Lakeview Jr High Ride Janie Ride Fundraiser
A homebase project takes on a life of it’s own …. Under the leadership of Mrs. Allison Ohlander and Mrs. Erika Myers Each motorcycle represents $5 of money collected
Ride Janie Ride The Mission of Ride Janie Ride Foundation: To provide financial assistance to Chicagoland Area Individuals in need who have incurred immense medical expenses not covered by insurance over the course of medical treatments for various types of blood cancer
This year’s recipients: Kayla O’Leary (third grader at Prairieview) Anthony Nino ( his sister-in-law teaches at Lakeview) Michael Polley
The motorcycle gangs take over the lobby … the race is on! Sixth grade is gold Seventh grade is green Eighth grade is blue
Mr. Little began his discussion on civics and the students saw a real life connection. Some homebase teachers matched their students earnings (and some had to cap it off early!)
Student took this cause to heart … Some went door to door Peter Pinos stood outside of church and collected almost $300 Girl Scout Troop 838 donated almost $600 of their earnings And the stories go on and on and on …
Our goal … $3000 for Ride Janie Ride Each homebase that earned $100 would get a pancake breakfast Each grade level that earned $1000 would get a field day
The money kept coming in! Most days the students brought in close to $1000 a day! Ride Janie Ride heard about their accomplishments and wanted to come and personally thank the students and staff of Lakeview Jr High … so an assembly was planned!
The motorcycles continued to come in …

Quote from Mrs. Nino There are always those moments in teaching when your students do something that amazes you above and beyond what you thought possible. These moments are what make teaching the best profession in the world and you know that what you and your fellow teachers do make a difference. The amount of support and donations that have come in within the past two weeks for the Ride Janie Ride fundraiser have been astounding. Students have, and continue to be, an inspiration in all that they have done to raise money. I cannot wait to see the final totals on Monday!
