V. Nandakumar was a school dropout who became an IRS officer by topping the UPSC exam in Geography in 2004. After dropping out of school, he did various jobs like selling lottery tickets before gaining admission to college. He developed a challenge-loving attitude from facing repeated failures and public insults. Despite having dyslexia, he developed his own method of using pictures and diagrams to overcome difficulties in writing exams, which helped him succeed. His advice to students includes not feeling envious of others' success and believing that with determination and hard work, one can achieve their dreams even from an unlucky background.
