What Learning Designers Do:
• Understand the learners and their needs
• Work with content experts to design and
create engaging content
• Use the science behind how people learn
to create pedagogically sound learning
opportunities
• Incorporate educational technology to
reach and engage the learner

Multimedia Design supports the Clearinghouse in the advisement, creation, and
production of visually compelling and audience-appropriate print and digital materials.
What Multimedia Designers Do:
• Help with design development; offer
suggestions about print and digital file
formats; assist with color, contrast, and PDF
accessibility
• Create designs that capture attention and
promote projects
• Produce designs that are consistent to
improve brand awareness
• Understand of design trends, techniques,
and innovations to improve the design
process and effectiveness
• Develop templates to ensure brand
consistency and ease of use

Web design is the process of planning, conceptualizing, arrange, and executing content
for a specific audience in an online format.
What Web Designers Do:
• Determine target audiences and intended
goals for a website
• Collaboratively plan and design a
website’s theme/look, structure, and user
flow to support the project goals
• Review web statistics to evaluate trends
and make website improvements
• Maximize website performance and traffic
• Assist Clearinghouse web projects in their
efforts to create a polished finished
product through our UX/UI and
accessibility expertise

The Programming Team works with the project teams and stakeholders to develop
solutions through the implementation of existing technologies or through custom
development of web applications.
What Programmers Do:
• Implement and/or create technology
solutions to address the current and
future needs of projects
• Maintain and support delivered solutions
throughout the lifespan of the project
lifecycle
• Investigate new and upcoming
technologies that could impact or
advance the work of the Clearinghouse
• Consult and assist in the selection of
technologies implemented or proposed
by partners

Editing is the preparation of written material for publication or usage by other entities by
correcting, condensing, or modifying (e.g., adding, deleting, rearranging) the text to
produce a clear, concise, and organized document.
What Editors Do:
• Review (i.e., make and execute
suggestions to create a better product)
and revise material
• Produce consistency in written
documents across the Clearinghouse
• Review documents and provide feedback,
noting strengths and areas of concern
• Coordinate with other professionals to
meet congruent and multiple deadlines
