Zzyz Creation Myth Summary
This changes things for Shane, and he now is more curious about the supernatural more. Now,
Daniel reveals the story of origins, Seth takes control of Zzyz legion, and transforms earth into a
mortal wasteland which he devises a plan to trick Zzyz's creation into mortal bondage. But Zzyz is
wise, and tricks Seth by giving the humans immortality if they can return back to immortal lands.
An immortal land named the Garden of Ether, is in the center of Polus crossing four rivers. The
battle starts in a region named Thenn, near the outer rims of the ice wall and volcanic lands
bordering three dimensions: the underworld known as Zion, earth, and Polus. Seth takes control of

Petra, located in Jordan, is where Israelites were forbidden to enter, if one did they will die by the
traps set by reptilians to protect their portal. Civilizations such as the Egyptians, Mayans, and Aztecs
worshipped the reptilians as gods. As grounds for honor, civilizations built the Pyramids as places of
human sacrifice and burial. Daniel and Shane discuss whether to disturb the reptilian cave to find
answers. After seeing the LENNOX, Shane has no doubt to go forward with the plan. In a flashback,
Shane as an infant, had nightmarish vision of a blood bath and destruction of the world. Unless
something bigger is done, Seth legion will destroy the world soon enough, whether Shane plan to
reach the other dimension will succeed is unknown. Shane and Daniel reach their destination at the
Grand Canyon, enter the cave, and believe they reached the portal to another dimension. But the
cave turns out to be a trap, but they find a map of the flat earth and mirror made of crystal. Also,
Shane discovers that the only working portal is located in Petra and Antarctica. An earthquake
occurs and the cave is closed shut, the cave becomes dark and musty. The mirror begins to light up
and a reptilian snatches Daniel. Shane manages to escape the cave finding another exit but is now

Primates Do Not Live In Cages
The movie, "Unlocking the Cage" by director Chris Hegedus and D. A. Pennebaker, follows the
challenges that Steven Wise, a lawyer fighting for the rights of primates, and the Nonhuman Rights
Project, a group fighting for the rights of animals, against the law. They find a bunch of primates
who are locked up around the United States of America and sue for their legal freedom, by going
from a thing to a legal person with legal protections. The furthest he has ever got to was with
Hercules and Leo. In all cases, however, they lost because the judges could not see them as a legal
person holding legal protections. The issue of the argument is should primates be considered a legal
person and should be entitled to basic rights and protections? As it stands, primates do not have ...

However, sanctuaries exist, such as the one in Florida, where primates from around the country goes
to live a much better life rather than live a life in a small, isolated cage with no interaction. Steven
Wise and the Nonhuman Rights Project wants to move primates into the sanctuaries so that they do
not have to live in cages. Their claim is that primates are considered a legal person and are entitled
to basic rights, such as those given to children. He states many reasons as to why they are
considered a legal person and not a thing with no rights. One reason that he states is that primates
are able to understand humans and can communicate with them. They have the capacity to
understand humans along with communicating with them. The strength of this reason is that it
shows that primates can communicate with humans and can learn from them since they can
understand humans. The weakness of this reason is that any animal can understand humans and
some animals can speak languages, closer than what primates can do. There were three monkeys in
the movie to show that primates have the capacity to

Analysis of Before the Rain Essay
Analysis of Before the Rain Before the Rain, filmed on location in the Republic of Macedonia and
in London is a trilogy that focuses on the conflict between Muslims and Orthodox Christians in the
Balkans. The three chapters of the trilogy are " Words," " Faces" and " Pictures." Director Milcho
Manchevski states; " Before the Rain, refers to the feeling of heavy expectation, when the skies are
pregnant with the possibility of an outburst, when people are silent, waiting for a tragedy of
cleansing"(1). The movie is a circle in itself, showing the reoccurring cycles of violence and hate. In
the first chapter, "Words," the audience is introduced to Kirkil, a Macedonian Monk who has taken a

"The construction of Manchevski's story is intended to demonstrate the futility of ancient hatreds.
There are a few moments in the film in which hatred of others is greater than love of one's own.
Imagine a culture where a man would rather kill his daughter than allow her to love a man from
another culture, and one will have an idea of the depth of bitterness in this film, the insane lengths to
which men can be driven by belief and prejudice" ( Ebert 3). Mise–en–scene is a French term
roughly translated as " what is put into the Scene." Before the Rain, uses examples of mise–en–
scene through out the movie. Each of the three chapters is opened with a plane flying across a blue
sky. The purpose to incorporate the plane in each part is used by Manchevski to show a sense of
escape. In the third chapter, the plane Aleksander is on lands in Macedonia. This symbolizes
Aleksander's desire to be "home," while the other citizens of Albania and Macedonia would rather
escape by flying away. The deliberate use of the sky in each chapter of the movie is used by
Manchevski to show " the heavy expectation... when the people are silent, waiting for a tragedy of
cleansing"(Manchevski 1). Kirkil, Anne and Aleksander all are filmed vomiting, implying that the
realization of violence amongst people is nauseating to them. Often children are shown with guns,
and in one scene a gun is taken from a child and given to a retard,

Themes Of Monkey A Journey To The West
Madelyne Marrone HH 361 Monkey: A Journey to the West Throughout Chinese history there has
been three main religions or philosophies that were practiced by all within the empire. These include
Taoism, Buddhism and Confucianism. Wu–Ch'Êng–Ên is able to depict all of these religions in his
novel which is considered a traditional Chinese folk tale "A journey to the West" or also known as
"Monkey." This folk novel depicts the main character Monkey and his journey through life and then
later including that of a Buddhist monk Tripitaka, Pigsy and Sandy. All are considered to be
examples of human characteristics and flaws of human character, yet all are on a pilgrimage which
will ultimately transform their character. Each journey and section of the novel incorporates
different aspects of each of the religions which eventually prove to be intertwined in order to attain
success and balance. From the beginning of the novel there are Taoist qualities. Taoism translates to
"the way" meaning the ideal way to follow life. Taoists appreciate nature and consider nature to be a
very important part of their philosophy. Monkey can be considered as Daoist from the beginning. He
was born from a rock in nature and is seeking immortality. Immortality and longevity are sought out
by Daoist followers. The nature component and simplistic components involve living within the
cave with rock couches and utensils and houses with no other desire for physical possessions.
Taoists also value the

Funny Boy Book Report
The author, Shyam Selvadurai receives this story to the reader in the first person narrative mode
from the perspective of the main character, Arje. The child narrator of this book helps readers to
recognize conflicts that any family can have. Also, Arje's point of view offers a simple writing style
and it helps readers to understand the novel very well. When the readers identifies the author's
writing style, they can recognize the author's personalities by his writing styles, and how he
apperceive the readers. Also, readers can see how the author uses his writing style to express the
message to the readers simply, clearly and convincingly. Moreover, readers also observe how the
author uses different types of writing styles. Firstly, the author uses different types of writing styles
in this book, he uses Expository and descriptive writing styles to explain how something works or
persuade people to agree with his point of view. So, when the author feels like describing a
character, a place, a thing or an event, he writes in descriptive writing style. In this quote, "The
principal, His real name is Mr. Abeysinghe, but we call him black tie because he always wears one.
You'd better watch out for him." Diggy Chelvarathnam, Chapter 4, Pg 234, Funny Boy ... Show

Which is the principal. Also, he describes this principal as an intolerant person. Also, the author says
"Black tie" which is a symbol and he is using it to represent the principal's strength, seriousness,
power and his negativity. The next writing method the author is using is Expository writing style.
So, when the author feels like explaining given topic or subject without any personal opinions, he
uses this writing method. For instance, this quote talks about a punishment students get when they

The Three Gods Neke, Xea And Sanvi
"In the beginning there were only three gods: Neke, Xea and Sanvi. Sanvi and Xea had a son called
Fussa who later was the king of the gods – he was the god of courage and wisdom. However, there
was nothing on the earth that could be brave or wise. In fact, there was nothing on the earth at all;
just a barren wasteland.
He wondered how to change this. First he decided to ask his mother Xea to plant many, many seeds.
Then he asked the rain goddess Neke to create a powerful storm. It lasted three days and three
nights. After, he asked Sanvi the sun god (and his father) to warm the earth. By the end, there were
plants everywhere in all shapes, sizes and colours. It was a sea of jade green leaves, pastel blossoms
and bright ripening fruit. Yet there was some–thing missing.
"Creatures!" he thought. "We must create some!"

Sanvi was furious; he made huge deserts with the sun's harsh heat. Neke cried so much her tears
created expanses of sea and winding paths of rivers. Xea pummelled and pushed the ground,
making mountains and valleys. Fussa thought of a justly awful way to punish him. Finally, he had an
idea.
He was taken to mountain – the tallest mountain around – and had to push it down. The top was so
pointed that if he were distracted, even for a moment, he would be skewered. Permanently. It was
precarious work. Sho managed to push it ever so slightly down each day, but during the night it
would stubbornly rise back up. Mean–while the gods remade the world with all the plants and
animals, but thought they should make something to keep it in check. First they made monkeys but
they were too mischievous. Next they made primates, but they were too involved in themselves.
Eventually they found the perfect combination of strength, wits and kindness to make the first men
and women. They did their job well (most of the time).

Mahatma Gandhi
Mahatma Gandhi Growing up Born in 1869 on October 2. Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi, also
known as Mahatma Gandhi lived in Porbandar, a region of India that (at the time) was a part of the
British Empire, now known as Gujarat. Growing up, Gandhi worshipped the Hindu god Vishnu. His
belief of Jainism aimed to achieve the liberation of the soul, embracing non–violence, meditation
and vegetarianism. He believed in Ahimsa meaning non–violence and equality. As a young child,
Gandhi was considered being shy, timid and an unremarkable student. Aged 18, he sailed to England
to study where he read a variety of sacred texts and learnt more about world religions. He later
explains "if only we could, all of us, read the scriptures of the different Faiths from the stand–point
of the followers of those faiths, we should find that they were at the bottom, all one and were all
helpful to one another" he considered them a comfort and recommended everyone to read them at
some point in time. He stayed in England for 3 years before returning back to India where he
struggled to gain any footing as a lawyer and wrestled to find work, therefore taking a job offer in

The Culture Of Liberia Essay
1. Year 2 2. Title: Two ways to count to ten 3. Country of origin: Liberia 4. Social and moral themes
Community and environment Leadership, fairness and equality Respect for others 5. Why I chose
this story I have selected an African folktale in order to teach about diversity and other cultures, and
because that topic will give my students a universal foundation. In this sense, some students may be
surprised that English is the dominant language in Liberia. They may be even more surprised to
learn that Liberia was founded by Americans. Often, the stories have an important message about
individuals' interdependence in a community, and how people should behave. The aim is to build a
stronger rapport and sense of community in the classroom by engaging the children in group–work;
the students have to discover the link between learning and social skills. They need to recognize that
learning is an integral part of their lives. In the country of Liberia, people in some communities
share stories with each other in a place called the palaver hut, a place also used for conflict
resolutions: "the functional center of the tribal village is the palaver house. The chief and his elders
convene at the palaver house almost daily and the tribesmen come to discuss and settle their
numerous problems, differences, and claims" (Wilson, 1947, p. 69). The palaver hut is a safe, sacred
space, where no violence is permitted. Because it is a circle, everyone seated there has equal rights,

Cinderella And Cinderell The Story Of Cinderella
Ah marriage! That one blissful day all young girls dream of, standing at the altar in a beautiful white
dress, gazing into the dreamy eyes of her beloved and promising to be wed till "Death do them part."
Reality soon sets in after that. Her Prince Charming is a real man! His feet stink, and he throws his
dirty laundry on the floor. Was it not meant to be? How does Cinderella handle it? I talked with a
young woman in my church that is still relatively a newlywed. Mrs. Jewel Ward was raised in
church, has been married for a little over 2 years and is expecting their first child. She is the only
young woman in our church who is married and I was interested to see how she dealt with "reality"
once the honeymoon phase was over. Would marriage be full of struggles like the world likes to tell
us, or would having a solid foundation in God strengthen the bond?
Every girl plans out their life to some extent or another, and Mrs. Ward was no exception. Sitting in
school, she thought of the future. "I want to get married halfway through college and be able to
announce my first pregnancy on my graduation day." she decided. Check, and check! Her life is
coming together the way she hoped. One thing though that she planned on did not come to pass;
before her wedding day, she was preparing herself for the inevitable struggles that would come
along with the wedded bliss. Many of those struggles that she was sure would come along never
have. Why? Aren't young marriages bound to be full of ups

The Necklace, A Monkey's Paw, And The Gift Of Magi
"The Necklace," "A Monkey's Paw," and "The Gift of Magi" all have a distinctive technique that
leads to a deeper meaning of the story. The technique of "The Necklace" is represented by
symbolism of the necklace. In "A Monkey's Paw," the technique that is seen is foreshadowing. In
"The Gift of Magi," irony is the technique that is noticed throughout the story. All three short stories
deal with the irony of consequence. Each story involved a major decision and in each case the result
of the decision was incredibly unexpected. Through symbolism, foreshadowing, and irony the
authors conclude that what's inside the heart is far more important than material wealth. In "The
Necklace" Mathilde is a poor young woman who idolizes beautiful things ... Show more content on

If she would've been proud of her inner beauty and not so focused on wealth and status, then her life
would have been so much more rewarding. She learned the incredibly tough consequence of not
Madame Forester about losing the necklace. Her decision cost herself time and money but more
importantly, cost Mathilde her pride. In "The Gift of Magi," Della and Jim sacrifice their prized
possessions for each other and for love. Irony is represented in this story when Della and Jim both
get each other gifts that mean a lot to each other. However, what they did not realize is that when
Della cut her hair to to buy Jim a chain for his watch, she was unaware that Jim was going to sell his
watch to buy her combs for her hair. The irony of their gift exchange is monumental as their
unconditional love for one another took over for their own personal possession. Jim exclaims, "I
don't think there's anything in the way of a haircut or a shave or a shampoo that could make me like
my girl any less. But if you'll unwrap that package you may see why you had me going a while at
first." The magi which are described as wise men also signifies irony because Della and Jim's
presents were more than wise. They represented that a gift does not need to be expensive to have
value. A gift can be more meaningful just by the thought. "The Monkey's Paw," deals with a family's
unwillingness to accept things as they should be. They desired more and paid the dire

Similarities Between Jesus's Sermon On The Mount And...
Similarity between Sermon on the Mount and Jataka Tales
Introduction
Buddhism and Christianity are closely related in many unique ways. While their founders exhibit
significant differences in when they began their existence in the world, their teachings hugely
resemble each other. Gautama Buddha was reported to have lived about 600 or 500 before Christ
was born. Buddha was born in Nepal, India while Jesus was born in Bethlehem, which is currently
located in Palestine. Both Jesus and Buddha espoused altruism and always insisted in service of
others. They emphasized the need for giving than receiving and both believed in love as the only
tool of defeating hatred. Both teachings contained the need not to judge others. A key difference
between the two was how Buddha taught followers to lose one's self to receive Nirvana while Jesus
encouraged his people to lose one's self in order to receive an everlasting life (Talim, Jeffrey &
Anant, 67). This assignment attempts to highlight the similarity between Jesus's Sermon on the
Mount and Gautama Buddha's Jataka Tales.
Similarity between Jesus's Sermon on the Mount and Gautama Buddha's Jataka Tales.
Jesus's Sermon on the Mount, as outlined in the book of Matthew chapter five to seven, employed
ordinary worldly objects and events that people associated with daily to communicate a divine
message. For instance, Jesus challenged his followers that they should be salt and light in the world

Analysis Of Las Cuatro Gibbis Sabias
Liz Volpi created her lithography printmaking painting Las Cuatro Gibbis Sabias made with
Senefelder black ink on archival paper. The Spanish title means "together at last" in English. The
painting's subject is an animated character named "Gibbi" repeated four times in four images
illustrating three popular actions of the "Three Wise Monkeys" symbol: "see no evil", "hear no evil",
"speak no evil", and the fourth one is the creativity of the artist – "do no evil". Each action is a
rectangle with different gestures of the subject. The artwork was presented in an exhibition at
Brookhaven College Gallery (F Building) in November, 2017 and belongs to Liz Volpi under David
Newman's instruction.
The work is a representation of the gestures of "Three Wise Monkeys" symbol from Japan as God's
advice to "see no evil, hear no evil, speak no evil" and usually come with "do no evil". Four parts of
the painting are centered on the subject with two–thirds in space, so there is a small amount of
unused space on the top of each part for the background. Liz Volpi uses only black and white in her
work with contrast between the subject and background. The color value changes from rectangle to
rectangle. If the Gibbi is painted black, the background is lighter with grey or white and vice versa,
which creates contrast and highlights the actions of the subject. The subject in top left and bottom
right images is painted in darker value than the background and the subject in bottom left and top
right is painted in lighter value than the background. Volpi uses broken thin lines to direct viewers'
eyes into the character. The broken lines are the skin's type of Gibbi as description of a different
kind of species.
The repetition of the painting's subject – Gibbi provides a sense of unity while the different actions
of the subject between the four images offer variety. This variety moves the viewers' eye around the
painting. In each image, the viewers' attention is centered on the various actions of the subject's
hands and the gestures of the subject's face to express the meaning of each phrase written on the top
of each rectangle. The first image on top left represents "speak no evil" with Gibbi's hands covering
her mouth. "See no evil"

One of the most strange and different animals I saw there was an Axolotl, A Mexican Salamander

endangered due to the fact that they were sold in Mexico as food and the polluted water. The Axolotl

Cartoons And The Powerpuff Girls
"Ed, Edd n Eddy" and "The Powerpuff Girls": Different Cartoons, Similar Traits
Danny Antonucci, creator of the well–renowned children's cartoon "Ed, Edd n Eddy", did not
originally make cartoons of the sort. His career had previously consisted of more explicit, adult
cartoons; the animation was the result of a dare given to him to create a new production for younger
audiences (Celebrity Bio). In a similar way, Craig McCracken originally called his cartoon centered
around crime–fighting girls "Whoopass Stew". When it aired on television, it was changed to "The

Movies). These small coincidences between the creators are far from the only similarities between

Buttercup is the tough, 'don't–mess–with–me' one. While these characters come from different
cartoons, it is easy to see that they share many similar attributes with only subtle contrast.
While the connections between both cartoons' settings are not as easy to make, they're not the most
difficult to, either. All episodes of both cartoons are situated in one general location.
"Ed, Edd n Eddy" takes place in a small town called Peach Creek, with a suburban neighborhood
and cul–de–sac that the three spend most of their time in. On the other hand, "The Powerpuff
Girls" takes place in the city of Townsville, which is primarily urban and has its own mayor. But
while the two settings are geographically different, they both have a forest with woodland creatures
that the two trios have visited as a way to complete their goals. For instance, in one episode, the Eds
attempted to execute a scam involving frogs ("Thick as an Ed"). Similarly, the girls once saved a
squirrel from an eagle ("Stray Bullet"). Lastly, school is depicted in both cartoons. In the fifth season
of "Ed, Edd n Eddy", the three are junior high students, while throughout "The Powerpuff Girls", the
three are kindergartners. While not as obvious as the connections between the

This may be a form of irritation to some consumers, and may also give headaches to users of the
product, who have a rather sensitive sense of smell. Another major weakness of the product may be
that it is rather expensive, charging $1 for each Grease Monkey Wipe, meaning that a lot of
customers would not actually find it feasible to purchase and use this product. Another weakness
that may be considered is that the wipes are not sold in bulk, as many consumers may prefer to buy
them that way, rather they are individually packed. Finally, the most important weakness of Grease
Monkey Wipes may be that, since they have only been in business for months, not too many
customers, who are willing to buy their product, actually know of their existence, which means that
they may be losing out on high amounts of revenue. Therefore, it's important to position their brand,

The Woman Warrior By Maxine Hong Kingston Essay

The Woman Warrior
Language is a system of communication used by humans either written or spoken to communicate
our thoughts and feelings. Our thoughts and feelings we want to communicate to our loved ones, to
our friends, to people we work with or go to school with and even to strangers. Maxine Hong
Kingston in her memoir The Woman Warrior explores language and the use of language to express
what Kingston finds as several conflicts. The conflict of the immigrant experience and the conflict
of having to be a Chinese– American woman along with the expectation of being "silent". Maxine
Hong Kingston provides a remarkable memoir that blends Chinese folktales and personal narratives.
Much throughout her memoir Kingston, tells narratives of "talk– stories", which are stories blended
of her family stories and cultural myths that she has heard. For example the story of Kingston's un–
named, "no named" aunt. The only knowledge Kingston has of her aunt are the hushed stories her
mother tells, the rest Kingston spins with what she may have thought is what had happened. In this
sense Kingston' is an unreliable narrator, leaving readers to question which parts of what Kingston is
saying is actually true and which parts are pieces of her imagination. Kingston 's unreliableness as a
narrator could also be symbolic of stories told in history. Many times we hear stories of events that
may have happened, but we

The first example of a faustian bargain is when Jin a character in the novel wants to become like
Greg by copying his hair just to impress and get a girl. He is changing himself just to get a girl by
changing his hair and adopting a new way of life. A wise one says "It's easy to become anything you
wish . . . so long as you're willing to forfeit your soul." This quotation works to develop the idea that
if someone changes themselves too much, they could risk losing an important part of their identity.
Another example of this would be during the story would be at the end of the story when the
monkey king has a meeting with Jin and he says "You know, Jin, I would have saved myself from
five hundred years' imprisonment beneath a mountain of rock had I only realized how good it is to
be a monkey." The Monkey King revealed his true form (from chinkee to Monkey King) he came
here to tell Jin that he was changing himself to achieve and get something to but then he realized
that it's better to be who you are and not want to change yourself for something. This piece of
evidence relates with the theme of faustian bargain because the Monkey King makes Jin realize by
using himself as an example because he to wanted to change himself from being a monkey but then
he slowly realized how much better it is to just be a monkey then change into a different

Sardonicus, Gospel According To Mark And Blood Disease
In literature, themes and conflicts are what make a story so special, as they incite the reader's
attention and curiosity. Gothic literature is no different, as gothic stories tend to have more depth in
their themes and deeper conflicts. This essay will examine the conflicts of the stories Sardonicus,
Gospel According to Mark and Blood Disease, as well as their purposes in the story. In Ray
Russell's story, Sardonicus, the main conflict is love between two individuals, as well as love with
oneself. Sardonicus, a protagonist, is at the center of this conflict; he loved his wife, Maude, as seen
when he says "you perhaps would say I fell in love with her" (Baldick 456), and put the love for
himself over his love for her. At first, his love for ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In this story, many different medical terms are mentioned, such as anemia and malaria, and how they
affected characters in the story. The protagonist, Congo Bill, experienced multiple known symptoms
of malaria, such as "weakness, vomiting, cough, diarrhea" (WHO 149). Also, his pale figure is also
scientifically proven; pale skin is due to low oxygen levels in the body caused by the malaria (EB
Medicine 4). However, the anemic characters in the story, like Kevin Pander and the others at the
Blue Bat Inn, displayed some uncharacteristic vampire–like behaviors. As mentioned by Ronald
Dexter, an individual in the story, "I shall be set upon by vampires" (Baldick 504). This foreshadows
what is to come as vampires tend to kill their victims by sucking out their blood. Also, in connection
to the vampire theme, the author chose to name the motel Blue Bat inn, where bats are a symbol for
vampires. Ronald refers to them as vampires due to their disease, anemia. Anemics have a low red
blood cell count, which causes them to get weaker. Their craving for fresh blood is explained by
their vampirism: in order to stay alive, they need to consume fresh blood. However, drinking blood
has no scientific evidence of it being a cure or a remedy(Robson). On the contrary, if blood is
ingested, just as any other liquid, it will be digested. Thus, this incites a scientific phenomenon that
cannot be explained. The lingering mystery lies in how these individuals remain alive after more
than 5 years of taking in blood in an unscientific manner. Moreover, the mystery of the monkey also
remains unexplainable. While reading, we assume that the flea that jumped from the monkey to
Frank transported malaria and left its host after its death from said disease. However, at the end of
the story, the monkey came back to life and left with the little girl carrying him. There is a
possibility that the tic turned

Hiv Virus Research Paper
The worst viruses in the world seem to appear out of nowhere and spread like wildfire, infecting
hundreds of thousands of people before researchers can even get a toehold on what it is that is
killing people. Viruses are not alive, but saying they are makes it seem like it is possible to stop
them. They do not rely on any energy or food source, and only need living cells to thrive and
reproduce, therefore anything that can kill a virus also has to kill the host, which is what makes them
frightening. HIV, or Human Immunodeficiency Virus, is a virus that had a massive outbreak in
America in the early 1980s, and has since killed up to 37 million people that have progressed to the
final stage, or AIDS. (Acquired Immunodeficiency Syndrome) HIV ... Show more content on

After further research, they found that the chimps ate two smaller species of monkeys that had two
different strains of SIV, allowing the virus to transmit into the chimps. Because the smaller monkeys
were infected with two different strains of SIV, it was inevitable that the chimps would be infected
with both kinds, and in some cases even developed mutated versions of the two combined. When
these strains mutated, they became capable to infect humans, and this mutation became known as
HIV. Humans in the area that the infected chimps lived in hunted the chimps for food, and so HIV
was brought into the human population. In most cases, the infected human's immune system fought
off HIV, but sometimes it stayed and became a parasite in the new host, making this host HIV–1.
More than one HIV–1 people exist because more than one person contracted it from the monkeys,
and so the strain in each HIV–1 was different. HIV is classified into four substrains; M, N, O, and P.
Strain M is the responsible for most AIDS deaths. (Origin story from www.avert.org) Right now,
36.7 million people globally are living with HIV, (www.aids.gov) and 2.1 in 100,000 people will die
from AIDS. (www.cdc.gov) In The Hot Zone, the Ebola origins are said to be in either fruit bats or
primates at a cave in Africa known as Kitum Cave. In 1976, the poor man, Monet, went into that
cave and inevitably contracted it, starting an outbreak to be followed by countless more. However,
though it would be easier to just assume that we could follow the trail of that outbreak, that is not
the case. That was just the outbreak of one out of 5 Ebola strains known as Ebola Zaire, the most
deadly out of the filovirus strains with a 90% fatality rate. (www.who.int) A completely different
outbreak began also in 1976 in Sudan when a hospital transmitted the disease from one infected
patient to many

A JOKE – ! Globalization !
Question: What is the height of globalization?
Answer: Princess Diana's death.
Question: How come?
Answer: An English princess with an Egyptian boyfriend crashes in a French tunnel, driving a
German car with a Dutch engine, driven by a Belgian who was high on Scottish whiskey, followed
closely by Italian Paparazzi, on Japanese motorcycles, treated by an American doctor, using
Brazilian medicines! And this is sent to you by an Indian, using Bill Gates' technology, which he
stole from the Japanese. And you are probably reading this on one of the IBM clones that use
Philippine–made chips, and Korean made monitors, assembled by Bangladeshi workers in a
Singapore plant, transported by lorries driven by Malaysians, hijacked by Indonesians and finally
sold to you by a Chinese!
That's Globalization!

To some, 'globalization' is seen in concepts such as:
Coco–colonization – a market created to promote a consumerist culture.
Cultural imperialism– overpowering local traditions; western ideals falsely established as universal.
McDonaldization – a fast food doctored to spread efficient, controllable, and predictable human
practices.
Americanization – the hegemonic influence of the values and habits of the United States promoted
through the news media and popular culture.

Summary Of The Fourth Of July By Audre Lorde
Fourth Of July
The famous Japanese proverb and image of the three wise monkeys "see no evil, hear no evil, speak
no evil" is interpreted in the Western world as a refusal to acknowledge the evil that occurs around
us. In the autobiography, The Fourth of July, by Audre Lorde, she describes an event in her life in
which she experienced racism. Lorde's parents made sure their kids were sheltered from the racism
going on in the world and kept them from seeing it. Audre Lorde encounters racism even though her
parents tried to hide it from her, which shows how being sheltered from issues in the world can
cause greater problems when they are faced.
In the beginning, Lorde's parents attempt to hide the racism that exists in America by making up
excuses. For example, Lorde reflects on what her mother said to her when she wanted to eat in the
dining car, "I wanted to eat in the dining car because I had read all about them, but my mother
reminded me for the umpteenth time that dining car food always cost too much money . . . My
mother never mentioned that black people were not allowed into railroad dining cars headed south
in 1947" (240). When Lorde says that her mother reminded her for the umpteenth time, it
demonstrates a hyperbole because it's an over exaggeration for the sake of emphasizing that her
mother has reminded her many times. Lorde's parents try to protect her from the racism by
pretending it doesn't exist, which might be good in the present moment, but when faced with

Critique Of The Constancy Upon Women At The Time in William Shakespeare's The Merchant of
Venice In the merchant of Venice Shakespeare has presented three main women characters. These
three characters are, Portia, Jessica and Nerissa. Each of these characters come with a different area
of society. Women in the time this was set, were not aloud to do anything. They were treated badly,

For women in this period of time I think that this is very unusual, as she is able to tern a situation in
favor of Antonio, to save his life when none of the men could. Again in Act 4 scene 2 it shows how
stubborn and cunning she can be. Portia who is married to Bassanio, who has just saved Antonio's
life, is trying to test his love towards her by asking for his ring. At the start of the scene he wouldn't
give her the ring but as is shows she made him do it. "And if your wife not be a mad women, and
know how well I have diserv'd this ring, she would not hold out enemy for ever for giving it to me".
I think the way she used her use of language talking to Bassanio was very unusual. This is because
she makes it sound very encouraging, and makes it sound like a test of love. Portia uses her wit to
convince Bassanio to surrender the ring that he vowed that he would never part with. Although
Portia is kind, and innocent, she is very stubborn even towards her husband and she sticks to what
she wants. Shakespeare has made Portia triumphant over men. Whose beauty, intelligence, quick wit
and high moral stand out. She is known throughout the world for her beauty, and she is able to

There are several stories that have monkey as an important character. In Hindu culture, the most
famous monkey character is Hanuman, from the great Ramayana. Similar to Lutung, Hanuman is
also a son of a goddess. The different is that Lutung is actually born in a human form, while
Hanuman is originally born as a monkey. Another story that has monkey as its character is "Journey
to the West". The character is a monkey, which is also named Monkey. Same with Lutung, Monkey
in this story goes to a place which is not his origin place. Monkey is also shown to be a good leader
in his society. Lutung is also a good leader for all other animals and pohaci in the forest where
Purbasari is exiled. The major different between these two characters, Hanuman and Monkey, with

Common Themes In Seger's Creating The Myth
Until reading Seger's, "Creating the Myth" I did not realize how movies are connected in a special
way. Most movies have the common background, and similar heroic endings, through the story is
usually different from one another. The movie I will be analyzing is The Lion King. It is not the
traditional superhero movie, but it has the same common principles. There were many universal
themes embedded in this movie to help us connect more with the movie. Seger mentions in
paragraph 13, "many times...the hero doesn't want to leave," and this is true. Simba, in The Lion
King, did not want to leave but he felt his father, Mufasa, death was because of him. Simba lost
himself and literally almost died from running away until he got help from some unusual creatures.
This is another point Seger mentions in paragraph 14, "the hero usually receives help, and the help
often comes from unusual sources." Without the help from Pumba and Timon, Simba realistically
would have died whether from starvation or depression. These creatures taught him, Hakuna Matata,
which taught Simba not to worry about things he could not fix. Thus, they helped him, in a way, get
away from his past life and pain. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Speech On Animal Exploitation
Exploitation is explained as the act of using resources or treating people unfairly in
order to benefit from their effort or labour. Exploitation has been a big issue discussed among
all countries in the world because it can be occured everywhere and fiercely trap everybody
without exception. There are some kinds of exploitation, e.g. human exploitation known as
human trafficking and animal exploitation which has been the cause of population reduction
and extinction for some species. Between those exploitations, human exploitation or human
trafficking is the most prominent case viewed by the media. However, animal exploitation is
an issue which needs quick responses and fast solutions due to its impact. In some countries,

Thus, animals are not going to utter
words when someone or something hurts them, they will use their body language or sound
instead. As a wise human, we have to be able to distinguish how to treat sentient and non–
sentient creatures.
The second reason is that animal exploitation is considered immoral. Why is it
considered immoral? They are just animals! It is right, they are just animals. However, the
exploitation is against the constitution number 15 year 1990 about the conservation of
biological natural resources and its ecosystem because in exploiting animals the action of
torturing and hurting them are involved there. There are so many exploitation cases involving
animals occurred in Indonesia and other countries in the world. The following cases are some
of them:
 During the 1990s, the number of African elephants was decreasing from 5–10
million to 600.000 due to ivory trading. For this reason, the African elephants
were added to the list of critically endangered species by the UN CITES
(United Nation Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species).

Knowing From Whence Someone Or Something Came
Knowing from whence someone or something came is very important. It is important because the
origin of a person or thing provides a steady foundation for what is to come later on.
The foundation can be a good one or a bad one. If the foundation is good, the end product usually is
a good one. If the foundation is bad, it may explain the cracks or weaknesses in the finished product.
This is why the origin of all things is so important. The one thing that most religions have in come is
that they all center on the start of the religion. There are celebrations and festivals honor the
founding and or founder of a religion.
There are also re–enactments of the first time that a particular ritual was performed. There are also
rituals performed in celebration of the first time a deity performed acts of kindness or mercy.
Various religions also share the belief that humans did not create themselves or anything in this
world. It is all a result of divine intervention. Out of all the religions that we have studied this term,
only three either partially believes or disbelieve entirely in the idea of any form of deity as being the
creator of all things. Jainist and Buddhists do not accept the idea that there is a God, nor do they
believe that any sort of spiritual being was responsible for the creation of the world. Those who
practice Shinto, believe that spirituality is only half of the puzzle of how things came to be.
According to Jainist, the world has no creator...it

the astronaut, which is why many hours of training are spent in isolation from others. On long space

communication systems can fail, and space travelers must solve problems by themselves without the

When monkey socialization groups gets over the average number of members, the group falls apart
and splits into two smaller groups. Similarly, humans are known to behave in the same manner, with
the usual social group averaging no more than 150 members. Man is a social creature, and the
feeling of loneliness can drive him mad; however, in modern culture, individuality is pursued.
Personal achievements, such as personal wealth, self–image, and consumerism are viewed as self–
actualization and individuality from others. In addition, whereas working on self–improvement is
not a negative concept, spending too much time and focusing too much effort into self–actualization
can lead to negative outcomes. For example, when the goal of self–actualization becomes more
important than socialization, the results are the loss in connection with others. More and more
people today are defining themselves as lonely, recognized as the most common ailment of the

A similar study by Accenture/Economist Intelligence Unit reported a significant gap between
potential and actual practice.3 These indications of a slowing pace of management accounting
change may be due to a range of factors. In some cases, new management accounting tools aren't
adapted to organizational strategy or structure and can't be used. And in some cases, innovation has
failed due to implementation–related factors. However, the main problems aren't technical or
structural; they lie in the need for a better management of the management accounting process itself.
Getting involved At the heart of the management accounting process is a communications system, or
a set of communications systems, that provide information to managers. The ability of management
accountants to improve the scope, timeliness or quality of the information they provide depends on
how well they understand and manage these systems. There are three main areas in management
accounting systems in which communication problems can occur, which are illustrated here using
the tale of The Three Monkeys. The three monkeys that most people know are Speak No Evil, Hear

Chimpanzee And Bonobo Research Paper
The hypotheses presented by Alexandra Rosati is backed up by data gathered by her team at Harvard
University. The cognitive skills of our ancestors, that being chimpanzees and bonobos, were
investigated through series of experiments, primarily on how they think about the future. The results
show that bonobos are the least patient, unable to wait longer periods of time for a larger award. In
contrast, humans, even more than chimpanzees, had the largest amount of patience, being able to
endure longer periods of wait time for a larger reward. More significantly, one of the very few things
that set us apart from our counterparts – cooking – is not so exclusive. Although chimpanzees
cannot cook food on their own, the study shows that chimpanzees have an understanding of what
cooking is. Also, chimpanzees have the cognitive skills necessary to prefer the cooked food when
given the chance. Due to the competitive nature of chimpanzees, however, it is proposed that it is
impossible for chimpanzees to have developed the social skills necessary to cook. ... Show more

However, when it comes to the way us humans think, there is a parallel between all three species.
Humans are the most evolved, and it is significant to see that our ancestors have striking similarities
to how our minds function. This observation supports the hypothesis that our evolution and the way
we think about everyday problems, is indeed rooted in our ancestors. Although there may have been
a few confounding variables within the experiments conducted by Alexandra Rosati and her team,
the results were

Observation of the Early Childhood Essay
Observation of the Early Childhood
An observation was held in the children'"s wing of Tarrant County Junior
College. A variety of children between the ages of two to six were observed in activities ranging
from physical and motor to social and cognitive development.
Specifically I mean that whether it was leadership skills or lack of, running, climbing and jumping,
drawing and writing, or anything that could fall between, it has been seen, done and accounted for in
the following observation. First let's start with the physical and motor development. Please say hello
to Karligh and Bethany, my first volunteers of the observation. Both girls are in the four–year olds.
The first activities under physical and motor
development ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This didn't always hold as true. As mentioned before, there were exceptions such as Karligh. Now
we're on to the second half of the observation, which involves social and cognitive development.
This section includes sociodramatic play, drawing pictures, counting and identifying leadership
skills or the lack of.
The first half of this section takes place in the kindergarten's room where all of the kids are five or
six years of age. The sociodramatic play I saw involved two kids (Matt and Tyler), three wooden
box–like objects and a board that was close to the size of a board seen on a seesaw. The three
wooden boxes are spaced about eight inches apart, side by side, with the board lying across all three
boxes. The board hangs past the boxes approximately three feet. So what do you have???? That's
right, a spaceship. No specific movies or TV shows are mentioned in this play. We simply have Matt
as the pilot and Tyler as the copilot as the two fly over the galaxy fighting other spaceships. Now the
children are landing the spaceship at an airport where Matt says he's going to work on it. The
children hop off the ship and shift the board and climb back on the ship to "go fight some other
guys." In the middle of a battle Miss Williams, the teacher, announces that it's cleanup time and she
pops the clean up song in the tape player. Without hesitation and in fact

Relationship With Simon
Have you ever been given the chance to time travel? Well I was so I opened the book and stepped
into the the world fabricated in the pages of the lord of the flies. When my teacher assigned the
novel to my class I couldn't help but think "great, another cutesy life lesson for the youth". However,
upon reading the first few chapters of this story I felt a spark and a gradually increasing connection
with Simon. Golding describes Simon as shy and the boys think he is crazy, but from the reader's
view we can see that him being crazy is simply not the case. I feel a relationship with Simon
because he is misunderstood, however he understands. Indeed I do compare myself to a timid,
observant little boy. I greatly empathize with Simon due to his characteristics of spectating and
speculating. Just as simon I also enjoy understanding situations and I am constantly deep in thought,
thus giving the impression that I am shy because I don't talk much. I don't normally express my
opinions because I feel that when I do people don't understand it themselves and may deem my
thoughts "crazy" as the boys due to simon. I also have an infatuation with sitting off to the side on
my own and separating myself from the world around me, such as Simon. Within the first pages of
the book you meet ralph. Ralph is described only as ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Readers in 1954 were distraught by the morbid realities brought to life in The Lord Of The Flies. In
2017, readers are desensitized to nearly everything. The youth of today is desensitized to the point
where they lack the ability to analyze and comprehend symbolic context. It is truly saddening to
realize that many young readers miss out on the experience of the book due to their inability to
understand more meaningful texts. Not only are they incapable of critical thinking, but most seem as

Pennebaker, follows the challenges that Steven Wise, a lawyer fighting for the rights of primates, and the Nonhuman Rights Project, a group fighting for the rights of animals, against the law. They find a bunch of primates who are locked up around the United States of America and sue for their legal freedom, by going from a thing to a legal person with legal protections. The furthest he has ever got to was with Hercules and Leo. In all cases, however, they lost because the judges could not see them as a legal person holding legal protections. The issue of the argument is should primates be considered a legal person and should be entitled to basic rights and protections? As it stands, primates do not have ... However, sanctuaries exist, such as the one in Florida, where primates from around the country goes to live a much better life rather than live a life in a small, isolated cage with no interaction. Steven Wise and the Nonhuman Rights Project wants to move primates into the sanctuaries so that they do not have to live in cages. Their claim is that primates are considered a legal person and are entitled to basic rights, such as those given to children. He states many reasons as to why they are considered a legal person and not a thing with no rights. One reason that he states is that primates are able to understand humans and can communicate with them. They have the capacity to understand humans along with communicating with them. The strength of this reason is that it shows that primates can communicate with humans and can learn from them since they can understand humans. The weakness of this reason is that any animal can understand humans and some animals can speak languages, closer than what primates can do. Analysis of Before the Rain Essay Analysis of Before the Rain Before the Rain, filmed on location in the Republic of Macedonia and in London is a trilogy that focuses on the conflict between Muslims and Orthodox Christians in the Balkans. The three chapters of the trilogy are " Words," " Faces" and " Pictures." Director Milcho Manchevski states; " Before the Rain, refers to the feeling of heavy expectation, when the skies are pregnant with the possibility of an outburst, when people are silent, waiting for a tragedy of cleansing"(1). The movie is a circle in itself, showing the reoccurring cycles of violence and hate. In the first chapter, "Words," the audience is introduced to Kirkil, a Macedonian Monk who has taken a vow of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... "The construction of Manchevski's story is intended to demonstrate the futility of ancient hatreds. There are a few moments in the film in which hatred of others is greater than love of one's own. Imagine a culture where a man would rather kill his daughter than allow her to love a man from another culture, and one will have an idea of the depth of bitterness in this film, the insane lengths to which men can be driven by belief and prejudice" ( Ebert 3). Mise–en–scene is a French term roughly translated as " what is put into the Scene." Before the Rain, uses examples of mise–en– scene through out the movie. Each of the three chapters is opened with a plane flying across a blue sky. The purpose to incorporate the plane in each part is used by Manchevski to show a sense of escape. In the third chapter, the plane Aleksander is on lands in Macedonia. This symbolizes Aleksander's desire to be "home," while the other citizens of Albania and Macedonia would rather escape by flying away. The deliberate use of the sky in each chapter of the movie is used by Manchevski to show " the heavy expectation... when the people are silent, waiting for a tragedy of cleansing"(Manchevski 1). Kirkil, Anne and Aleksander all are filmed vomiting, implying that the realization of violence amongst people is nauseating to them. • 7. Themes Of Monkey A Journey To The West Madelyne Marrone HH 361 Monkey: A Journey to the West Throughout Chinese history there has been three main religions or philosophies that were practiced by all within the empire. These include Taoism, Buddhism and Confucianism. Wu–Ch'Êng–Ên is able to depict all of these religions in his novel which is considered a traditional Chinese folk tale "A journey to the West" or also known as "Monkey." This folk novel depicts the main character Monkey and his journey through life and then later including that of a Buddhist monk Tripitaka, Pigsy and Sandy. In fact, there was nothing on the earth at all; just a barren wasteland. He wondered how to change this. First he decided to ask his mother Xea to plant many, many seeds. Then he asked the rain goddess Neke to create a powerful storm. It lasted three days and three nights. After, he asked Sanvi the sun god (and his father) to warm the earth. By the end, there were plants everywhere in all shapes, sizes and colours. It was a sea of jade green leaves, pastel blossoms and bright ripening fruit. Yet there was some–thing missing. "Creatures!" he thought. "We must create some!" All the gods went to work making life. Xea made antelope and giraffes and okapi to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Sanvi was furious; he made huge deserts with the sun's harsh heat. Neke cried so much her tears created expanses of sea and winding paths of rivers. He was taken to mountain – the tallest mountain around – and had to push it down. The top was so pointed that if he were distracted, even for a moment, he would be skewered. Permanently. It was precarious work. Sho managed to push it ever so slightly down each day, but during the night it would stubbornly rise back up. Mean–while the gods remade the world with all the plants and animals, but thought they should make something to keep it in check. First they made monkeys but they were too mischievous. Next they made primates, but they were too involved in themselves. Eventually they found the perfect combination of strength, wits and kindness to make the first men and women. Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi, also known as Mahatma Gandhi lived in Porbandar, a region of India that (at the time) was a part of the British Empire, now known as Gujarat. Growing up, Gandhi worshipped the Hindu god Vishnu. His belief of Jainism aimed to achieve the liberation of the soul, embracing non–violence, meditation and vegetarianism. He believed in Ahimsa meaning non–violence and equality. As a young child, Gandhi was considered being shy, timid and an unremarkable student. Aged 18, he sailed to England to study where he read a variety of sacred texts and learnt more about world religions. He later explains "if only we could, all of us, read the scriptures of the different Faiths from the stand–point of the followers of those faiths, we should find that they were at the bottom, all one and were all helpful to one another" he considered them a comfort and recommended everyone to read them at some point in time. Social and moral themes Community and environment Leadership, fairness and equality Respect for others 5. Why I chose this story I have selected an African folktale in order to teach about diversity and other cultures, and because that topic will give my students a universal foundation. In this sense, some students may be surprised that English is the dominant language in Liberia. They may be even more surprised to learn that Liberia was founded by Americans. Often, the stories have an important message about individuals' interdependence in a community, and how people should behave. The aim is to build a stronger rapport and sense of community in the classroom by engaging the children in group–work; the students have to discover the link between learning and social skills. They need to recognize that learning is an integral part of their lives. In the country of Liberia, people in some communities share stories with each other in a place called the palaver hut, a place also used for conflict resolutions: "the functional center of the tribal village is the palaver house. The chief and his elders convene at the palaver house almost daily and the tribesmen come to discuss and settle their numerous problems, differences, and claims" (Wilson, 1947, p. 69). The palaver hut is a safe, sacred space, where no violence is permitted. Because it is a circle, everyone seated there has equal rights, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 17. Cinderella And Cinderell The Story Of Cinderella Ah marriage! That one blissful day all young girls dream of, standing at the altar in a beautiful white dress, gazing into the dreamy eyes of her beloved and promising to be wed till "Death do them part." Reality soon sets in after that. Her Prince Charming is a real man! His feet stink, and he throws his dirty laundry on the floor. Was it not meant to be? How does Cinderella handle it? I talked with a young woman in my church that is still relatively a newlywed. Mrs. Jewel Ward was raised in church, has been married for a little over 2 years and is expecting their first child. She is the only young woman in our church who is married and I was interested to see how she dealt with "reality" once the honeymoon phase was over. Would marriage be full of struggles like the world likes to tell us, or would having a solid foundation in God strengthen the bond? Every girl plans out their life to some extent or another, and Mrs. Ward was no exception. Sitting in school, she thought of the future. "I want to get married halfway through college and be able to announce my first pregnancy on my graduation day." she decided. Check, and check! Her life is coming together the way she hoped. One thing though that she planned on did not come to pass; before her wedding day, she was preparing herself for the inevitable struggles that would come along with the wedded bliss. Many of those struggles that she was sure would come along never have. Why? Aren't young marriages bound to be full of ups ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The technique of "The Necklace" is represented by symbolism of the necklace. In "A Monkey's Paw," the technique that is seen is foreshadowing. In "The Gift of Magi," irony is the technique that is noticed throughout the story. All three short stories deal with the irony of consequence. Each story involved a major decision and in each case the result of the decision was incredibly unexpected. Through symbolism, foreshadowing, and irony the authors conclude that what's inside the heart is far more important than material wealth. In "The Gift of Magi," Della and Jim sacrifice their prized possessions for each other and for love. Irony is represented in this story when Della and Jim both get each other gifts that mean a lot to each other. However, what they did not realize is that when Della cut her hair to to buy Jim a chain for his watch, she was unaware that Jim was going to sell his watch to buy her combs for her hair. The irony of their gift exchange is monumental as their unconditional love for one another took over for their own personal possession. Jim exclaims, "I don't think there's anything in the way of a haircut or a shave or a shampoo that could make me like my girl any less. But if you'll unwrap that package you may see why you had me going a while at first." The magi which are described as wise men also signifies irony because Della and Jim's presents were more than wise. They represented that a gift does not need to be expensive to have value. A gift can be more meaningful just by the thought. "The Monkey's Paw," deals with a family's unwillingness to accept things as they should be. They desired more and paid the dire ... While their founders exhibit significant differences in when they began their existence in the world, their teachings hugely resemble each other. Gautama Buddha was reported to have lived about 600 or 500 before Christ was born. Buddha was born in Nepal, India while Jesus was born in Bethlehem, which is currently located in Palestine. Both Jesus and Buddha espoused altruism and always insisted in service of others. They emphasized the need for giving than receiving and both believed in love as the only tool of defeating hatred. Both teachings contained the need not to judge others. A key difference between the two was how Buddha taught followers to lose one's self to receive Nirvana while Jesus encouraged his people to lose one's self in order to receive an everlasting life (Talim, Jeffrey & Anant, 67). This assignment attempts to highlight the similarity between Jesus's Sermon on the Mount and Gautama Buddha's Jataka Tales. • 23. Analysis Of Las Cuatro Gibbis Sabias Liz Volpi created her lithography printmaking painting Las Cuatro Gibbis Sabias made with Senefelder black ink on archival paper. The Spanish title means "together at last" in English. The painting's subject is an animated character named "Gibbi" repeated four times in four images illustrating three popular actions of the "Three Wise Monkeys" symbol: "see no evil", "hear no evil", "speak no evil", and the fourth one is the creativity of the artist – "do no evil". Each action is a rectangle with different gestures of the subject. The artwork was presented in an exhibition at Brookhaven College Gallery (F Building) in November, 2017 and belongs to Liz Volpi under David Newman's instruction. The work is a representation of the gestures of "Three Wise Monkeys" symbol from Japan as God's advice to "see no evil, hear no evil, speak no evil" and usually come with "do no evil". Four parts of the painting are centered on the subject with two–thirds in space, so there is a small amount of unused space on the top of each part for the background. Liz Volpi uses only black and white in her work with contrast between the subject and background. The color value changes from rectangle to rectangle. If the Gibbi is painted black, the background is lighter with grey or white and vice versa, which creates contrast and highlights the actions of the subject. The subject in top left and bottom right images is painted in darker value than the background and the subject in bottom left and top right is painted in lighter value than the background. Volpi uses broken thin lines to direct viewers' eyes into the character. The broken lines are the skin's type of Gibbi as description of a different kind of species. The repetition of the painting's subject – Gibbi provides a sense of unity while the different actions of the subject between the four images offer variety. This variety moves the viewers' eye around the painting. In each image, the viewers' attention is centered on the various actions of the subject's hands and the gestures of the subject's face to express the meaning of each phrase written on the top of each rectangle. The first image on top left represents "speak no evil" with Gibbi's hands covering her mouth. "See no evil" ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

For instance, in one episode, the Eds attempted to execute a scam involving frogs ("Thick as an Ed"). Similarly, the girls once saved a squirrel from an eagle ("Stray Bullet"). The Woman Warrior By Maxine Hong Kingston Essay Hathman 1 Rachele Hathman Professor Richard Potter ENC 1939 16 November 2016 The Woman Warrior Language is a system of communication used by humans either written or spoken to communicate our thoughts and feelings. Our thoughts and feelings we want to communicate to our loved ones, to our friends, to people we work with or go to school with and even to strangers. Maxine Hong Kingston in her memoir The Woman Warrior explores language and the use of language to express what Kingston finds as several conflicts. The conflict of the immigrant experience and the conflict of having to be a Chinese– American woman along with the expectation of being "silent". Maxine Hong Kingston provides a remarkable memoir that blends Chinese folktales and personal narratives. Much throughout her memoir Kingston, tells narratives of "talk– stories", which are stories blended of her family stories and cultural myths that she has heard. For example the story of Kingston's un– named, "no named" aunt. The only knowledge Kingston has of her aunt are the hushed stories her mother tells, the rest Kingston spins with what she may have thought is what had happened. In this sense Kingston' is an unreliable narrator, leaving readers to question which parts of what Kingston is saying is actually true and which parts are pieces of her imagination. Kingston 's unreliableness as a narrator could also be symbolic of stories told in history. Many times we hear stories of events that may have happened, but we ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

He is changing himself just to get a girl by changing his hair and adopting a new way of life. A wise one says "It's easy to become anything you wish . . . so long as you're willing to forfeit your soul." Another example of this would be during the story would be at the end of the story when the monkey king has a meeting with Jin and he says "You know, Jin, I would have saved myself from five hundred years' imprisonment beneath a mountain of rock had I only realized how good it is to be a monkey." The Monkey King revealed his true form (from chinkee to Monkey King) he came here to tell Jin that he was changing himself to achieve and get something to but then he realized that it's better to be who you are and not want to change yourself for something. In Ray Russell's story, Sardonicus, the main conflict is love between two individuals, as well as love with oneself. Sardonicus, a protagonist, is at the center of this conflict; he loved his wife, Maude, as seen when he says "you perhaps would say I fell in love with her" (Baldick 456), and put the love for himself over his love for her. In this story, many different medical terms are mentioned, such as anemia and malaria, and how they affected characters in the story. The protagonist, Congo Bill, experienced multiple known symptoms of malaria, such as "weakness, vomiting, cough, diarrhea" (WHO 149). Also, his pale figure is also scientifically proven; pale skin is due to low oxygen levels in the body caused by the malaria (EB Medicine 4). However, the anemic characters in the story, like Kevin Pander and the others at the Blue Bat Inn, displayed some uncharacteristic vampire–like behaviors. As mentioned by Ronald Dexter, an individual in the story, "I shall be set upon by vampires" (Baldick 504). This foreshadows what is to come as vampires tend to kill their victims by sucking out their blood. Also, in connection to the vampire theme, the author chose to name the motel Blue Bat inn, where bats are a symbol for vampires. Ronald refers to them as vampires due to their disease, anemia. Anemics have a low red blood cell count, which causes them to get weaker. Their craving for fresh blood is explained by their vampirism: in order to stay alive, they need to consume fresh blood. However, drinking blood has no scientific evidence of it being a cure or a remedy(Robson). On the contrary, if blood is ingested, just as any other liquid, it will be digested. Thus, this incites a scientific phenomenon that cannot be explained. The lingering mystery lies in how these individuals remain alive after more than 5 years of taking in blood in an unscientific manner. Moreover, the mystery of the monkey also remains unexplainable. While reading, we assume that the flea that jumped from the monkey to Frank transported malaria and left its host after its death from said disease. Hiv Virus Research Paper The worst viruses in the world seem to appear out of nowhere and spread like wildfire, infecting hundreds of thousands of people before researchers can even get a toehold on what it is that is killing people. Viruses are not alive, but saying they are makes it seem like it is possible to stop them. They do not rely on any energy or food source, and only need living cells to thrive and reproduce, therefore anything that can kill a virus also has to kill the host, which is what makes them frightening. After further research, they found that the chimps ate two smaller species of monkeys that had two different strains of SIV, allowing the virus to transmit into the chimps. Because the smaller monkeys were infected with two different strains of SIV, it was inevitable that the chimps would be infected with both kinds, and in some cases even developed mutated versions of the two combined. When these strains mutated, they became capable to infect humans, and this mutation became known as HIV. Humans in the area that the infected chimps lived in hunted the chimps for food, and so HIV was brought into the human population. In most cases, the infected human's immune system fought off HIV, but sometimes it stayed and became a parasite in the new host, making this host HIV–1. More than one HIV–1 people exist because more than one person contracted it from the monkeys, and so the strain in each HIV–1 was different. HIV is classified into four substrains; M, N, O, and P. • 42. Summary Of The Fourth Of July By Audre Lorde Fourth Of July The famous Japanese proverb and image of the three wise monkeys "see no evil, hear no evil, speak no evil" is interpreted in the Western world as a refusal to acknowledge the evil that occurs around us. In the autobiography, The Fourth of July, by Audre Lorde, she describes an event in her life in which she experienced racism. Lorde's parents made sure their kids were sheltered from the racism going on in the world and kept them from seeing it. Audre Lorde encounters racism even though her parents tried to hide it from her, which shows how being sheltered from issues in the world can cause greater problems when they are faced. In the beginning, Lorde's parents attempt to hide the racism that exists in America by making up excuses. For example, Lorde reflects on what her mother said to her when she wanted to eat in the dining car, "I wanted to eat in the dining car because I had read all about them, but my mother reminded me for the umpteenth time that dining car food always cost too much money . . . My mother never mentioned that black people were not allowed into railroad dining cars headed south in 1947" (240). When Lorde says that her mother reminded her for the umpteenth time, it demonstrates a hyperbole because it's an over exaggeration for the sake of emphasizing that her mother has reminded her many times. Lorde's parents try to protect her from the racism by pretending it doesn't exist, which might be good in the present moment, but when faced with ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Another story that has monkey as its character is "Journey to the West". The character is a monkey, which is also named Monkey. Same with Lutung, Monkey in this story goes to a place which is not his origin place. Monkey is also shown to be a good leader in his society. Lutung is also a good leader for all other animals and pohaci in the forest where Purbasari is exiled. The major different between these two characters, Hanuman and Monkey, with Lutung is their behavior. Most movies have the common background, and similar heroic endings, through the story is usually different from one another. The movie I will be analyzing is The Lion King. It is not the traditional superhero movie, but it has the same common principles. There were many universal themes embedded in this movie to help us connect more with the movie. Seger mentions in paragraph 13, "many times...the hero doesn't want to leave," and this is true. Simba, in The Lion King, did not want to leave but he felt his father, Mufasa, death was because of him. Simba lost himself and literally almost died from running away until he got help from some unusual creatures. This is another point Seger mentions in paragraph 14, "the hero usually receives help, and the help often comes from unusual sources." Without the help from Pumba and Timon, Simba realistically would have died whether from starvation or depression. These creatures taught him, Hakuna Matata, which taught Simba not to worry about things he could not fix. Thus, they helped him, in a way, get away from his past life and pain. ... • 59. Knowing From Whence Someone Or Something Came Knowing from whence someone or something came is very important. It is important because the origin of a person or thing provides a steady foundation for what is to come later on. The foundation can be a good one or a bad one. If the foundation is good, the end product usually is a good one. If the foundation is bad, it may explain the cracks or weaknesses in the finished product. This is why the origin of all things is so important. The one thing that most religions have in come is that they all center on the start of the religion. There are celebrations and festivals honor the founding and or founder of a religion. There are also re–enactments of the first time that a particular ritual was performed. There are also rituals performed in celebration of the first time a deity performed acts of kindness or mercy. Various religions also share the belief that humans did not create themselves or anything in this world. It is all a result of divine intervention. Out of all the religions that we have studied this term, only three either partially believes or disbelieve entirely in the idea of any form of deity as being the creator of all things. Jainist and Buddhists do not accept the idea that there is a God, nor do they believe that any sort of spiritual being was responsible for the creation of the world. And in some cases, innovation has failed due to implementation–related factors. The cognitive skills of our ancestors, that being chimpanzees and bonobos, were investigated through series of experiments, primarily on how they think about the future. The results show that bonobos are the least patient, unable to wait longer periods of time for a larger award. In contrast, humans, even more than chimpanzees, had the largest amount of patience, being able to endure longer periods of wait time for a larger reward. More significantly, one of the very few things that set us apart from our counterparts – cooking – is not so exclusive. Although chimpanzees cannot cook food on their own, the study shows that chimpanzees have an understanding of what cooking is.
