POEM
If you think you are beaten, you are.
If you think you dare not, you won't.
If you like to win, but don't think you can,
    It's almost a cinch that you won't.

If you think you'll lose, you're lost.
For out in the world you'll find
   Success begins with a fellow's will;
It's all in a state of mind.
For many a game is lost
Ere even a play is run,
   And many a coward fails
Ere even his work is begun

Point guard

Main article: Point guard

The point guard, also known as the "1", is typically the team's best ball handler and
passer. The point guard is a position equivalent to that of a playmaking midfielder in
soccer, setter in volleyball, a quarterback in American football, or a center in ice
hockey, where they are often responsible for directing plays and passing the ball. This
lends the player a role similar to a captain, as good point guards increase team
efficiency and generally have a high number of assists. The point guard is typically the
smallest player on his/her squad. At the NBA level, most point guards are 6 feet (1.83
m) to 6 feet 4 inches (1.93 m). In Europe, point guards' height ranges from 5 feet 11
inches (1.80 m) to 6 feet 4 inches (1.93 m), with a few exceptions.

Notable exceptions include Earvin "Magic" Johnson, who was the NBA's tallest point
guard ever to play the position, at 6 feet 9 inches (2.06 m). In comparison, the shortest
players include Muggsy Bogues at 5 feet 3 inches (1.60 m) and Earl Boykins at 5 feet 5
inches (1.65 m).
Dream Team
The greatest basketball ever assembled was the 1992 United States Olympic
team that won the gold medal at the Barcelona Olympics. This team swept
through eight opponents, winning each game by an average of 44 points.
The team was led by Michael Jordan, Magic Johnson, Karl Malone, Charles
Barkley, Patrick Ewing and Larry Bird, and it was coached by Chuck Daly.
"Slam, Dunk, and Hook"
Basketball is a way of life.

Eat, sleep, breath, basketball.

Go out there, play your very hardest.

Play harder next time.

We are untouchable, immortal-- high above the clouds.

As long as we give it our all nothing can go wrong.

Moving in ways we didn't know we could, straining to reach the net just out of our grasp.

As we play we are in our own little world, invincible, untouchable.

Nothing can bring us down.

We command the court, everything is as we want it to be.

Yearning to make the basket, just to get ahead.

SWISH! Gotta play. Gotta win.
Michael Jordan
Michael Jordan may have eclipsed Wilt Chamberlain as the greatest player in the history of the game. Jordan, a 6-foot-6
shooting guard, could not compare with Chamberlain in terms of size or strength. Chamberlain was 7-foot-1 and 275
pounds during his career. However, Jordan led the Chicago Bulls to six NBA championships during the 1990s and
is the NBA's all-time leader in points per game with a career average of 30.1.
SHORT STORY

Chamberlain's 100-Point Night
Wilt Chamberlain is perhaps the greatest player in the history of basketball. His
100-point game while playing for the Philadelphia Warriors against the the New
York Knicks may be the greatest individual performance in the history of
professional sports. No basketball player has ever come close to matching that
performance. Chamberlain's 100-point night took place in Hershey, Pennsylvania,
on March 2, 1962. Chamberlain made 36 of 62 field-goal attempts and 28 of 32 free-
throw attempts. He scored 31 points in the fourth quarter to reach the century
mark.

Basketball's my favorite sport.
I dribble up and down the court.
At First I Came To Have Fun,
But now I’m going to play like
there’s No Sun,
I grab the ball. I shoot. I score,
But for sure I’m going to get more,
I just thought id let you know,
5 4 3 more seconds then its time to
go,
It’s a good thing I came,
Because we just won the game.
