Vacancy – Education Coordinator – Ref 002
Funded by the National Lottery through the Big Lottery Fund, Sport 4 Life are delivering the Be Positive project, a 5 year initiative
designed to improve the lives of disadvantaged young males aged 13-18 living in the inner city ward of Ladywood. The project
will provide a combination of educational, development and recreational activities, and will support young males to achieve a
tangible outcome such as increasing their life skills, transforming their behaviour, gaining qualifications, and re-engaging with
education or employment. The project will be delivered by a team of 2 staff – an Education Coordinator and a Sports
Coordinator. We are currently looking to recruit a highly skilled candidate for the Education Coordinator vacancy, who will be
responsible for delivering and coordinating the educational programme of the project. The newly appointed Education
Coordinator will be employed on a full-time basis on a permanent contract (please note that the funding is confirmed for an

initial 5 year fixed–term period until June 30 2017), and will earn an initial salary of £19,000-£19,500 per annum depending on
experience. Sport 4 Life are looking for an exceptional candidate, who has a real passion and skill for working with and alongside
underprivileged young people through educational programmes. Ideal candidates will have relevant youth work qualifications,
and significant paid/voluntary experience of educational work with young people.

Monday: 11.30am-8.00pm (unpaid breaks: 12.30pm-1.00pm and 3.30pm-4.00pm)

Wednesday: 11.30am-8.00pm (unpaid breaks: 12.30pm-1.00pm and 3.30pm-4.00pm)
Thursday: 11.30am-8.00pm (unpaid breaks: 12.30pm-1.00pm and 3.30pm-4.00pm)
Saturday: 9.00am-4.30pm (paid break: 12.00pm-1.00pm)

2. Job Description:
Job Purpose 1. to deliver the activities of the Be Positive project
2. to support project beneficiaries to achieve tangible outcomes
Main Duties & Responsibilities 1. to lead on the delivery of all educational and development activities
2. to plan, organise and deliver educational workshops and learning challenges
3. to lead on the educational and mentoring work with volunteers
4. to assist the Sports Coordinator with sports coaching activities, where required
Examples May Include 1. to design and develop a programme of educational seminars
2. to design and develop a programme of learning challenges
3. to complete all related paperwork and assessing for Youth Achievement Awards
4. to support beneficiaries to complete formal and informal training courses
5. to lead on providing beneficiaries with “progression routes”
6. to manage the targeted referral process for the “Be Positive Academy”
7. to lead on the collection of M&E data and the writing of project reports
General Duties 1. to analyse and evaluate personal performance and project performance
2. to complete basic administrative duties
3. to build partnerships with relevant organisations and individuals
4. to risk assess all sites and activities
5. to assist the Line Manager with any other duties, as required
Scope of Authority 1. accountable to the Project Manager (Matthew Forsyth)
