You will write a five page research paper (excluding title page and bibliography). Submit your research paper topic in this drop box. The organization was founded to promote the spirit of race and pride and also create the sense of peace in black people and to unite all Africa and its Diasporas and redeem it from white rule. The UNIA closed in 1982 but it is recognized as a historic landmark by the National Register of Historic Places and the Ohio Historic Preservation Office (Marable, 1991).

Any debate about immigration is informed by ideas about the character of a nation.
Immigrants impact not just the current workforce, institutions, culture, and political
orientation of a society; more important, they shape the nation’s future. What is this
country all about? How do we want to evolve? What kind of society do we want to be and
become?
While the United States has always been a country of immigrants, historically
immigration was restricted in many ways. There have been waves of immigrants from
different parts of the world, and at different times certain groups were deemed more
desirable than others. The debate about who should be allowed to come here and
ultimately become American citizens continues. The political struggle about President
Trump’s proposed wall at the US-Mexican border is one manifestation of a long history
of arguments for and against immigration.
Assignment: Write a 3- to 4-page essay using at least 3 of the following sources as
well as several interviews with people who represent the various political positions on
the issue. If you like, you may use other sources, preferably articles from reputable
magazines and newspapers, like The Guardian, The New York Times, and The Wall
Street Journal. You don’t have to take a position, though you are welcome to if you
wish—just be sure to marshal some evidence to support your view. Either way—staying
neutral or offering your opinion—your essay needs to shed light on the complex
motivations and concerns of proponents and opponents of immigration. Why do people
feel the way they do? Why do they get so passionate about immigration? Discuss 3 or 4

In this paper, you will be discussing the development of a civil liberty or civil rights based on
the reading and the research you will be conducting. You will also focus on one issue related to
the right. So you will first discuss the entire issue and then focus on one aspect or dimension of
the issue (e.g. Right to Privacy—Abortion; 8th A Cruel and Unusual Punishment—Sentencing
or Death Penalty, etc.).
Once you have chosen an issue, you will be required to discuss the following in your paper:
(I) Introduction: Introduce your topic by describing the U.S. Political Culture. What is the
dominant ideology in the U.S. political culture? (hint: liberalism) How does liberal ideology
relate to the conception of civil liberties and civil rights? Where do we find these rights in the
Constitution? How does your issue relate to the idea of civil liberties or civil rights? (check out
your lecture notes on liberalism to address this question).
In other words, discuss which constitutional issue or question the issue raises. Is it a civil
liberty? A civil right? Is it both?
Make sure to clearly state your thesis regarding the development of the issue (write your thesis
last, after you have researched your issue). Please state “my thesis is…..” in your introduction

Essay 2: Immigration, Citizenship, National Interest
Any debate about immigration is informed by ideas about the character of a nation.
Immigrants impact not just the current workforce, institutions, culture, and political
orientation of a society; more important, they shape the nation’s future. What is this
country all about? How do we want to evolve? What kind of society do we want to be and
become?
While the United States has always been a country of immigrants, historically
immigration was restricted in many ways. There have been waves of immigrants from
different parts of the world, and at different times certain groups were deemed more
desirable than others. The debate about who should be allowed to come here and
ultimately become American citizens continues. The political struggle about President
Trump’s proposed wall at the US-Mexican border is one manifestation of a long history
of arguments for and against immigration.
Assignment: Write a 3- to 4-page essay using at least 3 of the following sources as
well as several interviews with people who represent the various political positions on
the issue. If you like, you may use other sources, preferably articles from reputable
magazines and newspapers, like The Guardian, The New York Times, and The Wall
Street Journal. You don’t have to take a position, though you are welcome to if you
wish—just be sure to marshal some evidence to support your view. Either way—staying
neutral or offering your opinion—your essay needs to shed light on the complex
motivations and concerns of proponents and opponents of immigration. Why do people
feel the way they do? Why do they get so passionate about immigration? Discuss 3 or 4
related issues, one per paragraph at minimum. (If you have more to say about a

In this paper, you will be discussing the development of a civil liberty or civil rights based on
the reading and the research you will be conducting. You will also focus on one issue related to
the right. So you will first discuss the entire issue and then focus on one aspect or dimension of
the issue (e.g. Right to Privacy—Abortion; 8th A Cruel and Unusual Punishment—Sentencing
or Death Penalty, etc.).
Once you have chosen an issue, you will be required to discuss the following in your paper:
(I) Introduction: Introduce your topic by describing the U.S. Political Culture. What is the
dominant ideology in the U.S. political culture? (hint: liberalism) How does liberal ideology
relate to the conception of civil liberties and civil rights? Where do we find these rights in the
Constitution? How does your issue relate to the idea of civil liberties or civil rights? (check out
your lecture notes on liberalism to address this question).
In other words, discuss which constitutional issue or question the issue raises. Is it a civil
liberty? A civil right? Is it both?
Make sure to clearly state your thesis regarding the development of the issue (write your thesis

Likely, you’ve been told “the media spins things” and that “you shouldn’t believe everything you read.” Perhaps you’ve heard a conservative speak angrily about “the liberal media” or heard a liberal sneer at FOX News’s “conservative bias.”

IN A SEMINAL ARTICLE for the argument that pragmatics—
the branch of linguistics concerned with language use—can
enhance our understanding of husiness communication, Limaye
and Cherry (1987) present their aim as follows:
Business communicators speak of persuasion, good-news and bad-news letters,
the you-attitude, and goodwill. Pragmatics research supplies more rigorous
tools to examine these concepts than the often fuzzy, pop-psychology
approach found in business communication literature. This study is a first step
toward . . . a 'pragmatic grammar of business communication.' (p. 87)
They propose an effectiveness measure for husiness letters that is
hased on the conversation maxims described in Grice (1975) and
the politeness principles developed hy Lakoff (1973; 1977) and
Brown and Levinson (1978). Similarly, Hagge and Kostelnick
(1989) complain that "students aren't told how one uses language

to be diplomatic or to imply. To make matters worse, many text-
books appear to ignore completely, proscribe, or cover in insuffi-
cient detail the very politeness locutions with which linguistic
diplomacy is conveyed in the real world" (p. 334). After more
than a decade, it is still true that linguistic research has had rela-
tively little impact on business communication research and
teaching and we have little explicit advice to offer students on
how to achieve qualities such as you-attitude.
My main purpose is to suggest how the teaching of you-attitude
can be enhanced by using politeness theories, case grammar, and
information structure. This article begins.

Tesla's stock has a positive trend over the past year. The stock has ranged from a low of $187.06 a year ago to a high of $883.09 on January 26, 2021 (Yahoo, 2021a). Tesla's shares have skyrocketed more than 20,000% since it went public in 2010, with its price rising more than 700% over the last year (Levin, 2021). This growth has made Tesla the most valuable car company in the world. There are many reasons for this epic growth. After years of not turning a profit for years, Tesla has finally shown a profit for the last 6 quarters. Tesla also beat estimates by producing more than 500,000 vehicles and selling its fifth vehicle, Modle Y, ahead of schedule (Levin, 2021). In addition, Tesla was added to the S&P 500 on November 16th, 2020, which helped the share price spike. These are the main drivers of the success of Teslas stock over the past 12 months. Another positive trend that has factored into the growth of Tesla's stock is the growing demand for EV stocks in general. Tightening emission regulations and the government's continued push towards renewable energy have also help Tesla's shares rise.
