This document provides an orientation for freshers at the JSS College of Arts, Commerce & Science library. Teaching the effective use of information resources

faculty.

To provide faculty and students with materials that enrich and support the
curriculum and meet the needs of the students and faculty served
To support the institution's curricular needs
Recognize the library’s role in providing for the specialized research needs of
student and faculty conducting independent and advanced research
Assist librarians and faculty who are making decisions about resources
including the library’s print collection, digital resources, and databases
Provide a balanced collection with diverse and differing points of view or
intellectual thought
Service users are: UG / PG students, Research Scholars, Alumni and backlog
students, students preparing for competitive examinations and visiting
students & staff of peer institutions

An ID Card and a borrower card will be issued to students for library use
Every student is entitled to borrow 2 books at a time on depositing the borrower card at the
books issue kiosk
Student can hold a book for a period of 2 weeks from the date of issue
On return of the book, borrower card will be returned back to student
Renewal of borrowing will be done for a maximum of additional 2 weeks, for book(s) in
demand
Books borrowed can be returned only after 5 days of issue
To avail digital services, student should compulsorily enroll in the library by providing their
personal E-mail IDs.

Penalty Fees Applicable
Penalty will be levied for,
… Loss of book(s), as per UGC norms
… Books returned after due date, as per college norms
Student can replace the lost book with the latest edition of the same book
On case-to-case basis, penalty fee(s) will be considered / waived on scrutinization
