Equal Pay Day highlights the persistent gender pay gap in the United States. While women earn 82 cents for every dollar earned by men when comparing all workers, the gap narrows to 98 cents when comparing men and women in the same jobs and with the same qualifications. Racial pay gaps also exist, with American Indian and Alaska Native women earning just 69 cents for every dollar earned by white men, showing no improvement from the previous year. To address these inequalities, Mastercard has introduced a new executive compensation structure tying pay to goals around financial inclusion, gender pay parity, and carbon neutrality.
