Christian Youth Work In The Majority WorldSean Marston
Young people in the majority world are becoming part of the global youth culture. This often means that the churches they are part of don't know how to relate to them or work with them and so many are leaving the church. What are the issues involved and what are some ways to connect young people in the majority world back into church and their relationship with God?
The document discusses church membership, social class, relationship to the state, structure, and religious claims. Church membership varies by denomination but generally involves weekly attendance and preserving unity. Members often join as children following their parents' religion. Churches mainly attract the middle class and some believe they have turned away from the working classes, lowering attendance. The relationship to the state is close as the queen is head of both the church and state, and the church follows societal norms and values. Church structure has a strict hierarchy of paid clergy, though some ministers are unpaid, and churches obtain income from donations and gifts. Christians who attend church believe their religion is the only true one that will take them to heaven and reject other denominations.
Catholic United for the Faith - ST. MONICA PRESENTATION pennpadre
- Only 30% of Americans raised Catholic still regularly practice the faith as adults, and 10% of all U.S. adults were formerly Catholic, comprising the largest religious group in the U.S. at 31 million people.
- By age 23, 79% of those raised Catholic who no longer identify as Catholic also claim no religious affiliation. Having a personal relationship with God is the strongest predictor of Mass attendance, yet a majority of adult Catholics are uncertain this is possible.
- Extensive research found that regular church involvement does not necessarily lead to long-term spiritual growth, and that regularly engaging with scripture has the greatest impact on spiritual maturity and developing a personal relationship with Christ.
The document discusses church-based member care for missionaries. It presents two metaphors for member care using a rope, representing either the connection between missionaries and their support network or the coming together of that support. It then discusses different aspects of member care including financial, emotional, spiritual, and professional support that sending churches can provide missionaries. Some challenges for Asian missionaries are lack of emphasis on member care from churches and agencies as well as financial and family issues. The document stresses the importance of pre-screening, accountability, and periodic evaluation to prevent personal problems from exploding on the mission field.
There is now a global youth culture impacting the emerging generations all around the world. There are common aspects of this global culture that relates to young people everywhere. Here are some of my ideas what this Global Youth Culture looks like

This study analyzed data from over 15,000 infants in the UK Millennium Cohort Study to examine the relationship between breastfeeding and hospitalization for diarrhea and respiratory infections in the first 8 months of life. The results showed that exclusive breastfeeding, compared to no breastfeeding, was associated with a lower risk of hospitalization for both diarrhea and respiratory infections after adjusting for various confounding factors. Partial breastfeeding also showed a protective effect, but it was weaker than exclusive breastfeeding. The protective effects of breastfeeding decreased after breastfeeding cessation. The study suggests that increased rates of exclusive and prolonged breastfeeding could significantly reduce hospitalizations in the UK.

The song "Greenfields" describes a lover longing for past times spent in green fields with their partner. It recalls a time when there were green fields kissed by the sun, valleys with running rivers, and blue skies with clouds. The singer and their partner used to stroll through the green fields as lovers. Now the green fields are gone, parched by the sun and the valleys and rivers have disappeared. The cold wind also swept away the lover who left. The singer remains waiting and searching for the green fields and their lover to return home once more.

Understanding and Reaching the Generations - Week 4Daniel Doak
This document discusses strategies for ministering to baby boomers. It notes that baby boomers reject stereotypes of aging and want to make a difference. A linear view of aging does not fit this generation; they reevaluate values during life transitions. Churches need diverse programs that provide spiritual depth and opportunities to serve. Outreach should recognize boomers' felt needs around careers, family caregiving, health, and purpose. Churches can help boomers find roles using their gifts. Encouraging trends show boomers seeking spiritual answers and returning to church.
The document discusses how the attractional model of evangelism used by many churches focuses on bringing people into the church, while the missional model takes the church out into the community to share the gospel. It draws an analogy to the Marine Corps mission of locating and destroying the enemy through fire and maneuver. Ultimately, the mission of the church, whether missional or attractional, should be to fulfill the Great Commission by making disciples of all nations as commanded by Jesus Christ.
The document discusses principles for ministry to young adults, including that relationships are more important than rituals, purpose is more important than activity, and significance trumps loyalty. It also discusses that most people feel their lives have meaning or purpose, though religiously unaffiliated people are more likely to lack a sense of purpose. Churches should consider how to reach the millennial generation. The document outlines guiding principles for missional-emergent ministry, including being interactive, engaging, and experiential.
The document discusses four big adaptive challenges facing faith formation: increasing diversity, changes in religious beliefs and practices, decline in religious transmission between generations, and rise of new digital technologies. It then outlines elements of a new faith forming ecosystem for the 21st century, including intergenerational faith formation, family faith formation, life-stage/generational faith formation, missional faith formation, and digitally-enabled faith formation. The goal is a holistic, lifelong approach to faith formation through various environments that engage people across their lifespan.
This document discusses the relationship between church programs and the good news or gospel message. It begins with an anecdote about a pastor who felt his church had too many programs, distracting from their core message. It then examines biblical examples of religious programs and how Peter's experience in Acts 10 showed the importance of the message over rigid programs. The document presents criticisms of popular discipleship programs, questioning whether they truly promote the gospel. It includes two case studies about Hillsong church, one describing its popularity among youth but facing criticisms it prioritizes appearance over substance. The discussion aims to help churches evaluate how their programs relate to spreading the good news.
The millennial student the need for a christian worldviewPantegoChristian
Millennials are seeking meaning and purpose beyond what society offers. They embrace moral relativism and are overwhelmed by stress. While highly connected online, many feel lonely. A Christian worldview providing absolute truth and community is just what they need. However, few millennials possess a biblical worldview. Christian schools aiming to develop wise, courageous leaders grounded in Scripture can help fill this need and reverse declining spiritual activity among youth.

This document discusses strategies for effective adult faith formation programming in parishes. It emphasizes the importance of understanding the needs, concerns, and life stages of different age groups in the congregation. The document recommends assessing implicit and explicit faith needs rather than just interests, and providing a variety of programming options tailored to different generations to nourish a lively faith through word, sacrament and community. The goal is to form disciples who witness to their faith in daily life.
This document discusses building a new faith forming ecosystem for the 21st century. It outlines four big adaptive challenges facing faith formation: increasing diversity, religious changes, declining religious transmission, and new digital technologies. The presentation proposes moving from a church-centered model to an ecosystem with five interconnected elements: intergenerational faith community, age group/generational formation, family formation, missional formation, and online/digital formation. Each element is described in detail with examples of faith forming processes and strategies to build a holistic, lifelong approach for people of all ages.

This document introduces Dawn Trautman and Dr. Terri Elton who are offering webinars on topics related to faith formation. Dr. Elton's webinar series is titled "Faith Formation in a Missional Age" and will explore what faith means in today's changing cultural context. It discusses research showing declining religious affiliation and notes faith must be reimagined for a society where Christianity is no longer the majority. Faith formation aims to help people understand what it means to live out their Christian identity amidst these cultural shifts.
The document discusses the results of a Spiritual Needs Survey conducted with 3000 people from parishes in the United States and Canada. The survey aimed to understand what helps people grow spiritually and find engagement in their parish community. Preliminary findings suggest that daily prayer, participation in Mass, belonging to a parish community, and having good friends who share one's faith are most impactful. At one parish, respondents indicated that small faith sharing groups and Bible studies could help meet spiritual needs. The document concludes that forming deep friendships may be a key way to establish a culture of holiness and engagement in a parish.

Christian youth discipleship involves building honest and trusting relationships where mentors can provide direction while also exploring life's uncertainties. Through discipleship, a youth's understanding of God, self, and grace can grow as their faith develops. Effective discipleship is a long-term commitment that acknowledges each person's individual journey and requires personal investment of time and patience to see the youth mature at their own pace.

It seems that current missionary work requires spending a lot of money, preparing a lot of materials, and traveling to far away places, so that it feels like missionary work. But what was the result they brought back? It's just a lot of photos of activities, fun eating, drinking and some playing games. And then we have to do the same thing next year, never ending. The church once mentioned that a certain missionary would go to the field where she used to work before the end of his life. It seemed that if she had not gone, no one would be willing to go. The reason why these missionary work is so difficult is that no one obeys God’s words, and the Bible is not the main content during missionary work, because in the eyes of those who do not obey God’s words, the Bible is just words and cannot be connected with life, so Reading out God's words is boring because it doesn't have any life experience, so it cannot be connected with human life. I will give a few examples in the hope that this situation can be changed. A375
