Hypermedia What is hypermedia? How can hypermedia be used in education? What are the limitations of hypermedia?
Hypermedia Defined A computer-based information retrieval system that enables a user to gain or provide access to texts, audio, and video recordings, photographs, and computer graphics related to a particular subject. It is unique because users can move from one idea to the next based on common connections.  Hypermedia is a  revolution  and an  evolution .
Evolution  – Slow change over time… Hypermedia is not what it was 10 years ago.  It is currently not what it will be ten years from now! Hypermedia is an ever evolving system of organizing information. The  Ford Taurus  v.  Lunar Landing Module
Revolution   –  rapid change over time… Hypermedia is actually a whole new way to organize the world in which we find ourselves.  No constraints lf physical objects or static pages in a book or a log.  Hypermedia allows humans to construct and organize  vast information  in a manner most logical and expedient to the seeker.
Vast Information The Library of Congress Currently 29 million books. 13 miles of shelves. Every day - 7,000 new books! NASA an informational scope 3x the Library of Congress! How can such information be organized?
