2. INTRODUCTION
The practice of applying physical and scientific
concepts to societal problems is known as civil
engineering, and the development of this field is
closely related to historical developments in our
understanding of physics and mathematics. Its
history is connected to understanding of
structures, materials science, geography, geology,
soils, hydrology, environmental science,
mechanics, project management, and other topics
because civil engineering is a broad profession
that includes a number of specialized sub-
disciplines.
The application of design theory from a variety of
disciplines, such as nuclear physics,
thermodynamics, or hydraulics, may be necessary
for the design of engineering works. More logical
designs, novel design ideas, and more material
economy are now possible thanks to research in
structural analysis and material technology.
Together with increasingly accurate stress
analyses of structures and systematic testing, the
theory of structures and the research of materials
have improved. In addition to having cutting-edge
theories and easy access to design information,
structural designs may now be rigorously analysed
by computers.
Research in the civil engineering field is
undertaken by government agencies, industrial
foundations, the universities, and other
institutions.
OBJECTIVE OF PROGRAMME
The primary objective of this course is to upgrade
the knowledge of the participants with regard to
