Malala Yousafzai was born in Pakistan and loved school, but the Taliban took control of her town and banned girls from attending. At age 11, she spoke out for girls' education despite the Taliban's threats. In 2012, a Taliban gunman shot her on her school bus for her activism. After recovering, she continued campaigning for girls' education globally. She received the Nobel Peace Prize in 2014 at age 17, becoming the youngest recipient. She now attends Oxford University and works through her Malala Fund to advocate for girls' education worldwide.
