Recent Performance
As of 30 October 2016, Bangladesh has played 95 Tests, winning only eight. Its
first victory was against team Zimbabwe, and the next two came against the
West Indian team. Results have improved recently with draws earned against
full strength Sri Lankan and New Zealand sides and a win against Zimbabwe
and most recently against England.
The team has been more successful in ODIs, having won 101 of its 318 matches.
It has also played 62 Twenty20 Internationals, winning 20
Bangladesh is currently ranked ninth in Tests, seventh in ODIs and tenth in
T20Is by the ICC.
• The successes of 2015 look even better when you remember how down in the
dumps they were for most of 2014. Captain Mashrafe Mortaza and coach
Chandika Hathurusingha have combined well with their honest approaches to
bring a passionate, team-first attitude back into the dressing room. In his third
stint as captain, Mortaza has injected his own enthusiasm into even the most
dour characters.
• He also had the confidence of his fellow senior players, like Shakib Al
Hasan, Tamim Iqbal, Mushfiqur Rahim and Mahmudullah, while
Mustafizur, Soumya Sarkar and Sabbir Rahman have brought their own brand of
exciting cricket to the mix. They played as a family, helping Rubel Hossain in
difficult times, and ensuring someone like Nasir Hossain felt a part of the team
despite losing his old batting spot.
• The genesis of this new Bangladesh was the 5-0 win over Zimbabwe in late 2014,
after which Hathurusingha and Mortaza took the team through hard training
camps in Dhaka and Brisbane in January this year. But preparations for the
World Cup campaign went so badly that after the fourth consecutive defeat in
the practice matches, Mortaza publicly criticized them.
Team Achievement
• Bangladesh qualified for the 1999 cricket World Cap for the first time.
• In 1997,Bangladesh became a regular ICC member with the right to play ODIs.
• In 2015,Bangladesh reached the quarter-finals of the ICC World Cup for the first
time.
• After arriving back, Bangladesh played an ODI series where they won 3-0 against
Pakistan and whitewash Pakistan . The ODI series win gave Bangladeshi their first
series victory over Pakistanis.
• Bangladesh convincingly won the first two ODIs and for the first time, won a
bilateral series against India by a margin of 2-1.
• Bangladesh confirm another ODI series win by a margin of 2-1, the first ever series
win against South Africa, and 4th consecutive ODI series win on their home soil.
• In November 2015,The Zimbabwean cricket team toured in Bangladesh .
Bangladesh won the ODI series 3–0 and the T20I series was drawn 1-1
Player Achievement
• Mohammad Ashraful holds the record for the youngest cricketer to make a Test
century. He was 17 years and 61 days old when he made 114 against Sri
Lanka at Colombo on 8 September 2001, during his Test debut.
• Mashrafe Mortaza was the leading wicket-taker in ODIs in 2006, with 49 wickets
in 27 matches.
• On 21 November 2012, Abul Hasan became only the second Test cricketer in
history to make a century at number 10 on debut, against the West
Indies at Khulna
• On 13 October 2013, against New Zealand at Chittagong, Sohag Gazi became the
first-ever cricketer to score a century and take a hat-trick in the same Test match.
• Shakib Al Hasan became the first player in history to hold the number 1 positions
in all three formats of cricket, in the all rounder category on 12 January 2015.
• Mustafizur Rahman became the first-ever cricketer to take 11 wickets in his first
two ODIs when he took 5/50 against India on 18 June 2015 and then 6/43 against
the same team three days later. Both matches were played at Dhaka
Most Glorious Victories
Won ICC Trophy
Bangladesh won the 1997 ICC Trophy in
Malaysia. By winning the tournament,
where they defeated Pakistan, creating one
of the biggest upsets in their cricketing
history and also defeated Scotland.
Beating Australia in an ODI courtesy
Mohammad Ashraful’s magical ton
On winning the toss, Australia chose to bat
and score 249 for five. With Glenn
McGrath, Jason Gillespie and Brad Hogg
forming the attack, one would have
expected the Australians to win. However,
Ashraful was at it again, smashing a 100
off 101 balls at No. 4. Bangladesh chase it
down in the last over, leaving Australia
shell-shocked. Beating the undisputed
world champions was a big shot in the arm
for Bangladesh.
Asia Cup 2012 heroics
ICC World Cup 2007 Bangladesh lost
the first game against Pakistan after
putting up a brave fight. In the
second game, they played against
India in this match Sachin Tendulkar
achieve his historic 100th ton in
international cricket. But his ton
didn’t work for his team Bangladesh
won the match by 5 wicket. Tamim 70,
Nasir 54, Jahurul 53, Shakib 49,
Mushfiqur 46* delivered an
improbable win for Bangladesh.
Beating England and qualifying for the
ICC World Cup 2015 quarter-final
In this match is very important for
Bangladesh to qualify for the quarter
final. England needed 276 runs to win
from their 50 overs, the target which
Bangladesh had set earlier, courtesy of a
magnificent century from Mahmudullah
and a quick fire 89 from wicket keeper
Mushfiqur Rahim. This was a good total
set by Bangladesh after England had
won the toss and elected to bowl first.
England fail to reach the target and
Bangladesh won the match by 15 runs
and created history.
Supports
So far The Best Achievement of Bangladesh cricket team is the enormous
supports from the fan. They are supporting the team with exorbitant assistant
and boost of energy. This country is one of the best supporting side on World
cricket……………..
Future Steps
Recently in a press conference BCB president Nazmul Hasan
Papon said his target is BD team will ascend in number 5 ranking
in One day international within next World cup. Next steps will
be taken towards that.
In Bangladesh cricket the authority is very strict about team’s
code of conduct. Some people says this is one of the main reasons
of teams recent success. This step will continue further.
The Bangladesh national women's cricket team is the team that represents the
country of Bangladesh in international women's cricket matches. They made
their international debut when they played, and won, two matches
against Thailand in July 2007 before participating in and winning the 2007 ACC
Women's Tournament.

  • 18. • The successes of 2015 look even better when you remember how down in the dumps they were for most of 2014. Captain Mashrafe Mortaza and coach Chandika Hathurusingha have combined well with their honest approaches to bring a passionate, team-first attitude back into the dressing room. In his third stint as captain, Mortaza has injected his own enthusiasm into even the most dour characters. • He also had the confidence of his fellow senior players, like Shakib Al Hasan, Tamim Iqbal, Mushfiqur Rahim and Mahmudullah, while Mustafizur, Soumya Sarkar and Sabbir Rahman have brought their own brand of exciting cricket to the mix. They played as a family, helping Rubel Hossain in difficult times, and ensuring someone like Nasir Hossain felt a part of the team despite losing his old batting spot. • The genesis of this new Bangladesh was the 5-0 win over Zimbabwe in late 2014, after which Hathurusingha and Mortaza took the team through hard training camps in Dhaka and Brisbane in January this year. But preparations for the World Cup campaign went so badly that after the fourth consecutive defeat in the practice matches, Mortaza publicly criticized them.
