ABOUT THE WORKSHOP HOST:
Dr. Ronald (Ron) Sills, Founding Director, XTL &
DME Institute, is an internationally recognized
expert and speaker on energy issues. He is a
consultant in conversion technologies and
analyses of the natural gas/coal/biomass to
products value chain. He has been a
featured speaker at conferences in Paris, London, Brisbane,
Stockholm and Rome as well as numerous locations in USA.
He was the peer reviewer for the GTL section of IEA 2010
World Energy Outlook. Many presentations and articles
focused on GTL via methanol route, particularly DME and
MTG (Methanol-to-Gasoline). Dr. Sills is a board member
and technical advisor for Cool Planet Energy Systems, a
start-up company making carbon negative fuels from non-edible
biomass, and President of Ronald A. Sills LLC. Before
his retirement from BP in 2009, he was Gas Conversion
Network Leader and Engineering Manager in the
Conversion Technology Centre during the time that BP
developed its GTL via Fischer-Tropsch technology. Prior to
joining BP/Amoco in the 1990s, he was manager of Mobil’s
Research Planning and Evaluation Group at the Paulsboro
New Jersey Research Laboratory as well as a member of
the team for the development and commercialization of
the fixed-bed MTG process. He co-authored a National
Research Council report entitled Fuels to Drive Our Future.
in 1991. Dr. Sills is also an honorary member of the
International DME Association. Dr. Sills holds a Ph.D. and
M.S. in Chemical Engineering from MIT and a B.S. in
Chemical Engineering from Columbia University. He is the
co-inventor for 10 patents.
ABOUT THE XTL & DME INSTITUTE:
The institute was formed in 2010 to provide
educational and consulting services on all
aspects of the XTL supply chain, including
DME as a fuel and chemical feedstock. These services
are provided by Founding Directors, Dr. Ronald A. Sills,
and Dr. Theo H. Fleisch and Director, Dr. Iraj Isaac

Payment: If payment is not made at the time of booking, then an invoice will be issued and must be

card details will be requested and payment taken before entry to the event. Bookings within 7 days

Substitutions/Name Changes: If you are unable to attend you may nominate, in writing, another
