2. WORKING PRINCIPLE OF
CONCENTRATING COLLECTORS
• It will work on Direct Radiation
• It uses optical system can be used to heat the
fluids upto 500 °C.
• Mainly classified into two types
1)line focusing
2)point focusing
4. LINE FOCUSING COLLECTORS
• It is a Cylindrical Parabolic Concentrating
Collector.
• Consists of movable parabolic cylinder (Reflector)
that focuses the direct radiation on the Absorber
(receiver tube) located along the axis of collector.
• Solar radiation collected over a surface on a
surface of collector with particular Direction and
is concentrated at the FOCUS F PARABOLA.
5. • The mirror rotates longitudinal axis ,tracking
the sun throughout the day
• The solar energy focused on a reciever tube
heats the fluid about 400 °C.

• These are semiconducting elements as they
could produce electric energy when light
strikes their surface
