1. Below are the final outcome of my four art piece that I will be presenting in the exhibition. My main aim for my four art
piece was to create a story where I would start of with a world wide issue and end it with a message which concerns every
individual human beings.
The first design is a large clock outlined by words to
fit in with typography. The words I used are names of
objects/foods to show how long it takes for each of
them to decompose. I found the shape of the clock
effective as it is another way to present a timeline.
Also the use of colors creates a strong impact so
people would be able to distinguishthe difference
between the objects that decay the quickest to the
ones that take over centuries.
The second design goes onto giving informationof the amount of waste each countries produce annually.I showed this by creating a map again
made out of words. I also created a key for the countries by the color and size to make people see visually how much waste each country produce.
So the scale of the map are a different proportion to the original one as the larger the waste produced, the larger the country would be on the
map.
My third design was more small scales it was based in
the UK. This is a graph of how much paper cups are
produced in fast food places. Instead of makingit
look like a complicatedgraph, I created a pictogram
with the image of the paper cup filled up in words.
This would be effective as people would be able to
see how much paper cups are produced and
compare it with other fast food companies.
My final and fourth design finished with a little fact as well as a message. I decided to show how much paper trees were wasted in creating paper
cups and the amount that thy get recycled in the UK. I felt like this was good for a final piece as paper cups are very commonproducts in the UK
that get disposed easily therefore this might encourage them to recycle more.
2. The questions I asked for my final piece
were mainly their opinion on
typography, whether they liked/disliked
it and if they understood the overall
message I was trying to communicate
using typography. This was vital as my
art form I was learning as a new skill was
Graphic Communication and
Typography. Therefore, I wanted to
know, in the end, if I was able to clearly
communicate sustainability (theme of
my work) using this technique.
My second questionnaire is based on my Art Issue. I
firststarted of with one of the art piece created by
Tim Noble and Sue Webster which relates to my
statement 'Used Object is Art'. I did this to see
whether the people in the exhibition agreed to my Art
Issue by reading their answer/opinion to whether the
image was seen as art. Overall I wanted to find out
what people's opinions were in using old objects
again.
I firststarted by looking at background
information of Illustration using the
website Create Choices. This website
was effective as it helped me
understand what illustration was about,
the qualifications I needed to achieve
and the future possibilities I can have
with this. From this website, I learnt that
design was now important as well as
illustration and visual communication
was also required.
After that, I looked into universities with do
Illustration and Graphic Communication. The first
one I explored was University for the Creative Arts
(UCA) which did a degree on Graphic
communication. I found this University quite good
as the students were able to have the opportunity
to collaborate with a wide range of companies and
people such as the Design Museum. Also, I feel
like I would be able to meet the entry
requirements because even though I
did not choose art a level, I am currently doing
Gold Arts Award which would be enough for
