John Lennon was an English singer and songwriter who co-founded the Beatles in 1960 and helped make them the most successful songwriting partnership in history. After the Beatles disbanded in 1970, Lennon continued as a solo artist and peace activist with his second wife Yoko Ono. Some of his most notable films include A Hard Day's Night, Help!, and Magical Mystery Tour. Lennon was known for his rebellious and witty music, writing, and interviews until his death in 1980 at age 40.
