This document proposes a 3-year, $3.65 million project called Yurth to connect moderate Islamic youth globally using social media and video messaging. It would minimize text and maximize video to overcome language barriers. The project aims to provide a safe online forum to de-isolate and positively influence at-risk youth. It is presented by Fast Paced Operation, a film and media company, and would adapt their existing Yurth video platform for this purpose.

wow this is very old from 2005 when lotv had just been born. I came up with the idea in 2004 and registered in Oct of 04 with the state of Texas as a NPO.
In 2005 I went for IRS 501c3 status which took 2 yrs!
This session examines the multitude of disruptive technologies that are destroying some of our clients’ traditional business models while simultaneously creating great new opportunities for others. As a trusted advisor, you need to understand these threats, identify them, and be ready to help your clients not only survive, but thrive in the face of this upheaval. You’ll be amazed (and probably troubled) as we discuss today’s “buggy whip manufacturers”!
We’ve all been hearing about how robust the market for data center space is, but a presentation by an investment banker who has his finger on the pulse on the market day in and day out gave me a new appreciation for how great the opportunity really is.
Herb May is a partner and managing director with DH Capital, an investment bank founded 15 years ago in New York that is focused on the Internet infrastructure space. His company has been involved in close to 100 deals, representing almost $20 billion in value. Most of DH Capital’s work is as a mergers and acquisitions advisor, but raising capital is a growing percentage of its business. The point is, the company understands the financials behind data centers and colocation companies inside and out.

Observability Concepts EVERY Developer Should Know -- DeveloperWeek Europe.pdfPaige Cruz
Monitoring and observability aren’t traditionally found in software curriculums and many of us cobble this knowledge together from whatever vendor or ecosystem we were first introduced to and whatever is a part of your current company’s observability stack.
While the dev and ops silo continues to crumble….many organizations still relegate monitoring & observability as the purview of ops, infra and SRE teams. This is a mistake - achieving a highly observable system requires collaboration up and down the stack.
I, a former op, would like to extend an invitation to all application developers to join the observability party will share these foundational concepts to build on:
Epistemic Interaction - tuning interfaces to provide information for AI supportAlan Dix
Paper presented at SYNERGY workshop at AVI 2024, Genoa, Italy. 3rd June 2024
https://alandix.com/academic/papers/synergy2024-epistemic/
As machine learning integrates deeper into human-computer interactions, the concept of epistemic interaction emerges, aiming to refine these interactions to enhance system adaptability. This approach encourages minor, intentional adjustments in user behaviour to enrich the data available for system learning. This paper introduces epistemic interaction within the context of human-system communication, illustrating how deliberate interaction design can improve system understanding and adaptation. Through concrete examples, we demonstrate the potential of epistemic interaction to significantly advance human-computer interaction by leveraging intuitive human communication strategies to inform system design and functionality, offering a novel pathway for enriching user-system engagements.

Yurth White Label Proposal V1
1. Combatting
Islamo-Fascism:
A New Media
Approach
Leveraging Global Youth Culture
and Social Media Tools to
Connect to and De-Isolate
Moderate Islamic Youth
Concept Design and Development
and the Platform
Offered by Fast Paced Operation, LLC.
2. Project Proposed By
Fast Paced Operation
Founded in 2005, Fast Paced Operation is a film, television and
Web media production company.
Principals Rob Long and Timothy Fall have written and produced
numerous network television and film projects, and together
created Yurth (www.yurth.com) a video-enhanced Web
experience that employs an interactive map as a dashboard for
creating personal networks.
The Yurth trademark is registered globally.
Fast Paced Operation is a California LLC.
Amount Requested
$1,150,000
Total Project Budget
$3,650,080 / 3-year implementation
3. Project Summary
Never has a generation had as much potential to connect on as
many levels as do today’s youth. Technology has made real time
interaction using text, voice and video a simple, everyday reality.
Global youth culture unites this generation with common heroes,
stories, causes, themes and dreams. In fact, individuals and
communities that remain disconnected from this global network
are the very entities that pose the greatest potential threat to
global peace, stability and security.
It is our mission to create a Web experience most concisely
described as “video pen pals.”
Using the Yurth platform for video uploads and playback, and for
user profile creation, we propose building a simple yet expansive
network to develop peaceful and sustainable relationships among
the world’s youth.
The Project will focus on both real-time and asynchronous video
messaging, on mapping, and on network building. The Project will
minimize reliance on text input, to lower language-difference
barriers.
Users and groups from around the world will connect to one
another in a forum sponsored by and guided by the Directors of
the Project. Yurth will not be a “free for all”, but rather a safe
and positive environment for moderate and secular Islamic youth
to connect to each other and the rest of world.
Emphases of the Project could include, for example, management
of interpersonal micro-finance programs, “crowd-sourcing” of
media projects, and video exchanges in advance of actual
international home and school exchanges.
4. Voices From the Front
New York Times, March 4, 2008
“I hate Islam and all the clerics because they limit our freedom every
day and their instruction became heavy over us. Most of the girls in
my high school hate that Islamic people control the authority
because they don’t deserve to be rulers.”
Sara, a high school student in Basra
“The religion men are liars. Young people don’t believe them. Guys
my age are not interested in religion anymore.”
Atheer, a 19-year-old from a poor, heavily Shiite neighborhood in southern Baghdad.
“They have changed their views about religion. They started to hate
religious men. They make jokes about them because they feel
disgusted by them.”
Bushra, a professor at Baghdad University’s School of Law, about her students
“I used to love Osama bin Laden, now I hate Islam. Al Qaeda and the
Mahdi Army are spreading hatred. People are being killed for
