GRADE POINT AVERAGE
The grade point average is listed at the end of each semester
for that semester; the cumulative GPA†
is at the end of the
transcript. The formula for calculating this is:
GPA = Quality Points divided by GPA Credit Hours
†
Cumulative GPA includes all grades in each level,
regardless of degree program.
REPEATED GRADES
Starting in the fall of 1979, students were permitted to apply
the repeat policy to a course by requesting that the previous
grade be changed to an “R” and the original grade be
removed from the GPA calculation. Beginning in the fall of
2012, for undergraduate courses, the repeat policy was
changed so that the student’s original grade remains on the
transcript, but will not be calculated into their GPA
calculation. This original grade is identified by listing an “E”
in the column next to the “Quality Points” column. The more
recent grade is included in the transcript and will be labeled
with an “I”. This can also be applied for repeated courses
prior to fall 2012 if the previous policy is not requested.
ENGLISH LANGUAGE INSTITUTE AND
WILLMINGTON SCHOOL OF THE BIBLE
Transcript pages which indicate Course Level: Institute do
not contain undergraduate-level coursework. The courses on
these specific transcript pages are institute-level only, even
though Willmington School of the Bible (formerly Liberty Bible
Institute) courses are numbered in the 100-200 range.
