ACCREDITATION
Liberty University, Liberty Baptist Theological Seminary and
Graduate School are accredited by the Southern Association
of Colleges and Schools (SACS) to award associate,
bachelor, master and doctoral degrees. Graduate and
professional schools throughout the country accept its
degrees and credits. The State Department of Education of
Virginia approves its teacher preparation program.
ACADEMIC CALENDAR
Liberty University follows a traditional semester system with
two regular semesters (Fall and Spring) of approximately
fifteen weeks, a Winter Intersession, and a Summer term.
COURSE NUMBERING
000 - 099* Developmental and Institute
100 - 299 Lower Level (Freshman & Sophomore)
300 - 499 Upper Level (Junior & Senior)
500 - 999 Graduate Level
*CLST 100, 101, 102, 103, 105, ENGL 100, GEED 100, MATH
100, 108, 110, and MUSC 100 are also Developmental.
UNIT OF CREDIT
A semester credit hour usually represents the equivalent of a
50-minute lecture period or 100 minutes of laboratory work
each week.
GRADING SYSTEM*
The grading system is based on a 4.00 scale:
A - 4.00 B- - 2.67 D+ - 1.33
A- - 3.67 C+ - 2.33 D - 1.00

Note: The +/- grades are for Graduate courses only and
were instituted beginning with the Fall 2011 semester.
ADDITIONAL GRADES NOT CALCULATED IN GPA
AU - Audit P - Pass
I - Work Incomplete Q - Academic Amnesty
M - Medical Incomplete R - Repeated Course
NP - Did Not Pass W - Withdrawn
GRADE POINT AVERAGE
The grade point average is listed at the end of each semester
for that semester; the cumulative GPA†
is at the end of the
transcript. The formula for calculating this is:
GPA = Quality Points divided by GPA Credit Hours
†
Cumulative GPA includes all grades in each level,
regardless of degree program.
REPEATED GRADES
Starting in the fall of 1979, students were permitted to apply
the repeat policy to a course by requesting that the previous
grade be changed to an “R” and the original grade be
removed from the GPA calculation. Beginning in the fall of
2012, for undergraduate courses, the repeat policy was
changed so that the student’s original grade remains on the
transcript, but will not be calculated into their GPA
calculation. This original grade is identified by listing an “E”
in the column next to the “Quality Points” column. The more
recent grade is included in the transcript and will be labeled
with an “I”. This can also be applied for repeated courses
prior to fall 2012 if the previous policy is not requested.
ENGLISH LANGUAGE INSTITUTE AND
WILLMINGTON SCHOOL OF THE BIBLE
Transcript pages which indicate Course Level: Institute do
not contain undergraduate-level coursework. The courses on
these specific transcript pages are institute-level only, even
though Willmington School of the Bible (formerly Liberty Bible
Institute) courses are numbered in the 100-200 range.
ACADEMIC STANDING
Good Academic Standing is implied unless otherwise noted.
Students who fail to attain a minimum GPA for their
Academic Level may be placed on Academic Warning,
Academic Probation, Academic Suspension, or Academic
Dismissal.

FromLibertyUniversitytomgmagresham91@gmail.comon01/04/201309:47AMTRAN000004086192 FromLibertyUniversitytomgmagresham91@gmail.comon01/04/201309:47AMTRAN000004086192 Registrar's Office LIBERTY UNIVERSITY | www.liberty.edu 1971 University Boulevard | Lynchburg, Virginia 24502-2269 ACCREDITATION Liberty University, Liberty Baptist Theological Seminary and Graduate School are accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS) to award associate, bachelor, master and doctoral degrees. Graduate and professional schools throughout the country accept its degrees and credits. The State Department of Education of Virginia approves its teacher preparation program. ACADEMIC CALENDAR Liberty University follows a traditional semester system with two regular semesters (Fall and Spring) of approximately fifteen weeks, a Winter Intersession, and a Summer term. COURSE NUMBERING 000 - 099* Developmental and Institute 100 - 299 Lower Level (Freshman & Sophomore) 300 - 499 Upper Level (Junior & Senior) 500 - 999 Graduate Level *CLST 100, 101, 102, 103, 105, ENGL 100, GEED 100, MATH 100, 108, 110, and MUSC 100 are also Developmental. UNIT OF CREDIT A semester credit hour usually represents the equivalent of a 50-minute lecture period or 100 minutes of laboratory work each week. GRADING SYSTEM* The grading system is based on a 4.00 scale: A - 4.00 B- - 2.67 D+ - 1.33 A- - 3.67 C+ - 2.33 D - 1.00 B+ - 3.33 C - 2.00 D- - 0.67 B - 3.00 C- - 1.67 F FN - - 0.00 0.00 Note: The +/- grades are for Graduate courses only and were instituted beginning with the Fall 2011 semester. ADDITIONAL GRADES NOT CALCULATED IN GPA AU - Audit P - Pass I - Work Incomplete Q - Academic Amnesty M - Medical Incomplete R - Repeated Course NP - Did Not Pass W - Withdrawn GRADE POINT AVERAGE The grade point average is listed at the end of each semester for that semester; the cumulative GPA† is at the end of the transcript. The formula for calculating this is: GPA = Quality Points divided by GPA Credit Hours † Cumulative GPA includes all grades in each level, regardless of degree program. REPEATED GRADES Starting in the fall of 1979, students were permitted to apply the repeat policy to a course by requesting that the previous grade be changed to an “R” and the original grade be removed from the GPA calculation. Beginning in the fall of 2012, for undergraduate courses, the repeat policy was changed so that the student’s original grade remains on the transcript, but will not be calculated into their GPA calculation. This original grade is identified by listing an “E” in the column next to the “Quality Points” column. The more recent grade is included in the transcript and will be labeled with an “I”. This can also be applied for repeated courses prior to fall 2012 if the previous policy is not requested. ENGLISH LANGUAGE INSTITUTE AND WILLMINGTON SCHOOL OF THE BIBLE Transcript pages which indicate Course Level: Institute do not contain undergraduate-level coursework. The courses on these specific transcript pages are institute-level only, even though Willmington School of the Bible (formerly Liberty Bible Institute) courses are numbered in the 100-200 range. ACADEMIC STANDING Good Academic Standing is implied unless otherwise noted. Students who fail to attain a minimum GPA for their Academic Level may be placed on Academic Warning, Academic Probation, Academic Suspension, or Academic Dismissal.
