The fall 2014 update from the Frank G. A Message From the Dean
A Message From the Dean
The Zarb School’s commitment to educating students for personal
and professional achievement has never been stronger. This past
spring semester, we developed experiential learning opportunities
for our students, organizing over 47 events, including a trip to the
United Nations and Google headquarters. A conference titled
Prospects of Real Estate and Alternative Investments for 2014 and
Beyond, organized by The Institute of Real Estate and the Zarb
School’s Center for International Financial Services and Markets,
offered a global perspective on investment opportunities. Alumni
also initiated the formation of the Goldman Sachs Company
Team to increase career preparation, networking and employment
opportunities for Zarb students. In addition, presentations by
successful alumni continue to enrich the student experience.
Speakers who visited Zarb during the past semester included
Douglas Maine (MBA, ’78), senior advisor at Brown Brothers
Harriman; Donna Iucolano (BA, ’86; MSEd, ’89; MBA, ’94),
principal, Spinach Candy, LLC; David A. Ross (BBA, ’91),
global head of marketing, Viteos Capital Market Services; and
Steven R. Meier (BBA, ’84), EVP and CIO, global fixed income,
currency and cash, State Street Global Advisors.
A new Zarb MBA in Manhattan began this fall. Located at
the Manhattan Eye, Ear & Throat Hospital, this program will
offer ease of accessibility to working professionals in New York
City. The curriculum combines on-site and online classes and the
ability to complete the degree requirements in just 28 months.
Our students continue to excel at national competitions. This past
spring, Hofstra University’s American Marketing Association
was named among the top 25 chapters in the nation, and Beta
Alpha Psi won second place at the Atlantic Coast Regional
Meeting. Additionally, three Zarb students finished in the top
100 at the Institutional Investor Alpha Seal Competition, while
Dr. Vishnoo Kothapeta, a Zarb graduate student, was awarded
Best Research Presentation at the Northeast Decision Sciences
Institute Conference.
Zarb faculty made strides in their mentoring, teaching and research
endeavors. Dr. Carole Jurkiewicz was named editor-in-chief of
the American Society for Public Administration’s journal Public
Integrity. Professors Victor Lopez and Eugene T. Maccarrone
received the Best Paper of the Conference Award at the North East
Academy of Legal Studies in Business Conference, while
Professors Robert Katz and Neil Katz received an Appreciation
Award from the Nassau Chapter of the New York State Society
of Certified Public Accountants in recognition of their dedication
to the chapter.
The Zarb School of Business continues to be recognized for
its strong programs and favorable outcomes. Zarb ranks 10th
on Payscale.com’s Best Schools by Salary Potential for Business
Majors. Hofstra is the only university in New York State to make
the top 10. Zarb also received the Export Achievement Award by
the United States Department of Commerce in May in recognition
of the school’s contribution to international trade and promotion in
the education sector.
Looking forward, we will kick off the fall semester with a
conference titled Compliance and a Culture of Integrity, which
will feature leading academics and industry professionals who
will offer insight on this critical topic.
It is our foremost priority to continue the development of innovative

Receives Export Achievement Award
from the United States Department
of Commerce
The Frank G. Zarb Business School received the Export Achievement Award from
the United States Department of Commerce at the 2014 World Trade Week Awards
Breakfast in New York City in May. The Zarb School was recognized for its
outstanding contribution to international trade and promotion in the education
sector as a result of the school’s participation in the U.S. Commercial Service
Educational Trade Mission to Brazil in 2013. Associate Dean Gioia Bales attended
the trade mission, which resulted in the enrollment of several students from Brazil.
The Zarb School continues to work in partnership with the Long Island U.S.
Export Assistance Center to further recruitment efforts
in Asia, the Americas, Europe and Africa.
Zarb Among Top 10 in the
Nation for Undergraduate
Business Majors by Earnings
The Frank G. Zarb School of Business is among the top 10
in the nation for undergraduate business majors based on
the mid-career salary of its graduates, according to the 2014-15
Payscale.com College Salary Report.
Zarb ranks 10th on Payscale.com’s Best Schools by Salary
Potential for Business Majors, ahead of Cornell, New York,
George Washington, Syracuse, Pace and Rutgers universities.
Hofstra is the only university in New York State to make the
top 10.
Mid-career salary for Zarb School undergraduate business
alumni is $116,500, according to the report.
For members of the Zarb School’s Class of 2012-13 who
graduated with a bachelor’s degree, 96 percent reported being
employed or in graduate school, according to the latest career
outcome report. More than half of those who reported being
employed accepted their jobs before graduation.
The Zarb School was also ranked among
the Top 10 Business Schools in New York
by FIND MBA, which factors in geography,
cost, employment data and rankings among
other criteria. LinkedIn also ranked Hofstra
second overall for media professionals
based on the career paths of its graduates,
including Zarb alumni.

Trading Room Simulation With Rotterdam
School of Management Students
Graduate students from the Zarb School of Business
competed with students from three countries –
Curaçao, Lebanon and Mexico – in a simulated trading
competition held at the Zarb School’s Martin B.
Greenberg Trading Room. The students enrolled at
Erasmus University’s Rotterdam School of Management’s
Financial Executive Management Program visited New
York for the competition. Organized by Oxyor, a
Netherlands-based company offering executive training
sessions to the financial services industry, the event
began with an introduction to market trading and
analysis, followed by the competition.

The Frank G. Zarb School of Business
is now offering an MBA in the heart of
the city. Located at the Manhattan Eye,
Ear & Throat Hospital on East 64th Street
between 2nd and 3rd Avenue, this
program is a convenient option for
working professionals in New York City.

management and strategic healthcare

Second Cohort Graduates
From Online MBA Program
In May, the second cohort in the Online MBA Program graduated; 17 students completed the
program in two years. At a special dinner for graduates, awards were presented to Wendy
Darwell and Eric Bates for High Academic Achievement, and to Dr. Anoop Rai for Best Teacher.
Within the graduating class was Kathryn Kaminski, daughter of Elaine Lilli, who also graduated from
Hofstra with a Master of Science in secondary education. “I feel very blessed to have a mother who
has always placed such a high value on education serving as an inspiration to me,” Kathryn said.
“This is a remarkable achievement for the students, and it showed the dedication and effort they have
demonstrated throughout the last couple of years. We wish them well in their career prospects and other
endeavors and welcome them as part of the alumni family,” stated Dr. Kaushik Sengupta, director of the
Online MBA Program and chair, Department of Management and Entrepreneurship.

Mastering the
Art of Business
Presentations
Mastering the Art of Business Presentations
is a hands-on, interactive workshop taught
by Professor Marc Kopman, former vice
president of learning and development at
Time Warner Cable in New York City. The
curriculum focuses on effective individual
and group presentation techniques as well
as the facilitation skills required for leading
a discussion. This workshop is required for
all MBA students.
Students practice their skills during
videotaped presentations and are given
immediate feedback from their colleagues
and instructor. After the workshop, each
student reviews his or her video during a
one-on-one coaching session. “Professor
Kopman is a great role model and expert
at presenting. I have learned so much
that I can apply both inside
and outside the classroom,” stated Zarb
graduate student Brendan Gorey.

Prospects of Real Estate and Alternative
Investments for 2014 and Beyond, presented
by The Institute of Real Estate, Frank G. Zarb
School of Business, and Center for International
Financial Services and Markets, examined the trends
and issues of investing in real estate and alternative
investments.
Conference co-directors Dr. Ehsan Nikbakht and
Dr. Andrew Spieler, Zarb professors of finance,
coordinated a team of experts, including keynote
speakers Matthew Moran, vice president of the
Chicago Board Options Exchange, and Randy
Anderson, Griffin Capital’s chief economist, editor

and former Howard Phillips Eminent Scholar

Dean’s Business Scholars
Visit Google and United Nations
Headquarters
Dean’s Business Scholars, along with Zarb student leaders,
visited Google headquarters in New York City this past March.
After touring the facility, students met with several Google
employees and discussed their career journeys. They also
discussed current online industry trends in addition to qualities
of successful employment candidates.
Students also visited United Nations headquarters, where they toured
the facility and learned about issues facing the organization today.
Following the tour, two special briefings were held for Zarb students on
legal affairs in business and Global Compact, the United Nations’ social
responsibility initiative.
75 Undergraduate and
Graduate Students Complete
Bloomberg Essentials Program
The Finance Department offers Zarb students the opportunity to
obtain Bloomberg Essentials Program (BESS) designation by
completing a self-study in the Martin B. Greenberg Trading Room, one
of the largest academic trading rooms in the country. For the last 10
years, students have been trained in this state-of-the-art facility, which is
equipped with 34 Bloomberg Professional terminals. During the 2013-
2014 academic year, a record number of 75 undergraduate and
graduate students completed the Bloomberg workshops.
Upon completion of the program, students visit
Bloomberg headquarters in New York City for a tour
of the facility. Bloomberg staff also recognized
students’ BESS designations during a special ceremony
officiated by Alexandra Huber, global head of training
for sales and analytics at Bloomberg. “I have been
organizing these ceremony visits for the last 10 years
and know first-hand that visiting Bloomberg and
receiving their BESS designations from Bloomberg
staff is one of the most memorable highlights of their
Zarb experience,” stated Dr. Ahmet Karagozoglu,
academic director of the Martin B. Greenberg

Zarb Highlights
At the 2014 Student Leadership Awards and
Alumni Volunteer Celebration, Zarb
students, alumni, faculty and staff joined to
celebrate the end of the spring semester. For the
second year, Reginald Andre, Zarb Alumni
Association former past president, sponsored the
Reginald Andre ’04 Endowed Award for Zarb
Student Activities. This prize is awarded to fund a
new program, event or initiative not currently
offered through a student organization or the Zarb
School. This year’s award was presented to Alpha
Kappa Psi. The professional business fraternity will
create an event planning handbook that all Zarb
student organizations will utilize.
In addition, Dean Patrick Socci also presented the
2013-2014 Dean’s Awards for Outstanding Zarb
Student Organizations. At the undergraduate level,
the Hofstra American Marketing Association
(HAMA) won this honor. This past semester,
HAMA participated in the American Marketing
Association’s 36th Annual International Collegiate
Conference in New Orleans and received six awards,
including Top 25 Chapter Status. At the graduate
level, the Zarb Human Resource Management
Association was honored. The organization’s efforts
at events such as the conferences of the Society of
Human Resources Management as well the National
Association of Mothers’ Centers’ annual
Work-Life Balance Conference have been
instrumental in exposing students to various
human resource career paths.
Dean Socci also thanked alumni volunteers
who have generously donated their time
throughout the year. “Our strong Zarb alumni
network would not be where it is without your
efforts, and I personally thank you for all that
you have contributed on behalf of our
students and the Zarb School.”

2014 Chapter Honoree. Mr. Roman has more than 30 years of experience in the mechanical
construction industry and is currently CEO of WDF Inc. The 2014 Faculty Inductee Award was given
to Dr. Laura Lally, associate professor of information systems and business analytics. Dr. Lally has
been part of the Zarb family for over 25 years and has been instrumental in the development of the

Dr. John Affisco, Dr. Javad Paknejad and
Dr. Farrokh Nasri Win Best Paper Award for
Contribution to Theory
Professors of Information Systems and Business Analytics Dr. John
Affisco, Dr. Javad Paknejad and Dr. Farrokh Nasri won the Best Paper
Award for Contribution to Theory for their publication titled “Analysis
of Vendor Environmental Costs in the JELS Model with Sustainability”
at the 2014 Northeast Decision Sciences Institute Conference.
Dr. Barry Berman Receives American Collegiate
Retailing Association’s Hall of Fame Award
Dr. Barry Berman, the Walter H. “Bud” Miller Distinguished Professor of Business and
EMBA program director, received the American Collegiate Retailing Association’s (ACRA)
Hall of Fame Award at the organization’s spring 2014 meeting in Dallas, Texas. ACRA is
the global professional association of faculty who teach and conduct research in retailing and
related areas. Dr. Berman was vice president of ACRA from 2010 to 2012, and president from
2012 to 2014. Dr. Berman is the ninth Hall of Fame inductee in the organization’s 65 years.
Dr. Debra Comer Selected as Co-Editor for Special Issue of the
Journal of Business Ethics and Associate Editor for the Journal of
Management Education
Dr. Debra Comer, professor of management and entrepreneurship, was selected as co-editor
for a special issue of the Journal of Business Ethics on positive organizational ethics.
Additionally, along with her co-editors, she wrote the editorial for this issue. Dr. Comer was
also appointed as associate editor for the Journal of Management Education where she
previously served in this capacity from 2010 to 2012.
Dr. Dominique Gehy Awarded the 2014 Dean’s Research Award
Dr. Dominique Gehy, assistant professor of finance, was awarded the 2014 Dean’s Research
Award for her publication titled “Changing the Rules Again: Short Selling in Connection
With Public Equity Offers.” This article was published in the Journal of Banking and
Finance and studies the impact of two recent regulations that impose restrictions on short
selling. The results of the study imply that recent restrictions on short selling have significant
unintended effects on the capital raising process.

service. Through a
highly competitive
process overseen by the American Association of
Public Administration’s Section on Ethics’
Executive Committee, Dr. Jurkiewicz was
selected from among a group of top scholars
around the world for this key role. She is the first
woman to be named editor-in-chief.
As editor-in-chief, Dr. Jurkiewicz aims to further
the understanding of ethics in the public sector
as well the intersection of public, private, and
nonprofit organizations.
Dr. Jurkiewicz recently presented two papers at
the American Society for Public Administration’s
annual conference: “The Scope of Ethics and
Integrity Research: Past, Present, Future” and
“Show and Tell: The Military’s Response to
an Open LGBT Armed Forces.” She also served
as the moderator for the ASPA panel “Tactics,
Trends, and Perspectives in Public Sector

Professor Glen Vogel, assistant professor of accounting, taxation, and legal studies in
business, published “A Review of the International Bar Association and LexisNexis
Technology Studies and the American Bar Association’s Commission on Ethics 20/20:
The Legal Profession’s Response to the Issues Associated With the Generational Gap
in Using Technology and Internet Social Media” in Alabama Law School’s Journal of the Legal Profession.
Also, his article titled “English Language & Cultural Challenges Facing Business Faculty in the Ever-Expanding
Global Classroom” was published in the Journal of Instructional Pedagogies. Professor Vogel was also
appointed as the academic advisor to the Zarb School of Business’ chapter of the international business honor
society Beta Gamma Sigma, which received exemplary status for the 2013-2014 academic year.
Professor Linda Schain Named Regional Chapter
Advocate for the Atlantic Coast Region of Beta Alpha Psi
Linda Schain, department administrator and adjunct assistant professor of accounting,
taxation, and legal studies in business, was named regional chapter advocate for
the Atlantic Coast Region of Beta Alpha Psi. In this role, she will coordinate regional
meetings and serves as the voice of the chapters.
Dr. Elaine Sherman Awarded 2014 Dean’s Service Award
Dr. Elaine Sherman, professor of marketing and international business, was awarded the
2014 Dean’s Service Award, after dedicating over 35 years to the Frank G. Zarb School
of Business. Dr. Sherman has been instrumental in several initiatives at Hofstra,
including involvement in the initial stages of designing a master’s program in
gerontology, planning the creation of our Business Development Center and initiating
a News12/Hofstra University Public Opinion Polling Program, which is currently
celebrating its 25-year anniversary. Dr. Sherman is currently a senior editor of the
Journal of Political Marketing and on the editorial review board of six scholarly journals.
Dr. Elizabeth Venuti Named Zarb’s 2014 Teacher of the Year
Dr. Elizabeth Venuti, associate professor and chair of the Department of Accounting,
Taxation, and Legal Studies in Business, was named Zarb’s 2014 Teacher of the Year.
Dr. Venuti has a notable record of teaching and service to Hofstra University. She

HAMA members at American
Marketing Association national collegiate
conference in New Orleans.
HAMA Marketing Club Named Top 25 in Nation
The Hofstra University chapter of the American Marketing Association (HAMA) took home six top
awards at the 2014 American Marketing Association national collegiate conference in New Orleans,
including being named one of the top 25 best-performing chapters in North America. HAMA is the
largest preprofessional organization at Hofstra.
Besides the top 25 award, HAMA took home the following honors: Outstanding Professional
Development, Outstanding Chapter Planning, Outstanding Chapter Communications, Honorable
Mention for Marketing Week activities, and Honorable Mention for the Case Competition.

ACG New York Cup
Competition
Zarb students competed in the annual ACG
New York Cup competition, a two-round
contest designed to provide real-world
experience for students in leading metropolitan
New York graduate business programs. This
year’s competition attracted over 150 students
in 41 teams from seven schools.
The competition requires student teams to
analyze and offer advice in connection with
a merger and acquisition transaction. Teams
are judged on three criteria — valuation,
alternative deal structures considered, and
presentation. This year’s case called for teams
to provide financial advice as investment
bankers to a panel of seasoned merger and
acquisition professionals, and role-play as the
board of directors of a hypothetical company
that has been approached with an offer from a
private equity firm.
Zarb Students Finish in the Top 100 at the
Institutional Investor Alpha Seal Competition
Zarb students Christopher Clarke, Christopher Barnes and Kunal Mehta finished in the top 100 at the
Institutional Investor Alpha Seal Competition. The competition included undergraduate and graduate
students from across the United States in the hunt for investment returns using a professional-style
trading engine. More than 2,100 students from 82 schools participated in the competition.

Institute Conference
Dr. Vishnoo Kothapeta, an MBA student with
a dual major in health services management
and information systems, was the winner of
the Best Research Presentation, Master’s
Level Student, at the Northeast Decision
Sciences Institute Conference in Philadelphia
in March. The paper identified the impact
of the Health Information Technology for
Economic and Clinical Health Act of 2009
on the information technology workforce.

Zarb’s Delta Pi Chapter Wins
KPMG Gold Challenge Competition
The Delta Pi Chapter of Beta Alpha Psi won the KPMG Gold Challenge Competition at the
2014 annual meeting in Atlanta, Georgia. Only 15 chapters are selected to win this prestigious award
from more than 300 Beta Alpha Psi international chapters. Led by Dr. Daniel Tinkelman, professor
of accounting, taxation, and legal studies in business and mentored by Linda Schain, department
administrator, adjunct assistant professor of accounting, taxation, and legal studies in business and
regional chapter advocate, the Delta Pi chapter has continuously enhanced both programming
and development, exceeding the requirements for Superior Chapter status.
Beta Alpha Psi Wins Second Place at
Atlantic Coast Regional Meeting
Three teams of students from Hofstra’s Delta Pi chapter made presentations at the Beta Alpha Psi
Atlantic Coast regional meeting in Hartford, Connecticut. Matthew Barry, Robert Serikstad, Daniel
Lewitt and Abdulla Tokie, led by faculty advisor Dr. Daniel Tinkelman, professor of accounting,
taxation, and legal studies in business, presented on the subject of collaboration and were awarded
second place, out of nine teams presenting.
In addition to competitive academic events, Beta Alpha Psi members regularly collaborate with
other schools and Hofstra organizations to give back to their community. Recently, they raised
money for the Special Olympics through the Polar Plunge, volunteered at the Special Olympics floor
hockey tournament, donated their time at a Long Island soup kitchen, and organized a business
fashion show at Hofstra.

Student Achievements
Online MBA and EMBA students traveled
to South Africa this summer for their
global practicum. The group was led by
Dr. Richard Hayes, Dr. Yong Zhang, Dr. Paul
Martorana and Dean Patrick Socci. Students
visited a number of companies in Cape Town and
Johannesburg, and met with top-level executives
such as the senior vice president of Philips and
CEO of Philips Africa, a multinational corporation
committed to
delivering
meaningful
innovations that
enhance the
lives of
Africans; the
head of human resources and marketing of Cape
Union Mart, a large upscale retail chain in South
Africa, and the founder of Waterford Wine Estate.
The group also met with the chief executive officer
of Yum Brands in Johannesburg, the largest food/
beverage producer in South Africa, and visited
Mediclinic South Africa, a major private hospital
network, where they attended presentations by its
chief financial officer and chief clinical officer. The
program culminated in an exciting two-day trip to
the Entabeni Game Reserve where they experienced
a traditional safari.
“The global practicum is an essential component of
the Online MBA Program. It serves to integrate a
practical experience-based component in the global,
strategic aspects covered in the program’s courses.
This practicum provides the necessary cultural and
corporate immersion that is so essential to an MBA
education today,” commented Dr. Kaushik Sengupta,
director of the Online MBA Program and chair,
Department of Management and Entrepreneurship.
For EMBA students, the trip is preceded by a
team-taught, six-credit international practicum class
covering important concepts in international
business, with a focus on the country visited.
Students view the trip as one of the highlights of the
program, as it illustrates current business practices
as well as cultural differences among countries.
According to Barry Berman, EMBA director
and the Walter H. “Bud” Miller Distinguished
Professor of Business, “The trip is designed to
contrast the business environment either within or
between countries. Previous trips have been so
successful that past graduates have chosen to attend
new trip destinations.”

Uniondale High School
As part of the Ladder to Leadership Program, a
collaborative mentoring initiative sponsored by
Flushing Bank that joins Zarb and Uniondale High School
students, over 70 Ladder to Leadership members
were invited to an etiquette breakfast at Hofstra
hosted by Linda J. Williams, founder of Protocol,
Etiquette, and Civility Experts Co. During this
workshop, Uniondale students and Zarb mentors
practiced proper dining techniques. All students
were given a copy of the book Lean In by
Sheryl Sandberg, which encourages women to
believe in themselves and never give up on the
pursuit of their dreams.
In collaboration with World Trade Week,
the Zarb School and U.S. Department of
Commerce’s Long Island Export Assistance
Center hosted “Entrepreneurship in Africa.”
This event featured speakers both near and
far. Dr. Richard Hayes, associate professor
of management and entrepreneurship, and
Michael Sudarkasa, CEO, Africa Business
Group, spoke live from South Africa about
the local business model canvas and key
markets to pursue. Radia Funna, founder
and chief blazer of Build n Blaze, continued
the discussion, speaking about branding
positioning in new markets. Finally, Susan
Sadocha, international trade specialist
from the Long Island U.S. Export
Assistance Center, described available
exporting resources.

Zarb Dean’s Business Scholars
Sponsored by BDO, Douglas Maine, Zarb alumnus (MBA, ’78) and senior advisor at
Brown Brothers Harriman (former chief financial officer at IBM), spoke to Dean’s
Business Scholars at a special dinner at Morton’s Steakhouse. He discussed his career
journey, in addition to what he valued most in his Hofstra education. Students had the
opportunity to speak one on one with Mr. Maine and received valuable advice from
this industry expert. Mr. Maine has been a longtime supporter of the Zarb School,
assisting in curriculum development and frequently speaking to accounting classes
throughout the semester.

David A. Ross (BBA, ’91), global head of marketing, Viteos Capital Market Services, presented “The Modern Hedge Fund:
How Customized Outsourced Shadow-Accounting Improves Scalability, Transparency and Differentiation.” During his 23 years
in marketing and communications, Mr. Ross gained industry experience at leading global financial firms and has a proven record
for creating and implementing transformational branding strategies. Prior to joining the fund administration sector, Mr. Ross
was senior vice president and head of global banking and markets marketing at HSBC. He held roles in institutional marketing at
T. Rowe Price and also served as a director overseeing institutional global fixed income, foreign exchange and emerging markets
equity research marketing at Merrill Lynch.

Speaks to Zarb MBA Students
Esther Fortunoff, a well-known and respected executive with
over 30 years in the jewelry industry and current president of
FortunoffJewelry.com, spoke to graduate students enrolled in
Dr. Anoop Rai’s MBA capstone course. Ms. Fortunoff discussed
marketing and the various ways to do outreach and branding
today, as compared to what was done in previous years. Students
commented that many longtime Fortunoff customers have
emotional ties to the Fortunoff brand and are still interested in
making fine jewelry purchases either at fortunoffjewelry.com or
at a future retail store.

For the past two academic years, Reginald
Andre (BBA, ’04) served as president
of the Zarb Alumni Association. Under
Mr. Andre’s leadership, the group increased
networking opportunities and the number of students
and alumni participating in the Zarb Career Series
– a program where alumni provide assistance to
students with resume preparation and interview
skills. He also helped create a company team
program, which brings together
alumni at large companies to
assist with recruitment,
fundraising, and networking
opportunities. The Zarb
School of Business and the
alumni community express
their heartfelt thanks to Mr. Andre for his dedicated
service to the Zarb Alumni Association.
Kathleen Stanley (BBA, ’91) is the new president of
the Zarb Alumni Association. Ms. Stanley has been
a member of the Executive Council of the Hofstra
Alumni Organization, where she served two terms
as parliamentarian/historian and previously served
as co-chair of the Communications and Marketing
Committee. She is also a member of Hofstra
University’s Women in Leadership Initiative.
As senior vice president for Capital One Bank,
Ms. Stanley directs the sales and implementation of
treasury management solutions for commercial bank
clients in the northeastern United States. She has
spent more than 15 years in the financial services
industry – as a customer service representative,
assistant branch manager, branch manager, and vice
president in charge of branch administration.
The Zarb Alumni Association works tirelessly to
strengthen the alumni network. During the spring
semester, the organization hosted its eighth semiannual
Career Series, which is aimed at strengthening
the career preparedness of current students. During
the 2013-2014 academic year, the Zarb Alumni
Association helped over 100 students improve their
chances of landing the job of their dreams.
Through the association’s involvement with
The Career Center and Graduate Business Career
Services, alumni participated in many panels
such as “What Is Business Communication?”
– a discussion with students about the do’s and don’ts
of communication in the workplace.
The Zarb Alumni Association also hosts numerous
alumni networking events throughout the year, both
on Long Island and in Manhattan. This past spring,
networking nights were held as Seasons 52 in Garden
City and Pranna in Midtown Manhattan.
