1. "PERSONAL STATEMENT / MYSELF"
Taxes and subsidies, ratios and percentages, ledgers and their balances are
the most fascinating things to me as I always enjoy crunching the numbers. I
worked during my summer vacations, after the papers of matriculation at a travel
agency for book keeping the transactions of tickets sold daily. As a novice, I
initially found it difficult to handle but gradually gaining experience from my
mistakes and deepening my understandings I was able to do the job efficiently
with enthusiasm. This inflated in me the love for accounting and I decided to
pursue my career in this field.
Even though, many people are of the opinion that failure is their best
friend but for me failure is my ban. I am not ashamed to admit that I am afraid
of failure. When I was in Fourth standard, I hated maths because I failed it in
mid-term examinations. This trepidation of failure made me a stronger person in
a way that I started to pay extra attention to the course of maths and as a
result I secured 93 marks in final examinations. This was the moment in my life
that I finally began to appreciate maths for what it really is.
I always tried to study not just to gain marks but also for the sake of
knowledge. My teachers always acknowledge me as a good student and my name was
in their good books most of the time. In addition to this, I also teach
Mathematics and English to the students of O-levels and matric at a private
tuition center that helps me exaggerate important concepts developing my
communication, presentation skills and increase my confidence. It allows me to
explore innovative teaching methods and procure expertise in the subjects.
With academics, I never missed out any extra-curricular activity. I enjoyed
every bit of inter-school cricket and football tournaments as a team, however, I
managed to prioritize my tasks and use my time effectively. Managing business
stalls and participating in different projects was not only fun but also helped
me identify my capabilities. Being with mentally handicapped children at Dar-ul-
Sukun made me socially responsible and provoked me to do, as much as I could,
for them.
Since Accounting is strongly bonded with Mathematics, the person who is
competent in Maths vicinity could comfortably surpass in Financial Accounting.
Being currently the assistant teacher at college, I got every chance to unlock
the mysteries of Maths and apply my mathematical knowledge at other subjects
too. Furthermore, I received distinctions in Spellathon contest conducted by
Peak Freans and WWF.
When I think of LUMS, the aspects that most impress me and fan my desires
to immerse myself in the prestigious learning environment are LUMS' excellent
resources. I hope to acquire valuable skills in the field of Financial
Accounting to gain a stronghold in modern competitive world.
