16 my dreams
1. 16 / My Dreams
1 Every child nurses some dream in his young age. I also had a dream of becoming a
doctor. My father was suffering from diabetes for many years. His days were
numbered. I worked as his ‘PA’ and caretaker since the age of nine. I had prepared a
time table for his medication. In fact I learned to give him insulin injection every day.
Finally, he expired two months prior to his retirement at the age of 58 when I was
studying in Jr. B. Com. Twice he had TB and he was suffering from diabetes for over 35
years. I was nursing the dream of becoming a doctor in this backdrop of my life.
I had no thought of making money by becoming a doctor.
I spent my childhood in the grand company of medicines, injections instead of toys.
When I realized that my Dad won’t be with us for long and also realizing the financial
position, my dream of becoming a doctor evaporated in no time.
I joined commerce faculty after SSC and completed higher education. I took up a job in
the industry in 1975. I served in the industry for over 10 years and ventured into
practice in 1985. However my dream kept nagging me all the time. Finally, I learned
Alternate Therapies under the guidance of a well known doctor in 1998-99. I continued
my Medical study along with my professional practice. I made elaborate notes on
various topics and compiled tips on each disease etc. I have shared these notes on my
website and blog. With the help of this medical knowledge I am taking care of the
health of my family.
2 Having joined commerce faculty, my immediate dream was to complete B.Com and
then become a Chartered Accountant. As mentioned earlier, my father expired when
I was studying in Jr. B.Com. My dream of becoming CA got a jolt. However, my eldest
brothers supported me and encouraged me to undertake CA course. I am very much
indebted to both my brothers for their moral support.
3 Having successfully completed CA with flying colours in November 1974, my next
dream was to join the industry and head the Finance department and then to leave
the job on attaining financial stability and commence independent CA Practice.
4 I joined the Industry in June 1975 with the aim to retire by 2000. (Since 1995, I reduced
2. 2
my work load in a phased manner and utilized time for other activities.)
5 To act as faculty member and examiner. I have already covered this topic in the
chapter ‘My Guru.’
6 Photography. I have already covered this topic in the chapter ‘My Hobbies’.
7 To become an Author. (Hosted website www.spandane.com on 23-05-2008 and
uploaded number of books on Audit, Medical, and Life Philosophy etc.)
8 To learn Astrology. I have already covered this topic in the chapters ‘My Hobbies & My
Social Service.’
9 I also had small dreams without obsession. Such as to purchase car, (Purchased in 1989
and sold in 1992) to travel by first class, to travel by air, to undertake sea journey by
cabin class on a steamer etc. I have fulfilled those dreams. These small dreams had
roots in my childhood.
I am thankful to GOD for supporting me to fulfill my dreams. Only I Know the cost
of this journey. GOD is one who Gives On Demand.
