2. Like this scene in mean
girls where Lindsey
Lohan’s character is the
new girl
Taylor:
“I’ve never seen you around”
Sophie:
“Yeah, it’s my first day”
This is the introduction to our characters and their relationship. What we wanted to
portray in this scene is that Taylor is the only one who has met this new girl and we don’t
want to show anything from the point of view of Sophie (As she is meant to be a figment
of imagination) There fore we wanted to include an over shoulder shot so the audience
seems like they are on Taylors side and feel like Sophie is just a normal new girl.
3. Similar this close up
in oblivion where it is
clear the character
worried.
Close up of Grace looking concerned/angry
In this scene we wanted a close up of Taylor’s friend Grace as she begins to grow
concerned about Taylors wellbeing as she hasn’t seen or heard about the new girl from
anybody else. The close up will show the emotion creeping across her face. At first the
audience will probably feel as though she is jealous but as the bigger picture begins to
reveal itself about how she is actually ill they realise it is concern.
4. Similar to this shot of the
teacher in easy A.
Teacher:
“We are worried about you?”
“There’s help for people like you”
Here we wanted to show that the teacher is trying to express some concern for Taylor’s
wellbeing as her friend are worried. We decided to include a mid shot with loose framing
as to show that everything is becoming exposed for Taylor and she is starting to lose
control.
5. Like this scene in the Raid:
redemption
Taylor:
“What have you told her?!, I’m not crazy”
Taylor grabs and pushes Grace against wall, hitting her head
Whilst this happens jump cuts to Sophie in her position
This fight scene is where we want to start showing that Taylor has a mental health issue
and that Sophie isn’t real by trying to merge the two scenes at the same time. There will
be canted angles as this will contain a number of camera shots but all will be slightly
canted, erratic camera movement keeping up with the fight and loose framing to
reinforce Taylors erratic actions.
6. Similar to this scene
in the Blair witch
project near to the
end after her
friends had died.
Cuts to shaky big close up of Taylor
This is one of the final scenes and we wanted to show that Taylor had become so erratic
and insane that it was now clear that she had a mental health issues. Also we wanted to
show the audience how the character would be feeling like everything was closing in on
her this why we have used the big close up to show the intense emotion and tight framing
as she felt claustrophobic.
