2. At the beginning of the music video, there is a established shot
of two houses. As we can see, it is late because the lighting is
dark, almost all the rooms are in darkness except two rooms.
It makes this two rooms stand out and audience can notice
something happen between this two rooms. This is a start of
romance and a relationship.
3. This is a medium close up of a boy through the window. It takes
view outside the window , which let audiences feel they are
peeping him. According to his performance , he is walking around
the room while calling someone. The lyric says: You're on the phone
with your girlfriend ‒ she's upset, She's going off about something
that you said ,'Cause she doesn't get your humor like I do. From the
lyric we can know the boy in the frame is calling his girlfriend. His
face looks tired and unhappy, which suggests something
unpleasantness happened between his girlfriend and him.
4. The camera turns to another side, it locates in the boy’s
room and shoots through both windows .This frame gives
the distance between the main characters’ room, so that we
can learn they are neighbor and the girl(Taylor Swift) fancies
the boy who has had girlfriend. In addition, this is a extreme
long shot of Taylor, it shows that she is in leisure wear with
big glasses. It suggests that she is a good girl and looking
forward to a romantic relationship.
5. The camera cut zoom in and shows the leading female
character (Taylor Swift) holding a piece of paper with
words ‘you ok?’ on it. She is really care about how is
him judging from her worried face. It reinforces the
girl still loves him though he has girlfriend, she just
wants him to be happy. In addition, the lyric said:
'Cause she doesn't get your humor like I do.’
6. lyrics: but she wears short skirts
I wear t-shirts
She's cheer captain
And I'm on the bleachers
Taylor is singing and dancing in front of the mirror in a over-
shoulder shot, she likes normal girls wanting to be charming in
front of all the people as well as the boy, but she only stand in
front of the mirror being the only one audience. The dancing
and singing part give her star image which is kinds of adcerting
way of singer.
7. A medium close-up of Taylor Swift presents ‘star
image’ .This image shows she is holding a hairbrush
which is pretended to be a mic. She pretends to be a
singer and all the attentions will focus on her, she is
not the girl who wears T-shirt and sneakers. It suggests
she has the same dream as every common girl. The
colour of the whole frame is bright all the time, which
is quite suitable for the beats of this song, which
makes audiences feel happy and energetic.
8. This is close up and shallow focus of Taylor, her facial
expression suggests that she is a little bit shy and
surprise when the boy brushes her hair for her. On the
other hand, it hits the boy has feeling to her as well.
9. (The boy asked she whether she is coming to the party or not,
she said no. And the boy wrote: wish you are there)
This is a medium long shot from a distance of Taylor Swift
through crowded people. She wears a long pure white dress
just likes a princess, and her hair has been taken care. All the
people in that party are looking at her, she is the attraction in
the party which is as the same as her dream. She looks a little
nervous and she is looking for the boy. On the other hand, she
is in deep focus which let the main character stand out, it is
necessary to do this so that audience can see her at the first
sight.
10. This is a point of view of a
paper which was written ‘I
love you’ by Taylor on it. This
shot shows that she makes a
decision and speaks out her
feeling to the boy. The
background is all dark so that
it can makes the words stand
out.
This is another point of view of
the paper written the same
sentence as Taylor’s.
Obviously, there are plenty of
creases on the paper which
hints the boy has loved the girl
for a long time, but he has never
spoken out. This makes the story
have a happy ending, all the
audiences realize that a
romantic relationship is going to
happen now.
