** Undergraduate only
P and S grades are satisfactory work equivalent to a C
(2.000) or better for undergraduate students and a B (3.000)
or better for graduate students. Credits are added to total
completed.
U grade is unsatisfactory work equivalent to a C- (1.670) or
below. Credits are not added to total completed.
Prior to September 1991: A-, B+, C-, D+, S, U, NR grades
were not awarded. B+ equaled 3.500 points. C+ equaled
2.500 points.
CALCULATION OF GRADE POINT AVERAGE (QPA)
Multiply the grade points by the credit value for the course to
determine the number of grade points. The sum of the grade
points for the courses is divided by the sum of the credit
values of the courses to compute QPA.
ACADEMIC HONORS – Undergraduate
At the completion of each term, Dean’s List is awarded for
distinguished academic achievement to students who
complete a minimum of 15 credits towards a degree,
excluding courses with Pass grades, and achieve a minimum
QPA of 3.500 for the term.
GRADUATION HONORS – Undergraduate
Students must have a cumulative QPA as follows: cum laude,
minimum of 3.500; magna cum laude, minimum of 3.700;
summa cum laude, minimum of 3.800. Cumulative QPA is
used to determine honors at graduation or other academic
honors and includes grades for courses taken at all colleges
attended, but no higher honors are awarded than those earned
at Loyola University Maryland.
REPEAT POLICY – Undergraduate
Fall 1984-Present: Grades for a repeated course will be
included with the original grade in computation of the
cumulative QPA.
Effective June 1, 2002: Students may repeat failed Loyola
courses at another institution under the terms of Loyola’s
repeat policy.
REPEAT GRADES – Undergraduate
An R next to a grade (i.e., RB+) indicates a course was
repeated from a prior term. The R grade and the original
grade are calculated into term and cumulative QPA and
appear on the transcript.
REPLACEMENT GRADES – Undergraduate
Fall 1982-Present: An X next to a grade (i.e., XC+) indicates
the course was replaced in a subsequent term. An R next to a
grade (i.e., RB) indicates a course was repeated from a prior
term. The X grade is calculated only into term QPA but both
grades appear on the transcript.
Students changing majors may be permitted to replace major
courses in the original major with major courses in the new
major. The subsequent grade will replace the original grade
in the computation of the cumulative QPA regardless of
higher or lower than the original grade.
TRANSFER – Undergraduate
Credits represent work applicable to a current Loyola
curriculum. A grade of C (2.000) or higher must be earned in
the transfer course to be considered for credit and completion
of degree. Grades for these courses are considered when
determining graduation honors, but do not appear on the
transcript.
ADVANCED STANDING – Graduate
Credits accepted toward a current Loyola program must be of
B (3.000) quality or higher.
ENROLLMENT ELIGIBILITY
Unless otherwise noted on the transcript, a student is in good
standing and is eligible to enroll.

Credits are added to total completed. U grade is unsatisfactory work equivalent to a C- (1.670) or below. Credits are not added to total completed. Prior to September 1991: A-, B+, C-, D+, S, U, NR grades were not awarded. B+ equaled 3.500 points. C+ equaled 2.500 points. CALCULATION OF GRADE POINT AVERAGE (QPA) Multiply the grade points by the credit value for the course to determine the number of grade points. The sum of the grade points for the courses is divided by the sum of the credit values of the courses to compute QPA. ACADEMIC HONORS – Undergraduate At the completion of each term, Dean’s List is awarded for distinguished academic achievement to students who complete a minimum of 15 credits towards a degree, excluding courses with Pass grades, and achieve a minimum QPA of 3.500 for the term. GRADUATION HONORS – Undergraduate Students must have a cumulative QPA as follows: cum laude, minimum of 3.500; magna cum laude, minimum of 3.700; summa cum laude, minimum of 3.800. Cumulative QPA is used to determine honors at graduation or other academic honors and includes grades for courses taken at all colleges attended, but no higher honors are awarded than those earned at Loyola University Maryland. REPEAT POLICY – Undergraduate Fall 1984-Present: Grades for a repeated course will be included with the original grade in computation of the cumulative QPA. Effective June 1, 2002: Students may repeat failed Loyola courses at another institution under the terms of Loyola’s repeat policy. REPEAT GRADES – Undergraduate An R next to a grade (i.e., RB+) indicates a course was repeated from a prior term. The R grade and the original grade are calculated into term and cumulative QPA and appear on the transcript. REPLACEMENT GRADES – Undergraduate Fall 1982-Present: An X next to a grade (i.e., XC+) indicates the course was replaced in a subsequent term. An R next to a grade (i.e., RB) indicates a course was repeated from a prior term. The X grade is calculated only into term QPA but both grades appear on the transcript. Students changing majors may be permitted to replace major courses in the original major with major courses in the new major. The subsequent grade will replace the original grade in the computation of the cumulative QPA regardless of higher or lower than the original grade. TRANSFER – Undergraduate Credits represent work applicable to a current Loyola curriculum. A grade of C (2.000) or higher must be earned in the transfer course to be considered for credit and completion of degree. Grades for these courses are considered when determining graduation honors, but do not appear on the transcript. ADVANCED STANDING – Graduate Credits accepted toward a current Loyola program must be of B (3.000) quality or higher. ENROLLMENT ELIGIBILITY Unless otherwise noted on the transcript, a student is in good standing and is eligible to enroll. • • • • • • • • TO TEST FOR AUTHENTICITY: This transcript was delivered through the eSCRIP-SAFE® Global Transcript Delivery Network.
