Overview:
The workshop investigates the classification and
categorization of resources within the SPE-PRMS
system. By the use of particular case studies, the
workshop will highlight the boundaries between class
and category when assessing resources for
management and financial disclosure. The
methodology for assessing hydrocarbons-in-place
and resources is explained and the significance of
uncertainty is described. Both deterministic and
probabilistic approaches to volumetric assessment
are outlined. The engineering toolkit, using static,
decline curve, material balance and reservoir
simulation, is described. The link between economic
valuation and net Reserves and Resources is
explained along with issues relating to aggregation
and reporting of these volumes.
Who should attend:
The workshop is targeted at mid to senior level
engineers, geoscientists and commercial staff
needing to understand better the principles and
practice of reserves and resource reporting.
Programme:
8.30 Registration and Coffee
9.00 Opening Remarks
9.10 Primary Resource Estimation Method
9.50 SPE-PRMS scheme
10.30 Morning Coffee
10.50 Estimation Tools and Assessment of
Recovery Factor
11.30 Risk and Uncertainty in Resources Estimation
12.10 Lunch
1.30 Reserves and Value
2.10 Reporting Reserves and Resources
3.00 End of Workshop

  • 4. Overview: The workshop investigates the classification and categorization of resources within the SPE-PRMS system. By the use of particular case studies, the workshop will highlight the boundaries between class and category when assessing resources for management and financial disclosure. The methodology for assessing hydrocarbons-in-place and resources is explained and the significance of uncertainty is described. Both deterministic and probabilistic approaches to volumetric assessment are outlined. The engineering toolkit, using static, decline curve, material balance and reservoir simulation, is described. The link between economic valuation and net Reserves and Resources is explained along with issues relating to aggregation and reporting of these volumes. Who should attend: The workshop is targeted at mid to senior level engineers, geoscientists and commercial staff needing to understand better the principles and practice of reserves and resource reporting.
