Yevgeny Lagunov was born in 1985 in Arkhangelsk, Russia. He showed an early talent for swimming and joined the swimming school. Lagunov had great success in junior competitions and was admitted to the Russian national swimming team in 2003. His breakthrough came in 2004 when he won silver at the European Championships. Lagunov went on to compete in the 2004 Athens Olympics and helped the Russian relay team make the finals. He achieved his greatest success at the 2008 Beijing Olympics where he won a silver medal as part of the Russian 4 x 200 meter freestyle relay team.

2. Yevgeny Alexandrovich Lagunov (first name
sometimes spelled "Evgeny" ) was born on the 14 th
of December 1985 in Arkhangelsk.

3. He's always loved swimming, that’s why he went to
the swimming school.

4. Soon Lagunov made great strides. Almost
immediately he was admitted to the Junior
competitions. Then Evgeny started to gain one
victory after another.


Until 2003 Evgeny sang on internal competitions.
In the same season Lagunov was accepted in the
state national team of Russia.
His first success at the high-level young swimmer
achieved in 2004. He became a silver
prizewinner of Championship of Europe.

5. Evgeny debuted
Olympic Games
held in Athens.
He participated in
the relay race at
the distance of 4
to 100 metres
and together with
his comrades
made the final.

6. For the Olympic games in Beijing Lagunov was ready.
He participated in the final swim relay 4 by 200 metres
and has achieved the highest results. Russian
sportsman won the silver at the Olympics, confirming
his international class.
