7, which
imports content from CDs and tapes, were found to be in violation of
ASA guidelines for glorifying illegal acts, because it implied that it was
acceptable to copy music to a computer or device which is strictly
prohibited. There were many assumptions and declarations made that
stated they repeatedly made reference to the benefits of the product
being able to copy music, but did not make clear that it was illegal to do
so without the permission of the copyright owner.
Guidelines from CAP - 04 Harm and Offence
4.1 Marketing communications must not contain anything that is likely
to cause serious or widespread offence. Particular care must be taken to
avoid causing offence on the grounds of race, religion, gender, sexual
orientation, disability or age. Compliance will be judged on the context,
medium, audience, product and prevailing standards.
This is the closest our advert will come to breaking any rules set by CAP.
This is due to our characters showing a lot of skin but hiding their private
parts. In the advert the men and women will show affection to each
other but not physically.
