NBA -- Warriors crush Lakers at
Staples Center, 120-105
SAN FRANCISCO -- The backcourt tandem of Stephen Curry and Klay Thomspon proved too
much for the Los Angeles Lakers as the Golden State Warriors scored a 120-105 victory
Thursday night at the Staples Center in downtown Los Angeles.
Curry and Thompson made a combined 45 points and converted 15 of their 22 field goals,
including 8 of 14 from 3-point range. Warriors' big men David Lee and Harrison Barnes helped
Golden State's cause with 12 and 11 points, respectively.
Kobe Bryant played for 23 minutes and had a nice output of 15 points, 3 rebounds and 3
assists. Carlos Boozer topscored for the Lakers with 16 while Jeremy Lin, who started for the
resting Steve Nash, chipped in 14 and 4 assists.
But the Lakers defense left a lot to be desired, allowing the Warriors to shot a high 56 percent
from the field, 42 of 75. The Warriors stormed to a 35-27 lead after one quarter ad padded it to
62-44 at the break. They never looked back.
"I was a little disappointed. As I told our guys in the locker room, winning in the NBA is not
easy. You've got to sacrifice. You've got to come to work everyday, you've got to bust your
butt and the bottom line for us is we've got to play harder," Lakers head coach Byron Scott told
reporters after the preseason loss.
