QUESTION & DISCUSSION FOR ATTENDANDS
• How does your library manage and provide
KR to be used into the learning?
• what kind of KR are offered in teaching and
learning?
• Do you (teachers, technicians, instructional designers,
librarians, etc.) have institutional support?
Editor's Notes
- Not just the classroom but outside. From online spaces as campus, libraries, etc. Resources available from diferent devices: Mobile, etc.
A sector scoping of libraries was conducted by Seron HE.
This is a report about 20 university libraries, in terms of students and teachers Support services. Methodology: phone and face-to-face meetings, interviews , qüestionaries, desk research
This annex deals only with the non-UK institutions. EADTU also collaborated sharing information and adding Athabasca Uni
TAL: public, university, college, technical institute and special libraries, has selected a group catalogue solution from OCLC as its provincial discovery tool.
Eresources purchased thought Consortia (but no more “big deal” packages of databases)
Apecial collection on distance learning: The reverend Edward Checkland Collection. About innovative educational Technology, instructional design, adult learners in post-secundary System, etc
Some figures that define us:
We mentioned the fact that we have MORE than 68,000 graduates (exactly: 68,479 qualifications issued comprising 30 ECTS credits or more).
But we currently (2014-15 academic year data) have almost 50,000 students (exactly: 49,672) ,
3,700 teachers (exactly: 3,709),
and around 500 tutors (exactly: 463).
(We teach more than 4,200 subjects included in more than 150 educational programmes and have signed more than 150 collaboration agreements with other universities.)
[2014-2015 Academic Year Report data]
The library doesn’t have a building accessible to its users
REBIUN is the Spanish Network of University Libraries
Our Gross Domestic Product, as an example to compare with some other countries is 27 THOUSAND.
You see the Gross Domestic Product of USA, France or UK, for example.
To have an idea, it very similar to countries or regions like Hong Kong, Korea (South), Israel or Slovenia.
AND, something terrible:
The unemployment rate is over the 22%!!!
Virtual Library participates in 2 out of 3 pillars of the Educational model
KR: a range of different contents that UOC students have at their disposal and that there are available in the virtual classrooms (for all degrees, master's degrees and postgraduate studies of the university) and the VL is the responsible of their supply and management.
We can distinguish two main types of resources:
the own resources, learning materials created by the UOC: an equivalent to the typical reference manual. They are written by experts from each knowledge area, who will transfer all of the rights to exploit the work at the UOC by signing a contract custom and transferring the exploitation rights.
and the external resources.
